Tragic that Hill injured himself playing with a stress fracture in a first round sweep against Miami that the Pistons had no chance of winning going in. He should have just sat out that series. While a lot of people are pointing out Grant's devastating ankle injury, don't forget Scottie's back injury. I like how the video pointed out Grant was like 1994 Pippen, because 1997+ Pippen was definitely limited by that back injury. It is a fun comparison to make because while the numbers are similar and they played the same position, their games were quite different. Scottie had more range, Grant had a better faceup/triple threat game. Grant definitely was a better offensive player while Scottie was the better defender. Peak Pippen against peak Grant Hill wouldve been a really fun 1 on 1 game to see. Too bad the all-star game doesnt have a 1 on 1 contest!

Grant Hill and Pippin and were fairly similar, it just so happens that Hill was highly touted and drafted so his development revolved around him being considered a franchise player, which he was, but when you look at what his leadership looked like, the scale was slid somewhat in the offensive direction to accommodate the status he held. They were far more alike than different in my estimation, just operating within different roles individually to fit their Teams' Mold.

Grant Hill had such a polished game, and I don't think any other small forwards had his speed and dribbling skills - he possessed a kind of face-up, new-age crossover, somewhat similar to Tim Hardaway with a lighting first-step. Nobody was breaking people down in 1v1 situations like G Hill at that size. He also had an extremely rounded game, and back then, it was another rarity to see players flirting with a triple double every night; I think J-Kidd and possibly Pippen and Hakeem might have been filling the stat sheet in 3 (or more) categories like Hill during that time, and Fat Lever before then. He's one of my favorites, however I gotta say, just going off primes, I like Pippen's ceiling to Hill's, as Pippen's defensive ability was better than solid; it was best-in-NBA, all-defense type skill that could win games. G-Hill, like Penny may have shown proof of greater skills, but lacked the durability. And sadly, because of this fact, "who's the best" talk with often-injured players is just 100% speculation. I'd go as far to say durability, in reality, is a part of a bigger picture to what makes players "great". No use being great on the bench with your crutches near by, eating up into the pay-roll.

Could jump out of gym before he got hurt, handled the ball like a guard, excellent passer, and could get to the hoop and finish at will. Pippen was a top two scorer, top two defender, top two rebounder, and top two distributor on six championship teams, and he nearly led a Jordan-less Bulls team past the Knicks and most likely would have made it to the finals. Grant Hill was a great talent and was quite similar to Pippen in many ways, but what Pippen accomplished in the playoffs year in and year out puts him way the hell over G-Hill. Nevertheless, G-Hill WAS a great talent and was something of the natural evolution of the point-forward position that Pippen really helped pioneer and which has led to the likes of Lebron and so many other point-forwards in the game today. Pippen's contribution to the game is overlooked imo.

Prime Pippen's numbers were roughly the same as pre-injury Hill. Hill was a little better in ppg, assists, and rebounds but only slightly on average if you compare their respective best years. Pippen was consistently a step better than Hill in steals and blocks. So I say roughly the same, numbers-wise. If Hill hadn't gotten injured and if he had gotten some help in Detroit, he would have surpassed Pippen's legacy.

Grant Hill , Vince Carter, T Mac, D Rose. They all played basket ball with tremendous skill and explosive play skill that requires strong physical body. Maybe if they play smart and avoid injuries through their carrier, it would been positive results like a ring or two.

I love hearing how these real players phase and emphasize the descriptions of their game and the adjustments they make; IT SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE THE ARGUMENTS YOU HEAR AT A PICKUP GAME! LOL!

The Bulls used to let Grant score and just shut down the rest of the team. And when the game was close they would clog the lane and since Grant couldn’t shoot, it basically shit him down.

Breaded Basketball Player Here 👋:To say that Hill was a better player than Scottie would be like saying he's better than Jordan. Grant Hill was Pre-prototype..In other words, he was the bridge..entering in the modern guard like ball handling and exiting the old school guard ball handling. Had Michael took on that defensive assignment, Hill would have cooked him, too. Scottie(offensively) was actually the best all-around offensive player out of that 90's Mount Rushmore. The only difference between Scottie vs. both magic and bird (offensively) was..that both magic and bird.. did not have to compensate their game for a 1on1 player like Jordan or Kobe. Magic and bird had more system like stars around them that were more willing to contribute to keeping the role players and the bench in rhythm. The sole reason why the triangle offense was implemented in the 1st place was to FORCE Michael to participate in the ball movement/pass the ball more. Before the triangle offense was fully established, too much pressure was put on scottie to sacrifice his own rhythm and disburse it amongst the role players and the bench and still produce. Y'all should youtube "scottie pippen retrospective". If any one wants to challenge this comment..I'm here.

He dont need to use too much energy and fancy crossover like kyrie ervin does. He only fake with one step then get easily cross defender to the rim. He got the most efficient cross over.

Grant Hill was a Talent, similar to Scottie Pippen in Height Build and Playing style - there where some games where G. Hill was getting the best of Pippen back then, but a lot of that had to due with the politics of Marketing/promoting the new Star. I miss those days of good strong basketball! 5:37 Video flash stats Hill 23Pts -7/16FGs - 8Reb Vs Pippen 20Pts - 5/8FGs - 6Rbs to me Pippen Had the better game more effective for his team with less attempts. Hill would flirt with Triple Doubles every night though and lets not forget both Hill & Kidd was CO-Rookie of The Year! That Last Clip of the Both of them Talking say it All...

take note other youtube creators - particularly young ones: The difference between "Please press the like button and subscribe to the channel" and "if you liked the video, then please like the video" is the difference between respecting your audience and begging your audience Its something thing we all despise: being told to buy something we've no interest in buying. that tiny word change difference makes a ton of difference in your "pitch" the first rule of pitching is there must be something to pitch. If you're gonna sell it, you best have a pitch that makes sense. And if your pitch is "like the video" it sends a message to the "buyer" that his reception toward the video is far less important to the creator than your liking the creator's video is" That's not a good psychological technique. "Yes, so", you might say, "but it's free and it literally takes 1 sec" And I will respond with, "but you'll ALWAYS have a harder time selling what's free, free suggests no value" so with that....if you want your likes, be like Mr. David here. Let the audience know you don't expect likes from them unless they "liked" the content. Funny how that works huh
