As a dietitian and personal trainer who specializes in both sports nutrition and eating disorders I am very grateful to see this message. People are so brainwashed by diet culture and need to hear more of this!
Thank you! I feel great and it is amazing what fueling properly has done for me!! I hope others can learn to fuel properly and avoid the mistakes I have made!
THANK YOU! Been trying to get this message to women for years! Ever since I started working with M2 about 3 years ago, my relationship with food completely changed. I was severely under-eating and over training and it definitely affected me in the ways that you mentioned. I am finally recovered from those issues.
If you aren’t training for looks then you have a lot of people fooled. You crush it daily and you look phenomenal girl. Can’t wait to watch you compete. Keep putting out these great videos. You’re an inspiration ❤️
Yes!!!! Love this video! More people need to eat more. Definitely for performance, but body composition can change with higher calories too! Nutrition isn’t one size fits all, but I think as a society, we can be more open minded about nutrition and trying new things.
Hey Kristi, I think the full day of eating would be great (if you've got time). I don't think I'm close to 440g of carbs so I'd be interested to see what that looks like for sure! About time I find out how many carbs I'm eating on average.
Such great info… love that you put this video up! Nutrition is key to performance! It’s good to know that you are still learning like the rest of us! I hope everyone watches this video! Great job!
I ordered a food scale after watching the vid. Great work on communicating and getting across more than one angle on the topic...that's why we love you.🌄
Thank you for going straight to the real solution and not trying to sponsor miracle suplements, p.s. exactly why I stopped following T. Toomey on facebook! Keep videos comming Thanks! USMC VET!
You know what? I love your videos Kristi because you tell the truth on what you eat and how much you fuel yourself with. Most of the times i end up seeing top athletes sponsoring ballerina diets of something like 200-250g of carbs and say "that's all I eat"..... Keep being true :)
love the open statements!!! so true.. whats the goal and how will you achieve it... " wasted my training because i wasnt fueling enough" GOOD food for thought!!
Thank you. Being in my mid-thirties and into sports since I was little +plus having the genes to bulk very easily, I struggled with a healthy balance all my life.
LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so glad you are experimenting and learning what works for you!!! And setting a great example for the current and future athletes!!!!! Keep CRUSHING IT! PS- I am also trying to reverse diet and eat more food to have better energy and metabolic health.
I’m a young CrossFiter who hopes to make it to the games sometime when I’m 18-20. Ive been trying to figure out my diet because I train a lot but I don’t want to gain a lot of weight. This cleared up so much for me thank you so much!
Great information. I’ve been eating healthier this year and working out more and it finally shows. I definitely feel the difference when I’m not eating enough. Luckily I have an abnormal amount of stamina between my work and working out. Just started fueling on carbs a few hours before the gym and I can really push myself now. No pre workout either.
Great video!! Thanks so much for making it!! I appreciate you eating “so much” /enough for your body and daily activity and being so scientific about it! Personally I wish more pros would do track and analyze their diet like this:) It really is informative and worth it! Would love to see a full day of eating! Do you think you might up carbs again?
Thank you so much for your message! I do 2 hours of weight training every day and often additionally 1 h of cardio. I have sleep problems but never thought about eating more because I feel so full. Doing a low-carb diet at the moment and therefore the fat and protein keeps me full for half of the day so I only need 2 meals. I always thought intermittent fasting and much fat and protein was a good thing, but maybe its just not enough to fuel my workouts. Thank you also for the insight that you have to decide on whether performance or look is more important to you, but still I think you are the best example for having both :)
Thank you for this reminder! With so many different opinions about carbs and fats floating around, it can be hard to know what’s best for each of us personally! I would love to hear your recommendations for those who train only at night... should we start with slow digesting carbs in the morning and keep the fast digesting ones right around our workout?
Hi Kristi, How's the thirst and water consumption? Has it gone up along the with the increased metabolism? When I splurge on pizza once in a while my mouth dries fast and I'm drinking like an elephant.
Awesome video. Quick question. I workout in the afternoon and/or the evening. How should I fuel for that? Because I wake up in the morning to go to work. And then train late in the even. So do I eat my quick carbs about an hour before training and all of my fatty and proteins in the morning?
Same! It’s so tricky to find the right balance because if I get really bad side stitches if I don’t wait long enough before training, but too long and I don’t have energy to get through it.
What are your macro percentages? I’ve heard other M2 athletes are at around 50% carbs. Do you also eat the same percentages and amounts of food on your days off even when burning less calories?
That's interesting about the sleep, I feel I'm eating enough, but it's a battle to see the number on the scale go up if I feel I eat a little more, though I feel tired when I wake up, even after what feels like good sleep. I had more carbs today, so we'll see how the sleeps go tonight....then it's back to protein for arm day tomorrow.
It's the first energy source and the most readily available! I was waking up often throughout the night , my energy was low, I was irritable and just tired! Increasing carbs / overall calories helped me a lot!
Well what do you know? Carbs aren't deadly. Thats the biggest news since the announcement that Tomatoes aren't poisonous 🤣🤣 (and it was once thought that potatoes were only good for their flowers🤓). This will be a very positive message for the Fitness- Community. 🙏
In times of carbs being demonized - insulin is the devil, as we all know - even by people who train something demonstrably glycolytic, your video is a needed reminder. Carbs are energy, sure. But that's far from all they are, carbs intake has crucial metabolic impacts, from hormonal balance to anti-catabolism. I never understood how the most keto-convinced would say "carbs are the body's preferential energy source, but" without even reflecting on the implications. And I'm not fat-phobic, mind you, fats are essential in one's diet. But it's time to make carbs great again lol. There are convincing arguments for low-carb approaches in a general population in need of metabolic/weight management, but high-performing athletes shouldn't shoot themselves in the foot with that. I remember how keto was all the rage in combat sports back in the days (where you have to make weight on the scale), but now almost no one would touch it with a 20-foot pole. Highly glycolytic sports where a lack of endurance and stamina will get you punched in the face on a regular basis, go figure...
Splantastic video, very valuable info and so spot-on how you relate nutrition to personal needs and that it takes time..... This was just okay in terms of speed of talking, a tiny bit faster and it would be hard to follow for non-English speaking people ;-) feels like you're in hurry :-D
@@cfp9465 and I assume you're native Englisch speaking so better able to follow :-) I guess she's so enthusiasticly motivated that she speaks equaly 😅😅😅
