Tell me about YOUR journey with your chronic illness. We are all on a unique journey with our health and will take different paths. But what we all have in common is that we just want to feel better and get back to the way we once were before we had our illness.

I am 67 and had T2D and researched what I could do naturally, of course, it was diet and exercise. I have been on the carnivore diet for 4 months and my glucose numbers are at the pre-diabetic level. Once they get more consistent in the double-digit going to start eating salads again. I love vegetables so I am looking forward to reintroducing them back into my diet. Thank you for sharing your journey.

THANK YOU! We need more doctors like you! My rheumatologist treated me for lupus, Raynaud’s and fibromyalgia with only medication. I asked repeatedly about diets. She said they were FADS that didn’t work. After 3 years and desperate to stop hurting and enjoy life again, I did the anti-Inflamitory diet by Andrew Weil. It worked so well I weened myself off of all the drugs. At my 4 month check up my rheumatologist looked at the labs and said your in remission for the first time the meds must be working. I told her no the meds didn’t work. I took myself off of them and choose the diet. She got mad and raised her voice and said if I refused to take the meds then she couldn’t be my doctor anymore. I said okay. I’m fine with that. Because I’ve seen you for 3 years and I only got worse than I was when I first saw her. And I chose the diet and for the first I’ve I feel great and I want to feel like this all the time. She said it won’t last and you’ll be back and walked out. Guess what? I’ve never had any symptoms of those 3 diseases again. That was 9 years ago. Then I became scared of seeing any rheumatologist. But I wanted labs to just check my progress. I found a rheumatologist when I told him my story, he said he understood. Because he cured his heart disease with the vegan diet and refused the statin drugs. His friend his cardiologist got mad and they were no longer friends anymore because of it.

My rheumatologist didn’t express any annoyance with me, but I had similar experience. Once you accept the fact that drs, hospitals and drug companies are ALL businesses that require customers(patients), you understand a lot about your experiences with them. There ain’t no money in people cleaning up their diet and health habits. Good for you!!

Also my doctor got mad at me and loud when he realized that my cysts for which he had sent me to hospital, without me going there, had been disappeared completely after only 3 months of vegetarian macrobiotic diet, a diet which is renowned for its ability to swiftly dissolve any abnormal growth. In Austria, Europe, surgical procedures in women practically leave no woman unimpaired without having her removed any of her gynaecological organs over her lifetime. There is also sure money in removing appendix and tonsils, which, in my case, they cut out without any need - this is for sure - other than their financial gain and all of this is covered by health insurance.

I understand what you went through. I'm a dentist who has suffered from autoimmune arthritis since my teenage years. It got really worse when I was 19 years old and doing 2nd year BDS. I suffered so much 😅. I've been through so many doctors/ specialists and had different diagnoses. The diagnosis I believe I have is chronic reactive Arthritis ( 2 of the 5 drs diagnosed me with this). I was so desperate ,I went on reddit to find my solution. Elimination diet was what I learned and discovered that gluten was my biggest flare ( discovered this when I 24). Eliminating gluten helped me so much that I'm 35 now, and I'm not on any chronic meds. I couldn't stand or walk 😢 and now I hike every weekend. A blessing in deed. I hope I can help someone with my experience.

Bravo!! My daughter's BFF suggested DNA testing for potential gluten sensitivity, and her family and I went off Gluten 14 years ago! A number of health problems reversed with this switch - many to do with skin and mental health (i had brain fog, some anxiety and would get sleepy after meals high in gluten.) I had already gardenend and focused on og and whole foods for decades, and just smile when someone 'pitys' me when I decline a 'treat'

Sharmila - look into the old research on high dose niacinamide helping osteoarthritis! I personally eat whole foods, (lots of veg and fruit in season), no gluten, occasional dairy, some fish and pasture raised lamb (not fed grain) gf sourdough, homemade coconut milk yogurt, sprouts ... and garden and do Qigong and Breema. I take basic food quality supplements including liposomal C, agood B complex, niacinamide, magnesium, Boron and sublingual B-12 .... As the good doc says, everyone is different! Start with something manageable - if you try going gluten free, use WHOLE foods, not lots of gf products, and give yourself 3 months without 'cheating' ! Start getting more local veg and fruit that you like, and try something new each week. Keep recipes simple, and add favorite herbs. ... Notice how you feel and keep experimenting

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease more than 10 years ago and have flare ups. I too declined methotrexate. This summer was so bad that i finally decided to change what i call a boundry-less diet to see if this would help. So i cut the sugars and carbs to mainly vegetables and a daily protein shake. Its been 50 days and i have lost weight and no flare ups till last week. Because my food intake has been so monitored i was able to see what i had eaten different. A soup with tomato and canned red beans. Turns out both can contain high levels of lectin. I added apple cider vinegar to my water and have noticed an almost immediate relief from the pain. I’m hopeful this might help someone else suffering from joint pain. Lectins are what i think might be my culprits. A splash of apple cider vinegar in water my cure.

Hi friend, I saw your video on RU-vid. From the moment it started, I recognized your problem, but I waited until the end of the video to comment. I must say, you are a fighter. The way you handle your problem so positively is admirable. Please don’t take this the wrong way, but as a psychologist, I handle lots of patients who complain of severe arthritis. They take medicine for years, but they don’t find any solution, and even doctors can't figure out the exact problem. By chance, some patients come to me and say, "Ma'am, I have had this type of problem for the last 2 years, but the medicine is not working." So, I check their history, and you will be shocked: most of the time, they have a psychological problem. I advise them to change their diet immediately and start doing yoga. The plant-based foods you mentioned have the power to heal psychological problems. For example, Vitamin D: go out and take a sunbath. In their diet, I prescribe mushrooms. Mushrooms provide important nutrients, including selenium, potassium, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin D, proteins, and fiber. They have a long history as a food source and are important for their healing capacities and properties in traditional medicine. They have reported beneficial effects for health and the treatment of some diseases. Many nutraceutical properties include carrots, spinach, and fish. I also advise them to consume plenty of water and get proper sleep, which is very important for this type of problem. Additionally, doing yoga helps balance the body and mind. In my opinion, all diseases start from our gut, so always balance your gut first. It helps to balance your body..
@MeemeeChern
@MeemeeChern 20 дней назад
It’s not psychological problem but rather all those diets advised by the “experts “. It takes time to recover When one is damaged so severely at very young. So many body builders working in gyms often advise high protein without medical knowledge and training.

At 18 I started having severe, quite debilitating flare-ups. I had a consistent low grade fever and bilateral joint inflammation (initially though I was sleepwalking or something as i woke up every morning with a new joint looking like i banged it real bad). I had test and imaging done and then given the ominous diagnosis of severe RA. I was presented with grimm perspectives and made to understand that not only will my whole life be different but there is a risk of being cut short as the form of RA i have can affect your internal organs leading to cardiac and other complications. I was young and rebellious already so I was not going to accept the story point blank. And I will be forever grateful I did not. The anti-inflammatory drugs I was on later became a well known class action law-suit as there were related deaths. Within that year a lot happened in my life that revealed to me that my R.A has a very deep cause and it is not a physical one. I had a troubled childhood. Split family, parental alcoholism, cruel physical discipline, abandonment you name it. By the age of 18 I hated life, I believed people are not to be trusted and hateful to one another by default, I hated my self, I had a terrible relationship with my body. Looking at my disease…it was a clear as daylight I hated my self, my very own immune system had turned against it’s self, I turned against my self. I was suicidal l, disillusioned and defeatist. I decided I will make a change that will work or else check out for good. Just the simple act of doing some mental hygiene, grounding my thinking and intentionally engaging positively with life stopped flare-ups. I never had another one since. What I did have for a while was residual pain in the affected joints. Another change entered my life as I was becoming more serene and clear in my thinking and actions. I cleared my diet or started approaching food more on the basis of how it makes me feel versus what i was conditioned to eat and how. I stopped forcing my self to eat at a schedule 3 times a day (for my constitution one big and one small meal a day is plenty to feel energized and not weighed down and I let this settle naturally by just listening to the body more then the mental chatter about it). I never cut these items out off my life completely but they are used very sparingly and in their most “natural” possible form: bread, sugars (never white, i use primarily honey which seams to also keep the flu away as I am noticing; maple and some fruit every day); no alcohol ever (i fully believe it is corrosive to the whole body and causes short and long term damage, it’s basically poisoning your self and anyone whom had had a hangover knows that); sleep and proper rest is now as important as exercising and healthy stretching is not optional. It’s been now 25 years and I fee better then ever in my own body. Cold days come and my body may feel a bit stiff but not RA stiff if you know what I mean. Yet ultimately if I am to trickle the miraculous healing down to one major thing, it’s the mind stuff. If one does the proper hygiene, the physical changes demand them selves naturally, they come. When you are in a good place psychologically, you are more likely to start making good choices physically. And intentionally left it for last as it is the greatest tool in my toolkit: mindfulness meditation! It had afforded me to understand my self (body and mind) profoundly and clearly making these changes evident. Hope everyone finds the path towards health💖 with grace and ease🙏

Like you, I was diagnosed with spondyloarthritis 13yrs ago. However, I am not a doctor so my understanding of the condition took a little time. I didn't really want to take the meds either but did as I was desperate for some relief. I still experienced regular flare ups but they were less intense. Over time the effectiveness of the meds became less and less. My Rheumatologist told me to take even more powerful meds. I just couldn't do it so declined. My spondyloarthritis kept getting worse until to point I couldn't even walk from my car park to the office. I could open jars or bottle tops and I couldn't play with my young kids. I had disfigured hands, fingers, wrist, knees, achilles, toes. I ended up in a pretty dark place. I saw a naturopath for another view but this for some reason on made things worse. I read everything I could find for a better understandin but nothing I tried seemed to work. My diet was pretty good with very little processed food, so it didn't seem diet related. I kept a diary for many months of everything I ate to see if there was anything that caused flare ups. The only two things I found was BBQ food and food cooked with sesame oil. There was a curious coincidence. My spondyloarthritis was always much worse during hay fever season then mellowed after about 6 weeks after hay fever season ended. I never had hay fever until I developed spondyloarthritis. I brought this up with my Rheumatologist and was told it was a coincidence. This coincidence happened every single year. That's more of a coincidence to me. Both spondyloarthritis and hay fever are autoimmune disorders so I figured there must be some kind of underlying connection. After about a year of trying all sorts of things I revisited something that the naturopath told me that didn't work. I sort of resonated with my understanding with physiology, so I took a different approach. My readings lead me down the path of gut health and leaky gut and the body's resulting autoimmune reponse to circulating immune complexes. The naturopath approach was a kin to using a sledge hammer but in my experience gentle persuasion is usually a better approach. I tried using a natural mild intestinal cleanse supplement that you can take for relatively long periods that gently does over time what other interstinal cleanse methods seem to try and achieve in a day or two. I took this supplement with probiotics and proteolytic enzymes. When I started it was in the middle of hay fever season. Two days later I had no hay fever. I was blown away, so I thought that if I had hit the jackpot, my arthritis should subside in 6 weeks or so, and it did. You can't imagine the relief. I finally ditched the meds after 5yrs! I now take the proteolytic enzymes everyday and use the intestinal cleanse supplement and probiotics periodically and always at the beginning of hay fever season. Most of my disfigurements (bone edema) disappeared after about 1yr and the worst disfigurements took a little under 2yrs. I am now completely normal and have had no flare ups for 8 years. I have never had hay fever again either. I also read about how taking colostrum can strengthen intestinal lining health. I did this for 2yrs. It may or may not have helped but I do believe that my digestion is stronger for it. This might not be for everyone but it worked for me. It gave me my life back.

@@adityabhatnagar7210 I have not used vitamin D. When I first started I used Natural Cleanse (a natural intestinal cleanse you can use very day) and and Heal & Soothe (proteolytic enzymes), both from Livingwell Nutraceuticals. They seem to play funny games when it comes to shipping Heal & Soothe to New Zealand, which I don't appreciate so I changed to PhiZymes from Baseline Nutraceuticals. These were the best (for me at least), but unfortunately the company closed down. Now I use Doctors Best for the proteolytic enzymes.
@jucygmilford7095
@jucygmilford7095 7 месяцев назад
@@adityabhatnagar7210 Please note, I do not believe the supplements I take are a cure. I believe they reduce the chances of causing an over sensitive autoimmune reaction, which was causing my problems. Treating gut health is the most important part and using proteolytic enzymes helps mop any any CIC's that might trigger an over reaction of my autoimmune system.

Thank you for sharing! Very encouraging. Im 63. Black mold was what started my challenges 15 years ago with two drastic periods of worse symptoms after an accident and more mold exposure. Labs always came back normal so never a clear diagnosis - leaky gut, perhaps seronegative RA, D3 was low. So I research a lot and self-treat with diet and alternative supplements and homeopathic medications. Joint pain and stiffness in my hands, neck, shoulders, and rib cage is the worst but mostly manageable. Migraines too. I eat healthy and only eat grass fed meat and butter, imported cheese, line caught fish, and fruits and vegetables.Refined sugar and bread will definitely cause flares. I make my own sourdough bread with rye and whole wheat that doesnt bother me. I bake with maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar, or organic brown sugar. Daily short walks and an afternoon nap also help.I've never taken medication as I'm very sensitive and also allergic to most antibiotics. I believe God heals and I will live healed completely at some point. Ive seen improvement over this past year - I can finally drive again. I appreciate doctors that take the time to learn and treat beyond med school!

Thank you for sharing your story and all of the information you are providing for helping people treat rheumatic disease. I was diagnosed just over a year ago with seronegative RA. I was put on methotrexate which ended up causing liver toxicity after about 10 months. It was making me feel horrible; my hair was falling out, and I was always tired and sick to my stomach. I even developed an aversion to meat at that point. My doctor stopped the methotrexate and I’ve been feeling so much better. Anecdotally, we went on a trip to Europe after I stopped the medicine and even though we were on vacation and not eating our normal diet, I started feeling pretty good. I think the food over there is less processed than in the United States. I tend to eat fairly healthy, limit processed foods, eat vegetables, etc. I’ve started keeping a daily log of my pain level and what I’m eating to try to pinpoint what affects me negatively. I started eating very low carb and my symptoms improved pretty dramatically. My hands are moving better than they have in over a year. I will start adding things back slowly to determine what affects me negatively. Your videos are giving me valuable information and things to consider as I continue along this journey. My goal is to try to avoid medication for as long as possible. I go to the gym and visit the sauna there almost every day. It really seems to reduce inflammation and my hands feel better after about 10 minutes. I’m wondering if you’ve had other patients mention a dry sauna being helpful for them. I also recently have been showing symptoms of Raynaud’s and wonder if you have recommendations for that as well.

i cant tell you enough how much hope this video has given me. i was diagnosed with arthritis and fibromyalgia afew months ago. im 18. i started feeling the pain maybe 2 years ago but never thought much of it. started suspecting something was wrong in may of 2023 when the pain was persistent with my stress. anyways, ive been feeling beyond depressed. feeling so hopeless because it feels like theres no way out of this and feeling like theres so many things ive wanted to do and now i cant because it’ll only get worse from here. people not beliving me, telling me im too young, constantly telling me i’ll never make it in the world because of my conditions. ive been so hopeless. i cant thank you enough for this video. i know it’ll take alot of work to get to a place where i can manage my pain and feel more confident and not hopeless anymore. thank you ❤️

I had it since my early 20's and it's been very rough cause I'm literally always in pain. My lower back is really bad and just had surgery on Thanksgiving due to a bulged disc and sciatic pain. At this point in my life I'm willing to try anything as I'm only 38 and I'm tired of not having a life and always being in pain. So thank you for the hope that you have given me. 🙏. Thank you for sharing your story. My daughter is Asian and we found out the hard way that her ancestors did not live consuming dairy from cows so she is essentially lactose intolerant. When you mentioned all of the milk and protein powder that you were consuming as a teenager, my brain went “ah ha”! I’m of European descent but suffered from kidney stones for years after overdoing with protein powder in my youth. It takes years to reverse these “injuries” to your system and diet is crucial. Now in my late 50’s I’m finally piecing everything together. Keep steady on your healing and thank you for spreading the word so that others can follow in your direction too. Most doctors will suggest improving our diets but with little hope that the patient will so continue down the path of prescribing “bandaid” drugs, surgeries, etc. Lacking conviction, people are too often taking that path instead of lining themselves up for success. It usually starts at the grocery store.

Sadly the diet and lifestyle change that mainstream healthcare suggests is greatly lacking. I don't take anything except OTC motrin, or arthritis pain meds in occassion. Keep your body moving, as much as possible, keep your weight under control, pay attention to food reactions, and stay dedicated to not letting this take over your life. I'm am active, but have a lot of fatigue - so I rest when I need to and ask that my friends and family understand when I can't be a part of their plans because I have to hyper manage my energy amd time. I was diagnosed with RA in 2004 and have been on Methotrexate since then. Have been a pure Vegetarian since meat is forbidden. Being a doctor you chose not to take methotrexate but all Rheumatologists prescribes it for years and years. So we are at the receiving end of medications which are not good for us!. IST it the duty of the doctors to help their patients to the right kind of treatment. I feel so let down by the system. We don’t know any better so we go to doctors who at the start itself tell us there is no cure thereby successfully implanting this negative idea in our minds that our lives are doomed ans we cannot heal any which way. There is so much research going on about plant based medicines and the right diet yet Rheumatologists still continue giving us medicines….and we still have flare ups.

@grahameewins
@grahameewins 7 месяцев назад
I suspect the biggest factor was cutting out the processed foods, including seed oils, rather than cutting out the meat. Almost all meats contain no inflammatory properties. Vegetables and grains contain a lot more. So, if you're eating a clean plant-based diet and you still have issues, try cutting out the vegetables rather than the meat. Then, once healed, if you want, reintroduce some vegetables until you find what is causing you problems.

I was my life flashing before me because I had to work and take care of my family. Before my diagnosis l have been eating pork triggers my headaches, meat causes pain in my hardly eaten Chicken or Turkey now I mostly eat fish. I'm currently not on any medication, I had a short on my right knee which is the most painful one and told to do a replacement on both knees. RA is every where my neck, both shoulders, my spine and lower back. I'm on semi refined diet but after watching this video, I'm going to start a plant based diet. I suffer from arthritis from several broken bones from a severe car accident over 30 years ago. I no longer take pain medicine. I have been on a clean diet for several years. I grow a lot of organic vegetables and I volunteer at an organic farm to get things like sweet corn, and different types of melons that I’m not able to grow in the space I live in. Turmeric, ginger and cayenne are pain relievers for me. I use them in dried powder form in capsules, or I just mix the powder in hot water and drink. I also use them fresh. I have to take vitamin D, especially in the winter months because my bones ache when I’m low on vitamin D. Thank you for sharing your story. It’s very inspirational. I wish more doctors could figure this out like you have.💕

@rosemarythyme8595
@rosemarythyme8595 7 месяцев назад
@@maureenchallener1529 I wouldn’t say lazy I would say it’s more being overworked. Alot of them work excessive hours in hospitals or as surgeons. You’ve got to realize that in medical school they are not taught nutrition and they also are not taught that the majority of disease has to do with what we put in our body. I feel like to a certain extent that doctors are being brainwashed that only prescription medication’s can “cure” our health problems. Obviously, the pharmaceutical company is behind that. They pay for their books they help them with tuition etc. There’s a lot of kickbacks that they get as med students and there’s even more kickbacks they get as doctors from those pharmaceutical companies. I’m well aware that pharmaceuticals have their place but it’s gotten way out of hand since I started going to the doctor in 1989. What I see now is night and day in good ways and bad ways .

Thanks for sharing your experience, it gives hope for the rest of us with a chronic disease. I was 29 years old when I was diagnosed with polyarthritis. and I started with medication straight away, in this case, methotrexate, at that time I was very scared and I wanted the inflammation to reduce as I was afraid of getting deformed. Since I started with the medication I've had no pain whatsoever, from time to time a little bit but it always goes away one day after. Now I am starting to get scared about what the methotrexate can do to my body. I would like to try something else but I'm scared to leave the medication and feel that pain again. Your story does give hope.

Excellent video. I have psoriatic arthritis, pustular psoriasis, and mild Chron’s. With diet changes, I was able to stay off meds for 30 years (currently 49 years old; dx’ed w/ IBD at 14). I did finally have to go on biologics a few years ago, but with the combination above along with prayer, faith, and sleep, I’ve been able to stay healthy and active in the martial arts. Thanks for all the great info! God bless!

When my hand surgeon told me I needed thumb replacements at age 40 I said no! I did my research and changed my diet to vegan/plant based and I have full use of my hands again. Doesn't work as well for my knee arthritis, but I'm sure it helps!

I was at the beginning of Rheumatoid arthritis in my 20s. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I was young (26) and felt so tired and like an old lady. I reversed RA and fibromyalgia by detoxing and changing my diet. I’ve had major stress since middle school and was abused for a long time. I felt better in my 30s than when I was in my 20s. Now that I’m 40, I feel better than when I was in my late 20s. Whenever I feel stiffness or aches starting, that means I’ve been having too much sugar or wheat, so I cut it out. It’s stupid and preposterous to believe that diet doesn’t play a role in your health. How stupid are so many medical doctors that they can’t understand basic common sense: you are what you eat! Your gut health is so important!
