Lets say a birdhouse run takes 1 minute and gives 5k xp. That's about 300k xp per hour. So over 40 hours of birdhouse runs for 99. Doesn't quite seem like 0 time
Yeah you wouldnt say birdhouses is zero time - same as farming is not zero time. I would question doing birdhouses to lvl 70 hunter, after 70 fishing drift net is 88k+ fish 116k+ hunter xp per hour post 70. I would reckon doing driftnet for both 99s would be faster than choosing to do barb fish for the minimal agility xp. If you took the "90k xp/hr" rate calc for the 3t barb, you can push over 90k fishing with drift net if you're good anyway. There are quite a lot of spots in the video I would nit pick here and there, but whatever. I was expecting rc to take paying for runners into account, and a lot of these rates listed are extremely generous when you consider doing tick manip methods from high 90s to 99. Like really looking at this video, with his calculation of ~1500ish hours to max, definitely could be done faster but I actually feel like it is some-what reasonable / realistic even if these calcs were made w/o the intention of being realistic.
Same for farm runs, even doing maximum xp/time like only doing a spirit tree run and the 3 mahogany tree cluster that'd take a hell of a lot longer than 0 minutes.
If you do darts between skilling it won't cost any addition time, such as doing high alc for magic while doing agility or smth, will save a lot of time overall.
@@soraroxesventerra If you do it between skilling it will take more "time", but because you're doing other skills the time can't be considered on "fletch time"
As you might notice, I made a critical mistake on Agility. Total time is 194 hours instead of 100. Also, minus 30 hours for Strength zero time through Barbarian fishing. after spending weeks on end grinding agility for 2-5 hours a day. I can confirm that nobody in the universe is capable of achieving 99 agility in 200 hours.
From the top of my head: Zezima was maxed in about 3-4 years, N0valyfe in two, Jebrim (first maxed in osrs) in 8 months, and now Im Gutfor did it in 4 months on fresh start worlds - to give a little perspective on history.
what about 1.5t or 2t for woodcutting, 2t is easier than 3t and gives a 50% increase in experience. Also, mining granite is faster than 90k xp/hr. 3t4g is over 100k xp at level 70 and 130k at 95, where you only have 10% and 70% of the final experience for 99. Also, anyone who cares about efficiency would not do single lavas to 99. Getting an alt account can bump those rates up to 110k xp/hr and with 1-3 runners it is very possible to get 180k xp/hr+. Pyramid plunder is better than ardy knights of 285k vs 250k. Should be 110 hours not 11 hours for 99 agility. Chinning is also over 1m xp/hr. Why do Dragon bones when you can do Ourg/Dagannoth bones for nearly double the experience? Gnome benches are 1100k experience an hour and cost the same as mahogany tables. Good video but I don't really understand if you're focusing on the absolute most fastest way or efficient way or just what the average player would do. All fletching and magic can be done with nearly 0 time spent. Sorry xD
u can just 0 time fletch u can do teak benches for con u can do wt till yew logs from 50 and the bonus wc xp starting from about 20wc is worth it ( tiny change ) and dont forget to account for a tiny little bit of fm xp being free from wc with infernal axe. u can barb fish to low 90s for the skip of slow agility level's early on, but then switching to 2t swords for the rest, the 0 time agi xp is not really worth it from 90-99 fish with the new agility method and the large xp jump at seers. Magic time can be shorten as you can 0 time it many ways either with slayer or imbue or high alchemy, monkey madness 2 caves might be fastest if you're trying to get magic up the fastest, but not if you're trying to max the fastest. u can do tiaras until lava runes for rc (this is a tiny one but im just playing along on the time saving game) Duo pyramid plunder certainly beats out ardy knights for thieving speed. Birdhouses are not 0 time, you can calculate it as about 1.20mins per run though. In theory at the speed you should be maxing this account you wouldnt even have time to 99 hunt from birdhouses alone so throw in some 1t black chins probably. Farm once again, is not zero time, its just passive, if you're being efficient and have unlimited money, but you dont want to do magics only because you want to be maxed early, then you'd be doing 2-3 magic tree runs a day, 1.5 dragonfruit tree runs once you can (alongside the magics), until unlocked df you can just ignore most fruit trees, you do your celastrus tree and your redwood. You could figure out what a efficient run with all teleports available takes time wise, get a xp/day and see how much time a day it is, see how many days itll take and that would tell you how many hours you spend actually farming. oh...and you most certainly dont do herb runs...
I know the devs and players who already got the cape want to keep RC how it is for the prestige, but it feels odd that the best rates you could unlock are at level 27. I feel like that needs some rebalancing. There would be nothing wrong with giving higher xp rates than what lavas are, even if they only scale up slightly.
Great stuff Kaoz! Small addition I can make is that I did some calculations and found that max effective xp/hr farm runs will take a total of about 30 hours of in game time for 99 farming. Similar for hunter with birdhouse runs, it's about 50 hours of total ingame time devoted to birdhouse runs to reach 99 hunter. So roughly +80 hours to that final time. Loved the video!
To be honest, I don't think there are any zero-time methods in the game other than alching and fletching during agility training. HP/Slayer/Defence all have to be trained through combat methods and therefore take up a significant proportion of the exp curve. Birdhouses and Farm Runs get inflated per-hour rates that also are disruptive to the general flow of your grind and take way longer than stated due to the gaps between their XP drops. The reason this matters is because Speedrunners have two definitions for speedrun timing. Real Time, or In-Game Time. Real Time makes 'Zero-Time' Methods obsolete absent enough padding to make them pan out. In-Game Time would abuse Zero-Time Methods. Neither would likely deviate from grinding to do them. There's also other factors, such as Questing, gp, Bond Maintenance, and account restrictions. Acquiring Gear and Bossing does add a major time sink to any rapid exp method for buyables once you have all combats and all gathering skills maxed. In Speedrun terms the gp required to make buyable skills efficient for certain categories alone would be enough to force a category split (NG+ would be the equivalent example for other videogames, in this case we can assume you're doing this on an alt). Ironmen also would have their own restrictions. Questing is 100% worth it compared to low level training but I do wonder how much time it actually takes. As an Example, one of the best methods for Farming and Construction is Zen Themes. It's equivalent to Planks in terms of expense but the extra time commitment for buying Bagged Nice Trees and Pink Dyes manually makes a major difference in the XP/hr rates. But that's time you don't have to spend farming GP through another method and it basically lets you max two skills for the price of one (puts you at 98 farming, roughly 450k from 99 as Zen Themes are unlocked at 65 Construction, assuming no investment in farming at all), making the best way to max for ironmen by far, and worth it for mid-level accounts who just want 84 Construction for efficient POH setups for slayer and PvM. I'm fairly certain if you used RTA and factored gp/hour it would be the best option. I think the better question to ask, at least to get a grasp on the actual time investment the average player might be spending if they were to try to optimize this from point zero is "How fast does it take to get an account to make 500k/hour?", followed by "How much GP do you need to start bossing?" Cause that's gonna take most of a quest cape plus sinking time into making 30-50 mil, and then you can get a reasonable projection on how much it takes to get the resources to start maxing. This strangely reveals why Runecrafting's the best skill to train. It actually punches through the earlygame GP issues while giving you good reasons to start questing and train Agility, which have net benefits across the rest of the grind. Gotta unlock those altars!
You need gp to buy the best gear/weapons to get the highest xp rates. Same with completing quests/diary tasks to unlock the best xp rates in certain skills. Those all take additional time to complete.
@@CommandoMaster Yeah, my point is if you're rushing to max that time to get GP likely would actually lose to actively training the skills themselves. Sometimes the budget or for profit option is more efficient if that's your actual goal, given you're starting from zero gp. Basically it's the difference between a main and an alt. The main from scratch always takes more time than the alt getting external resources to boost the xp rates.
the problem with leveling hunter (besides the ~60 hours it takes at ~80sec/run) is that it takes 208 runs 59-74; 822 runs 74-89; and 1706 runs 89-99... which is 2736 hours between bh run 1 and level 99
you can start bursting at 58-59 with divine magic pots, that would save u alot of time and effort(divine magic potion) + shadow burst. For thieving i believe pyramid plunder from 91 is about 290k exp/h, if u try hard a bit more
Well considering the 13 years it took me to max in what is now RS3 from starting leveling in late RS classic, I'd put my chance of maxing at OSRS at "maybe during my grandchildren's retirement after I bequeath the account to them as inheritance."
So if someone at maximum efficiency has to spend 144 hours 3-ticking granite to get 99 mining... that means that all of the people with 200m mining xp have spent AT LEAST 2214 hours solely on mining granite. 😟
i want a nit pick a little. fletching is also 0 time as you do it during agility / slayer (agility when running to next obstacle) (slayer between hits) range you can easily do 1-90 range just from slayer with cannon so 1-90 range is 0 time especially as using cannon will be the best possible time. hunter isnt 0 time as you are training hunter with out doing anything else even with birdhouse runs - same with farming you arent doing them between ticks of training. however it is still an interesting video good job. i just wanted to nit pick a little
Hey Kaoz, I actually remember that magic is considered a no-time skill and can be done through both high alching while agility and magic imbue while runecrafting to cut down significantly on the time required to max as fast as possible, for conversation and not an "i told you so" statement
is making primordial crystals into boots and stuff like that out of the question? i certainly dont think there are enough of these items in game to actually max out an account. but if we talking unlimited resources then these big baller items might be better exp theoretically
Maybe it was a slight mistake/bias on my part to avoid absolutely crazy/inconvenient training methods. For example, Demonic Throne gives 25k Construction experience but banking seems a hassle. As for prims; 15 buy limit might be too extreme to wait for all of them for 99

Since this is all theoretical you could of added that those sets, like Pyromancer. Every item / roll you got from Wintertodt would have been Pyromancer, theoretically possible but not likely.
45 fishing to 70 also you have the 1-70 strength and agil worth of xp. Of course youd try to knock out waterfall, sea slug, and tree gnome, first for the str fishing agil xp to start
How can hunter and farming be 0? Makes no sense, it's not a skill that just happens while doing nothing. I got those skills 70+ because I did regular runs to get the reqs for song of the elves quest. If I do all my runs (birdhouses, herbs, fruit + normal trees) it takes me about 30mins to do so, including banking, putting graceful on, getting my inventory right. I'm not trying to be most efficient so you might be able to do it faster, but still... So for one daily run that's already 3,5h per week in between your other training activities. Ofcourse you can be efficient and fletch darts or something while running, but still, counting 0 time is plain ignorant.
For prayer pre-70, why dragon bones if you've already stipulated unlimited cash? Ourg bones or even dagannoth bones are strictly better exp/hr. For smithing and crafting, why not include prif training methods? I know SotE has late game requirements and will take several hours (including various prequests), but it's the fastest smithing/crafting training methods that literally grant over 10m exp/hr (when gp isn't a limiting factor).

You can buy crystal shards from the GE by purchasing crystal seeds and trading them to an NPC. Assuming buying and trading are negligible, you have all the crystal shards you need. As per training, you take a stack of crystal shards and 27 crystal armor seeds to a bowl. You craft all into bodies and then decraft them back into the seeds, losing the shards but keeping the seeds. You can get 50k+ exp drops in 1 interface (you still need to revert the bodies into seeds, which does take time), which puts this method as: 1. Unlock prif. 2. Exchange shards. 3. Get 99 smithing and crafting in 2 hours (combined). 4. Lose literally billions in gp.
I would say with getting a max cape, I am not sure if it includes a quest cape or not... but with various quests needing to be done for efficiency in training... 1750 hours with the quest cape and like 1600 for all level 99s.
1555 wow my account back in the day had like 1300 hours and had 93 mining, upper 70's to 80's for all combat skills, WC'ing, and firemaking; and about 25 or 30-50 for everything else

Prayer could be slightly faster if using ourg bones, or if we wish to be a little more realistic since there aren't to many of those comming into the game dagannoth bones. It won't save an immense amount of time but every minute counts when we go for a true max ehp
