In the 1980s you drove to the video rental shop spend half an hour looking for a video then drive home, then find out it was something like this. Then you had to watch it to the end because you put the money and effort in to getting it. That's what it was like back then.
And towards the end of the video rental era, people -where I lived- started writing abusive comments on the covers of bad movies, which I think only succeeded in getting the movie more views.
The rental stores in my city would exchange your movie or even game if you were to come back a few hours later. With my buddy we would often go rent a movie, watch it then go back and say it sucked and get a second one for free. 👍
When I moved out at 18 in 1984 and got my own place it was party up every night through the 80's. I had a few friends who worked at video stores so we had movies 24/7. Man what a fun time, being part of that revolution of home entertainment and seeing any and every horror and sci fi and t&a comedy and porn. Out of the 1000's of movies we watched over the years, I dont ever remember paying rental fees.
@@kiddhkane For real, I haven't seen an Eddie Murphy film in so long(aside from the Beverley Hills Cop series) that I completely forgot what he sounds like! Anyway, in every clips he's in, he steals the spotlight easily from Hakimoto or whatever his name is. The more I watch this video, the more I like him!
tleeg74 Yeah but... before that, he did the Foodfight review and then disappeared for a couple months. I'm just glad it didn't happen again. Watching bad movies taxes your health and everything
He's too likable, even. His small speech impediment and the fact that he kicks Hawkeye's ass as soon as he sees him makes me want a movie about him! Maybe not in a serious movie, but you know, something funny and action packed that makes you grab popcorn and set your brain at "off"...
Red letter media did an interview with the actor from samurai cop. He was actually pretty awesome and I guess he knew throughout filming that the movie he was making sucks
Such a shame... when you google "Hawkeye movie," all that comes up is The Avengers and Jeremy Renner... hardly anyone will get to see this masterpiece.
Having lived in China for 7 years, I have realised that many Chinese cannot or will not walk down or up a moving escalator. I love that in the scene Hawkeye is deliberately stopping them from going down the escalator, despite Sharon's obvious desire to move faster.
Oh, hey - Hold Up Man was played by Ronnie Lott! The legendary San Francisco 49ers player. I wonder how his teammates felt about his part in this fantastic film during the off-season!
My grandfather's name was John Wolfe. Spelled the same as you. He died in 2002 so unless your his ghost I don't think you're the same lmao. If you are his ghost then HI Pop-pop i hope Hell is nice.
That dispatch girl actually was very accurate, theyre supposed to keep their cool no matter what to relay the information in an calm and comprehensive manner. Panicking or rushing can screw up the message or give bad direction.
4:09- Y'know, I feel like if the first thing you do to torture someone is to shoot them in the head, the rest of the torture just really isn't going to register. Like The Joker said, "never start with the head."
Honestly, it's kinda refreshing to see an Asian lead just be an unrestrained badass. No Asian discipline shit undercutting it. Not sure I've seen a character like that.
But Jackie Chan isn’t American. He’s from hongkong so he has a heavy accent. I think he means like an asian american. Han from the fast and the furious movies was pretty dope
I dont think this one is actually that bad. I found it more funny than bad, like, the "bad" things just made me laugh more than be frustrated with it. Also, i feel the two main characters have good chemistry in their scenes together.
The scene with Hawkeye punching the reporter who is following him seems like it was taken straight from The Deadpool (1988) where Clint Eastwood beats up the two guys he thinks are following him, but it turns out they're his bodyguards.
His partner obviously was a rip off of the Axle Foley Character from Beverly Hills Cop, dude is dressed like him and mimicking how Eddie Murphy talks as well..., probably makes this bad movie better though
Wow, they dragged poor Chuck Jeffreys into this movie. If you're wondering who I'm talking about, he's the Eddie Murphy look-and-sound-alike. Chuck Jeffreys was Eddie Murphy's stunt double in Beverly Hills Cop (what a twist!), and he did stunt coordination for movies like Blade and The Art Of War (yep, he worked with Wesley Snipes too!). His best onscreen role was in the Gary Daniels movie, Bloodmoon, where he plays a cop with a karate background who moonlights as a magician. If you watch Pootie Tang, he's one of the drug dealers that Pootie Tang fights with his belt. Oh, and his nickname in the industry? "Eddie Snipes", as in he looks and talks like Eddie Murphy, and fights like Wesley Snipes 😁
I thought I was the only one to see that! He definitely shoots the air after the guy falls, which is not a huge screw up but it's still pretty funny that they left it in the scene. XD
I got some inside information on this movie. George Chung (Hawkeye) was an actual Sensei in the art of Tae Kwon Do. He had a school in Los Gatos, Ca. where he trained and taught for many years. Apparently he doesn't teach anymore. The Majority of the film is shot in San Jose, Ca. in 1988 I think. The scene when Hawkeye is talking to the guy before his 'test' is a guy by the name of Sunny Skies who is a practitioner of Aikido. Also, the bank robber wielding the shotgun is indeed 9 time pro bowler and 4 time super bowl champ and former 49er and Raider Ronnie Lott. RL was George Chung's student at one point and was asked to play the role of a bank robber a role in which he accepted, obviously. The one good thing about this movie is the fighting. George Chung and Eddie Murphy Jr. are skilled at TKD. Great film review. Keep em coming. Here is the link to the entire movie. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5S0Z2SQ5BXY.html
as someone who grew up in the 80's a I got a kick out of that quick cut of the woman hitting the button with her foot...with her white lace stockings that were all the rage then.
actors: we knew the movie was terrible and hoped no one would see it. plus, it was the 80's, so sometimes a few people were having more fun than maybe they should have. writer: i really don't remember much about this particular project other than it was early in my career. i recall getting paid a hundred bucks, and since it was the 80's i might have been offered some other form of compensation. director: it was my dream movie, i was so passionate about getting it made. we didn't have much money, but since it was the 80's people were much more willing to work for fun than huge paychecks. editor: man, every single one of those idiots were fucked up drunk, stoned, and on coke every day on set. one day they sent me dailies where they filmed a palm tree for two hours. they just filmed a tree swaying in the breeze 'waiting for the right clouds to go by.' given the moronic nonsense i was given to cobble together some kind of story, this thing is a masterpiece. it was also the 80's, and i was high on a daily basis, so that didn't help matters, either.
THANK YOU! I was saying the same thing! I'm guessing that Ronnie funded this sweet disaster. Either that or he took a really bad turn after retirement and had to take 2-bit acting gigs.
This came out in ‘88, and Lott was still on the 88 and 89 Super Bowl teams. I think he only retired in ‘93, so he was probably just doing this for fun. I think he helps run a rather successful investment firm now.
Someone mentioned this in another comment but George Chung ran a taekwando school at the time and Lott was one of his students, so they knew eachother pretty well.
To be fair, you don't see many movies where the protagonist's saved girlfriend gets killed and then gets kicked out of his job and never miraculously gets it back.
There's a film you should review, its called "Black Ninja". Its written and directed by the lead "actor". And in the opening credits, it literally says "Written and directed by Me"
Hey Mark just wanted to say all your videos are awesome, probably the funniest stuff on RU-vid. I hope you keep making them, you voukd go far if you keep it up. Thanks for the entertainment
I dunno, I watched this movie and she looks like she just woke up... Which doesn't sound safe to me! Actress: "can I have a coffee before we do this?"😞 Asshole director: "Nah! You'll do fine!" 😇
When I first viewed Hawkeye back in April, it almost gave me herpes. George Chung made another film called Kindergarten Ninja. It too will give you herpes of the eye. Thanks for the review, it made my night!
