In this video I test the top speed of my gas powered HPI Baja 5B running the Stock Gearing and the 29cc Dynamite Motor originally out of my Losi 5ive-T Monster Energy Baja 5b Body - www.ebay.com/itm/385157346385...
Awesome for a 29cc! May I recommend the Rovan 2 speed transmission? Pain to install (diff comes apart), but imagine having faster out of the hole, and maybe 10+ mph on top end- all with the same motor/pipe! And the sound of slamming second gear is too cool! I have 2 speeds on 3 of my fifth scale gassers.
That’s cool looking RC. Looks like it’s a beast. I just picked up a used eBay special VLX slash 2nd for another project. It’s my first slash. Paid $140 for it with no controller. I had an extra. It has some wear but it runs good. Been looking over your series for ideas.
I have two of each traxxas nitro 😂 they all still work I’ve been bashing and racing for like 25 years I quit smoking so I have to have something to do with my hands
For any Baja owners- the best power bang for the buck is a Rovan 45cc by far! Drops right in. Gear WAY up, watch it go wheels up the entire length of the field (80+ yards at my field), and certainly over 50mph. And that was with a way too small 30cc pipe! They make a true 45cc pipe now. Or keep your engine and add the 2 speed. 2 speeds around $230, 45cc is around $280, either one will blow you away!
@@RCKnockout I wanna buy a RC car like this, i want it to be a Baja 5 not sure what type to buy is this a Baja 5B ! are there other models and what is your recommendation for me if i like to go all in.
I have a 5t 2.0 but I also want a buggy should have gotten a rovan when it was 300 bucks now it’s over priced do you think hpi Baja 5b is better than the rovan I might get the hpi for the name since the price is now similar, thanks for the video
I do think that the authentic HPI is better overall but the Rovan and King Motor machines do seem to be alright quality too…..I’ve used a lot of their parts when authentic parts were hard to find
Ive been so tempted to buy one but whats stopping me is why are they so slow and unresponsive? I guess Im just not used to gas powered RC's as Ive never owned one. Can you gear them up easily enough? They look absolutely unreal but just too slow to what Im used to. Great video btw, I really enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it! You can gear it up but the acceleration will take a hit…it’s never gonna be as responsive as a brushless rc… but the engine sounds can’t be beat
I thought because of the Monster energy graphics it would do 46mph 🤦♂️ lol! I'm gonna switch to Rockstar 😂👍 I like the black. I have a all black 5b I call black beauty... ✌️😎👍
45mph is great for stock gearing i would have guessed around 40 - 45 even though it has a different motor. I think these gas vehicles are pretty cool but i might stay on electric since it's less work and it's mostly cheaper. But that's just my opinion i still think gas rc's are cool and i wish i had the space and money to run one.
@@RCKnockout I agree it is easier to run electric rc's vs gas. But i don't think Nitro compares to gas or electric when it comes to maintenance and running.
Nitro isn’t as bad as people think. If you don’t know how to tune them it may be difficult to operate but if you know how to tune them and your getting the best out of your nitro and if it has a flawless tune it’s so much fun ;) I have 3 nitros an Hpi savage x 4.6, tmaxx 2.5 with a 2.5r engine, and a nitro slash 3.3 unfortunately the tmaxx and savage never got time to get tuned properly because I always broke something before getting to the tuning :(
I thought it was pointless getting nitros in the past when I didn’t know how to tune them and thought I had to constantly mess around to get it running but after I was taught more about them I got more nitros and to be honest tuning them is very easy (with most nitros) u just turn the highspeed needle clockwise to lean it if it’s too rich 1/8 of a turn at a time or if it’s too lean turn it 1/8 of a turn anticlockwise to richen it (same with the low speed needle
