How Did Skate Tricks Get Their Names?
Decided to do something a little more on the history side today by taking a look into the origins for the names of some skateboarding tricks. Some are pretty straight forward but a few have some pretty interesting roots. What are some other origin stories for trick names that you have heard and do you have any corrections to my list?

It's actually pretty rare that you'd even need to say Fakie Ollie or Switch Ollie. So no need to shorten something you never say.

The big spin is my favorite. You'd never guess the naming was any more complicated than "Because you do a lot of spinning," then there's this whole tie in with the lottery.

Kickflip has been named after a random dude accidentally kicked his friend so hard that he flipped and became a skateboard. No i did not made that up.

Casper: a Casper is a trick where you are stationary or sliding (on flat (it's near impossible but I guess you could do it on a rail.)) with the board upside down and one foot is on the tail above of the board and one foot is near the upper middle of the board and below it. The nose of the board is typically off of the ground. This trick was developed by freestyle skater Bobby "Casper" Boyden in the late 1970s.

As a Swede I like the Stale Fish aerial grab. It was founded by Tony Hawk while at the Eurocana skate camp in Sweden. He came up with this kinda weird grab, and the lunch at the camp was some stale fish, and there you have it.

The details are insane. No way any one of these isn't the actual origin. Maybe dudes in the scene ,in the area,in the same circle did it also at arguable times but I'm fully convinced
