The U.S. Army Rangers of the 75th Ranger Regiment are known for being one of the most lethal light infantry special operations units in the world. Widely recognized by their famous motto “Rangers Lead The Way,” the U.S. Army Rangers have built a worldwide reputation for their fierceness in battle, and have continually kept up as a cutting-edge, state of the art brute fighting force.
But with that said, what exactly is a United States Army Ranger in the 75th Ranger Regiment? What sets apart an Army Ranger from the rest of the Army? What makes them unique from the other special operations forces? And what does one have to go through to earn the coveted tan beret? If you’re interested in learning more about the U.S. Army Rangers in the 75th Ranger Regiment, watch this video!

How many national mission level HVTs do you think are out there and who do you think they would send as the main effort? Yea, it’s not going to be 18 year olds. Also, almost every CONOP that gets a green light has a “HVT” on the X. This can be low level bomb maker up to #2 financier. Doesn’t mean all the “HVT” are Abu Sayyef or Al-Baghdadi. I love me some Rangers but let’s be real when comparing them to a unit like THE unit.
@Nuhuh130
@Nuhuh130 6 месяцев назад
@@bluestfalcon419lol Rangers were there on those missions. Operation Neptune Spear was a ST6/Rangers mission, and so was Operation Kayla Mueller. And no, the Regiment obviously doesn’t send privates for those Special missions. They only send the best or the most experienced Rangers for the job. Also, just because they aren’t in a stack to raid the objectives, it doesn’t mean that they are less elite than CAG or DevGru. The role of the Rangers is very important for mission success.
@bluestfalcon419
@bluestfalcon419 6 месяцев назад
@@Nuhuh130stop it. You think batt tells E-4s and below to stay at the compound while they round up team leaders and platoon sergeants to go on the high level raids? Of course Rangers and other enabler units go on raids with the Unit to support the main effort, but the fact that CIC isn’t going to risk his election and geopolitics with any unit other than the Unit and TF blue in it of it self tells you that yes, those units are in fact more elite than Batt. That doesn’t take anything away from Batt and their evolution into a high tempo strike force. But saying they are 1:1 is just wrong as Ranger panties on a fat girl.

Their main selling point as a unit changed from ‘the premier light infantry unit’ to ‘the premier special operations raid force’, though they still dabble in light infantry operations like airfield seizures. At the end of the day, nothing much changed on a doctrine level. They’ve always prided themselves as being ‘masters of the basics’ which is the main reason they’re such a proficient unit despite having less combat skills like dive, free fall, etc. They were just able to sell themselves better to JSOC for large-scale special operations than comparable units like Recon Marines. Plus it helped that the Regiment was acting almost as a feeder for Delta so the Delta guys were requesting to work with Regiment by name, sometimes on the individual company level because they knew the guys were squared away and did their job well.
@formwiz7096
@formwiz7096 6 месяцев назад
Have to disagree on a couple of points. First, airfield seizure is now back in Airborne where it originally was in WWII. Second, after CSM Greg Birch transferred to the Rangers from Delta in '01 and remade them more in the image of Delta (something that was accelerated due to the unsustainable losses Delta suffered in the War on Terror), the Rangers have taken a lot of Delta's signature jobs. Also, the platoon, more than the company, is the bread and butter unit of the Regiment. Also, Marine Recon was the main feeder for standing up MARSOC, so, they were unavailable, as General discharge pointed out about a year ago.@@Matty23134

My question is what is the typical career path once a Ranger earns his tab? Another deployment, then go to a sniper or scout platoon? Train up for RRC or Delta? Head back to Big Army and get your charter time done before doing RASP 2?
@Matty23134
@Matty23134 6 месяцев назад
Not in regiment so take this with a grain of salt, but from what I’ve heard, once guys get their tabs, they come back and take a SAW for the most part. Eventually they’ll get team leader time and then squad leader time before they have to do their charter time either in the big army or I’ve heard that being a RASP cadre also can count as charter time.
@TK-hw2ph
@TK-hw2ph 6 месяцев назад
@@Matty23134 yea that’s accurate. Although some guys do go to snipers on occasion. Case by case basis
@BrianT175
@BrianT175 6 месяцев назад
Yeah it’s usually team leader time then squad leader time and either specialty position before SL time or after. Think snipers, recce, dog handler, phone exploiters etc. it didn’t use to be this way but now they got guys doing charter time before taking a platoon.

Could you do a video on special tactics officers in the air force? I get confused reading about them since the go through the combat controller pipeline but lead teams with pararescuemen, combat rescue officers, and special recon. Do they need to be trained like them or just need to know how they work?

"I want to be an Army Ranger I want to lead a life of danger." From talking with recently retired Rangers I would say a Regimental Ranger is equal in degree and difficulty of training to a Marine Raider. Like Raiders there are Ranger specialties.

Most delta operators are not SF. SF refers to someone having a Special Forces tab (Green Beret). Most delta operators are from the Ranger Regt. So they aren’t SF.

IMO … Large scale army light infantry special ops. And capable of longer term actions. Whereas Green Berets are small scale army special ops meant to act as a force multiplier of indigenous forces on a longer term basis. And Seals and Delta are small scale action forces not meant to engage in long term actions. We need a wide variety of different mission special ops foreces to maximize how many types of operations we can run. to simply theyare all different types of hammers used for different types of nails.

I have question, you guys may can answer me! Because our own Army did not! I know that the Ranger Course is one of the oldest and most important courses in the US Army! I now that even Soldiers from foreign armies can take part of Ranger School. I also know that members of the Bundeswehr aka Federal Armed Forces did take part. What i want to know is this: How many men were sucessful and got the Ranger Tab. And! The German Army got their own "Ranger Course" very early after the rearmement. It is called "Einzelkämpferlehrgang". And like the Ranger School, it was mandatory, for all Officers of Combat troops. In it's early days, the course was 9 weeks long. Today, it has been separated in two courses called Einzelkämpferlehrgang 1 and Einzelkämpferlehrgang 2. Every course, has different goals. Part one, should help NCOś and Officers to become trainers of normal soldiers. And to teach them how to get back safely to the own troops. In case, they were lost. This is the reason, why the first part is called "Führer einer auf sich gestellten Gruppe" Part two has the objectiv to create leaders for guerllia warfare. In German Jagdkampf. But this only a basic training. That can be extended in later courses. And like Ranger School, soldiers of allied armies could take part, if asked or commanded. Is it really true, that only Green Berets were able to complete both courses? Thanks for your time.

America's first special forces, the US Rangers were created, trained and advised by the British Army Commandos in 1942 Achnacarry Scotland. The 1st and 29th Rangers were born. Direct copies of the Commandos. These got disbanded, and later used their new Commando skills to create the 2nd and 5th US Rangers in 1943. "Ranger" was selected because of the British colonial Rogers Queens Rangers (Scottish border Rangers). 8 British advisors accompanied the US Rangers at Point Du Hoc aswell as 3 SWANS. US Green berets, Marine Raiders, US Seals/OG also all trace their heritage back to the Commandos. 🇺🇸
