It's great to hear your journey of quitting coffee! I love your breakdown too, really helpful if you're wanting to quit. I quit coffee over a year ago. I used to have 3 cups a day. When I decided to quit I went down to 2 cups a day for a week, 1 cup a day for a week, 1/2 cup a day for a week and finally replaced it with my favorite alternative, barley tea. Supplementing with magnesium (mag chloride foot soaks) also helped my coffee cravings diminish. I now drink barley tea once or twice a week. My sleep and mood have improved and though I still struggle with insomnia, it's not as bad as it was. I love getting up and not needing a cup of coffee to feel normal. I never thought I'd really be able to quit or that my cravings for coffee would stop but they really did and I actually enjoy my mornings more now. I'm still trying to quit/ reduce chocolate because I know that's not helping with my insomnia.

I hear you with this video! Oh the horror of all the flavored creamers I used to pour into my coffees in my pre-black days LOL! My next ritual was a big ol 16oz mug of pour over. Now that I’m in perimenopause i felt it making me more subject to mood swings so I started to delay caffeine by 30 minutes in the morning (thanks to Andrew Huberman) and just do a tiny shot of espresso instead to feel “awake”. I tried to sub with Mud Water…didn’t do it for me. I read another comment about blackstrap molasses- gonna try that! Thanks for all your awesome videos!❤

Hi Rachel- I just came across your channel today because I’ve recently been watching videos about cosmetic procedures. I’m 55 and not had any “work” done but am starting to see the effects of aging in my face- thank you Mena! 😂 I want to try a few things, but obviously want to look natural and not go overboard. You look great by the way and I see a big improvement from your 32 year old self. Just don’t cross over into the “weird” territory, ok!!!?? 😅 I decided to stick around and subscribe to your channel because you seem to be interested in a lot of the same things I am and I like the concept of chatting with a girlfriend to see what they’ve been loving lately. I love the taste of coffee but rarely have it because it doesn’t love me. I am addicted to my daily cup of black tea, though. I just ordered the decaf coffee you recommended through your link because I’ve been wanting to find one that was organic and not processed with harmful things, so thank you for that recommendation! 😊 Do you not have any trouble with intermittent fasting without having any caffeine? That’s sort of where I’m at right now. 😢

thank you for all of your videos:) ..... (i have gone off of coffee for a 26 day cleanse..... after doing three of these over the past three years, I now just have 1 cup per day, which consists of a 3/4 scoop of regular and 2 scoops of decaffeinated (Swiss Water method of decaf) .... so I'm not getting as much caffeine but still get the taste of coffee when I want it

In the “why do I love coffee” section, I’m shocked that you didn’t mention simple physiological addiction to caffeine! Caffeine is a DRUG and our bodies get addicted to it. That’s why we experience withdrawal when we quit cold turkey. Of course I love the taste and the ritual (I drink 8 oz of Peet’s Organic French Roast, black, every morning). But mainly what I “love” about it is not experiencing withdrawal symptoms - headache, fatigue, irritability, and brain fog. Also: what a lot of people call a “cup” of coffee is actually 2 cups. A typical coffee mug holds 16 oz, which is 2 cups. So many people may be drinking twice as many cups per day as they think.

Had to quit coffee during both pregnancies bc it made my stomach so upset. It was AWFUL! When I could finally have it again, it was an epiphany! I felt like myself again! I vowed to never ever quit having it again hahaha! I’m strict about it, just 16 oz a day, and it’s my only vice. I love it and have zero desire to ever give it up again. But I love your videos!

When I was pregnant with both my kids I was completely turned off coffee and fried chicken. My body just didn't want it. I guess it was protecting my babies. I ate lots of spaghetti. Both of my kids love spaghetti. I'm on one coffee a day at the present time. I have had breaks from it occasionally so I can't be too addicted. I'm thinking of getting organic decaf from the supermarket. Maybe I'll try mushroom coffee.

I stop drinking coffee two days ago. I've been drinking tea, but found out I'm actually making it incorrectly, because boiling water ruins their benefits. What's so bad about coffee, is it blocks the effectiveness of vitamin D and Calcium and if those who screwy, then Zinc is also out of kilter. It's also a diarrhetic, which flushes everything else out. So, is it coffee in general or caffeine that is so detrimental? The reason I ask, is because tea has more caffeine than coffee, which makes it a worse tradeoff ?
