And the second amendment was written when the US didn't have a standing army and needed militias from each state to be ready if needed. Those are not separate points like some of yall like to pretend it is. That's one whole sentence. Yall only ever quote half of it. Also Supreme Court decisions have already been made to ban many types of weapons before the AR15. Full auto weapons have been illegal for quite some time without special permits. This is just adding one more group and we are only talking about it because the instances of actually using an AR15 for defense are almost zero whereas instances of an AR15 used to slaughter children is almost a daily occurrence. Militias are basically nonexistent now that we have the largest military power in the world. The 2nd amendment was never some anti tyranny insurance plan. That's what democracy is for. If they wrote laws specifically so people could overthrow their own government there wouldn't be any treason or sedition laws. It literally doesn't make sense.

I don't know what the actual data shows, but we seem to hear about a lot more accidental shootings than cases where a so-called good guy 1) just happened to be on the scene to save the day when a bad guy with a gun acted up, or 2) used a gun to safeguard their home from a burglar.
