How EASY to Invalidate your new DJI DRONE Warranty & Insurance?//Mail  

Hi Dylan. I fly drones and use 360 cameras. The big thing to consider with a 360 camera is the increased work-flow. They don't record mp4's, they have their own format, which is best processed within their own applications. Sure there are plug-ins for premier and final cut. But, you need to tell the 360 file where to look using key framing, then export it as an mp4 before they can integrated it with other footage. A 360 camera can be a safer way to get the shot, I like to use the 360 camera to get up real close, or even through the subject, I especially like watching people's reactions, they think I'm getting my drone up close and personal, when in reality, its a camera on a pole 😏 These 360 cameras are just another tool we, as filmmakers can have in our kit bags. They can be used to to create pan shots, they can put you in the shot - using the "third person view". All funky stuff, so long as it fits with the subject matter your filming. If you do decide to mount a 360 camera to a drone then baby steps are the biggest advice! Put the drone up and leave it hovering beside you - is it happy? Training flights - do some very short basic flights to see how your drone flys. Above all, you have to get comfortable with putting both a drone and a 360 camera up in the air - just don't think of the cost of replacing them while you do!

Hi Dylan...totally understand what you say and fully agree. However, taking what you said to the nth degree, we can’t use 3rd party ND filters then! 😕. ....if, for example you had refresh and were a little heavy handed swapping the “hasselblad” cover and damaged the gimbal you would have no cover. Another great Video Dylan, thanks and glad to have you back, For Tom... I use 360 on my drone fairly regularly. I tried originally on my Mavic Pro, but could tell that the motors were struggling and the responsiveness was "all off". So I bought an Inspire 1, which can easily take the weight. I have only been working with still 360 photos until recently, and the drone has been perfect for that. Video-wise, is a bit difference as you get the vibration from the motors / wind so you must have a decent 360 camera with stabilisation, along with some good rubber dampeners on your mount. I'm still experimenting with the video side of things, but the Inspire 1 is doing the job perfectly and can cope no problem. Hope that helps

Hi Dylan. Thank you for answering my question so clearly and checking out my channel. I appreciate the feedback. I used the whip to try and hide the horrendous wobbly turn just before 😄 it is a bit jarring, in hindsight i should have tried something else. As for binning it, it was part of a 20 minute bit of video, mainly of under exposed images this bit was tucked away at the end. Ive learnt now to start and stop recordings more regularly. Does that mean they can tell when we put nd filters on because it’s a bit of extra weight ? Also tip for Tom GoPro have a plug in on premiere pro where you can have control over editing your 360 footage it’s integrated with GoProvr player when you install it you will see it add the plug in and works with all enquirectangular 360 videos on premiere. Usually 360 cameras will have their own desktop apps to export the video to equirectangular format.

I’ve modified (and crashed) a few dji mavic pros and platinums that were covered by dji care AND warranty. One was lost in a lake and DJI covered it under warranty. It had an add on battery, add on amplifier on the aircraft, and modded firmware. DJI analyzed the logs and cached video and covered it despite the logs showing it hit 58mph coming down (after ascending a few thousand feet along a mountain). The front arm folded in. Just putting this here because it should be known that DJI knows they can’t hide behind that warranty language

Is that your 360 video over Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast? If so I hope you had a great stay while you were here. We are pretty lucky here in QLD with the local councils being fairly relaxed about drone flying. As long as you follow CASA rules there are few restrictions that are put on us.

don't purchase any dji whatever care program or insucrance for a simple reason: you can get it a lot cheaper by taking your responsibility serious Why and how ? #1 Check the total cost for a dji care and the additional cost for the first case #2 Then check ebay prices for crashed dji drones even water damaged ones and you will see that the prices of these damaged ones are pretty high. Considering to sell all pieces separartedly like the remote, props, spare parts, batteries what ever you have you will get that money it needs to buy a new drone. I checked it out for Spark and Mavics , Platinum and 2 ... and always it worked out to be cheaper than an insurance especially considering that a fly away is not covered and a crash in water with no find of your wreck will bring you 0€ or Pounds or $. DJI had raised the fees for care and since then they started raising fees and so on. Do not forget: you will get an insurance from dji only for the first year and not a 2nd or 3rd so does not really make sense to hope for insurances that you will not get for a second year Start taking care and responsibility from the first second in your own hand and then you are best prepared for any case. In case you crash and can avoid anything then avoid water ... or highways ... but if a crash might happen when you know you will get the drone itself back in any shape do not worry, cause for about 100-200€ you can replace all dji consumer products and that is cheap considering what you pay if you crash a rc model plane where there is no market for crashed bits and pieces cause everyone gets sceptical. Crash a 700€ airplane from 100m into the ground and you will loose a lot more money. Therefore Dylan is right: avoid insurances that live from not to pay your damage by finding a point you had ignored regarding your responsibilities.

Loved it. You are so right about after market add on's to the drone. So many of them encourage bad behavior. Like the drone drop systems. What dose DJI say about strobe for twilight flight? the FAA says it is required for twilight flight.

Depending on the camera (insta 360 one X and one R cameras do) the camera can seriously effect the gps and make them difficult to fly so if you do be very careful.

It's like for all insurance cover, they will find in the very small print or/and interpretation of to invalid it 😔

had a debate with some German ignorants, full of self esteem , they claim the insurance has to pay if it is not clearly stated that tinkering with the drone or operation not covered in the manual is not covered. Boy, they are up for a big disappointment when they crash.

Hi Dylan, It's just awesome watching your videos. I own a DJI Mavic 2 pro..I have question ' when I fly my drone from a hilly area and if there is a drop of say some 2000 feet will my drone start descending? Or will I still have control over it...what if I press return to home and I have set the altitude to 250feet will it start descending if iam flying over a drop of around 2000 feet.. pls answer this asap... thank you once again for posting amazing videos...Zubair from India

#Mail Hey Dylan, I really enjoy the content. Do you think the DJI Mavic Air 2 is worth buying since it doesn't have any EASA C class rating or remote ident features. It would become a "legacy drone" with limited use as soon as 2022.

If you purchase the DJI drone and wait more than 48 hours you can't purchase insurance without jumping through some hoops.

I use two LED strobe lights for added safety and it is an FAA requirement if flying at night or low light conditions. I also have a set of the Master Airscrew propellers which are lighter weight than the standard issued propellers. If I had a failure caused by the drone itself, would DJI honor Care Refresh? Hi bought mavic air 22/ 8/ 19. Flew it 8 times every thing ok ,put it away over winter..April 8 fired it back up lifted the drone 2 metres and 2 metres away and lost signal,aircraft disconnected,this happens almost every time when I do get a signal it disconnects, about 50 metres away and returns to home.I have had drones for years,I have got phantom 3, spark,mavic bag of shit air,mavic 2 pro all dji drones,tried phoning dji , e-mailed dji 3 times no response..anyway it's going back to pc world were I bought it from, when they reopen let them hopefully sort it for me..sorry for the rant,just letting people know about the MAVIC BAG OF SHIT AIR..good info vid,stay safe ,subbed.

I flew my pro sideways into a tree and snapped a leg off. I told dji it was all my own fault. dji was fine and sent me a replacement. So have to disagree. They do cover pilots errors.

With all this data shame DJI can’t work out why the Mavic Mini is suffering from uncommanded descents!

It's a bit like buying a Mercedes and putting a Ford spioler on it🤦🏻‍♂️🤛
