fun fact about vampire money: the clean version goes "3 2 1 we came to suck". someone , i think frank, suggested it as a joke, and the band went "hey, that's even dirtier than the original" so they kept it :)

So the story behind Vampire Money and why it's called that is actually that during the production of the album the band was asked to participate in the soundtrack for the Twilight movies. Why? The author of the Twilight saga was a huge fan of MCR and wrote the books originally as a fanfic based on the concept of their first album "I brought you my bullets you brought me your love". The band has never liked this and rejected the offer profusely going on to write the song as a criticism towards the project. What's even more funny about all this is that they then went on to later write a song for and perform in the children's show Yo Gabba Gabba and also made a version of their song Na Na Na in Simlish for the Sims franchise, so the fact they accepted these must have been further humiliation for the Twilight saga xd

A story I heard about Vampire Money. From what I heard, this song was written because MCR was asked to write some music for the Twilight movies. They felt that would be like selling out and wrote this song as a result. I have no idea how true it is.
@michelelearner297
@michelelearner297 Год назад
I've heard that too, and some lyrics could be making fun of people (in other bands?) who did take the "vampire money." "You look like somebody I used to know," "Hair back/collar up/jet black/so cool..." and probably others.

43:19 the national anthem bit in goodnite dr death is a reference to how american TV stations used to "sign off" at night, back when programming only went until 9pm or midnight and then picked up again in the morning. very cheeky to have it here in this post-apocalyptic concept album.

I'm sure someone else has said it, but I think you'd really like their song "Desolation Row". It's actually a cover of a Bob Dylan song, but they did a cover of it and it's in the end credits of the movie Watchmen (the 2009 movie, not the recent series). It's definitely one of my favorite songs. They have a music video for it too 😄.

My guy understands how much this album was slept on. Also it’s my pet theory that “summertime” is an homage to The Smashing Pumpkins song “1979”. Seriously listen to them back to back and tell me they aren’t soul brothers in song form. Edit: shit I got more to say. Kids from yesterday is phenomenal. The Segway from the anthem to vampire money gets my blood going. I love this album so much.

Danger days is definitely my favorite album just because its so clear how much the band loves their fans. All of MCR's albums are concept albums, but they're all concept albums in different ways, if that make sense. In danger days, you have the characters and the world they live in, but other than the music videos and the sequel comics, theres no set storyline. Its not like three cheers or black parade where every song is meant to tell an exact part of the story or be about a certain character. The band handed their fans the bones of a story and let them make the rest of it. Every fan gets to listen to the album and decide what they think the story is, and everyone's stories are different. People make killjoy OCs, maps for the Zones, headcanons for characters and backstories,,, there's so much creativity around this album and a whole subset of the band's fandom dedicated to making fanwork
@davidhelmut26
@davidhelmut26 Год назад
so the story ends after kids from yesterday, then dr death says goodbye and the radio stops their transmission which typically ends with the national anthem, which then transitions into the "credits" of the album vampire money

Here's your Danger Days Fun Fact (TM): Destroya was inspired by Hindu street drumming. Everyone in the band played drums for some part of that song and Gerard considered it one of the hardest songs they had created. Also, unverified fact: Spontaneous pregnancies occur when Gerard moans during this song live. ;-) Personal not-so-fun fact (TM): The first time we heard "Kids from Yesterday" I turned to my husband and said: "This is Gerard's farewell letter. They are breaking up." (The music video reinforced that.) It's always been a melancholy song for me.

with how much you love guitar solos, I think you'd enjoy some metal bands like Bullet For My Valentine or Avenged Sevenfold, they've got _great_ solos for BFMV I'd recommend the albums The Poison, Scream Aim Fire and Venom. Fever is also pretty good. I would not recommend Temper Temper or Gravity tbh (there's another newer album but I actually haven't checked it out 'cause I had too much going on lol) For Avenged Sevenfold I'd recommend... probably any album but Sounding The Seventh Trumpet or Waking The Fallen, simply bc I don't think you're quite ready for those. The lead guitarist of Avenged Sevenfold, Synyster Gates, is actually ranked as one of the Top 10 metal guitarists of all time, he's _so_ good

I am so glad you made a part 2 of this!! While scrolling through the comments, I've seen so many people saying the second half of Danger Days is better than the first half, and I literally couldn't agree more. It's such an amazing musical masterpiece, and I hope you like it more after hearing the second half! I could go on forever about how much I love this album, but I won't! I'm just gonna say a few of my favorite things! Luke when you said that Scarecrow was really good, I died. It's probably my favorite song off the album, and it is SEVERELY underrated! I'm glad you like it so much! Also, I mentioned how I used to fall asleep to Danger Days in another comment, and I just wanted to say I would be terrified when Goodnite, Dr. Death came on because of the audio jumpscare at the end. It is TRAUMATIZING. Anyway, I don't think I've ever seen FIVE automatic hearts in a row?? Amazing! I really love your appreciation for this album! Though it's not your favorite, it's definitely in my top ten albums! But enough about me, I wanna talk about this album! I freaking LOVE it, and the story behind it is so cool! I see you touched on the story behind the album at the end of the video, but it's more the meaning behind it, not the story that the album follows. I think after Black Parade came out and it wss very successful, the people at Reprise Records (the record label MCR was signed to) wanted more dark music to come from them, like more death, suicide, and other dark themes like that because it was making them money. But I think this album is just so good because they're doing what they want to do. They're telling the story they want to tell, and it's absolutely beautiful. Don't get me wrong, Black Parade and their other albums have beautiful stories too, but I just think they had a lot more fun with this one. They showed Reprise Records that they could do whatever they wanted with their music, and maybe it wouldn't be as successful, but at least they genuinely had a good time making it. On that note, the music videos for this album are INSANE! Though there are only 2 of then which is very sad (this album deserved so many more music videos), they are both really cool and definitely worth watching. Another thing I wanted to say is that you mentioned in part 1 how some people were telling you that this was their first album, but it's actually their last (not including conventional weapons and living with ghosts, which are just unreleased songs). Bullets was the first, followed by Three Cheers and Black Parade. Just wanted to clarify that! Though they do have a single that released in 2022 called The Foundations of Decay, and I'm telling you this song is AMAZING. Anyway, that's all I really have to say! And though I don't comment on many of your videos outside the MCR ones, I just wanted to say I really love that you take the time to read and respond to every single one! It's very nice and really makes me feel as though you actually care about your community! Anyway, I hope you have a great day/night, this is probably the longest comment I ever wrote, and I am so freaking tired rn. So long and goodnight! :D

I appreciate you with the info you gave me cause that gives me a good perspective to go with into the other albums. omg omg this video genuinely made me so happy nacho, you have no idea :'''') i'm so glad you enjoyed this album, a lot of people don't like it because it has a different sound and concept but that's what i love about it. everyone wanted another dark and heavy album from MCR after black parade but they didn't want to become sellouts and just put out what they knew would sell well and so they went against everyone and did their own thing, bringing a whole new sound and vibe, while still keeping that one thing that makes them MCR. the album also deals a lot with the topic of rebellion and that makes it even better because it's literally what they did, they said a huge Fuck You to everyone's expectations and ultimately did what they wanted to do. honestly it's probably my favorite album, objectively my fav is either three cheers or black parade, but subjectively it's danger days cause it has a lot of songs i'm emotionally attached to. i'll give you some more details about danger days if you don't mind :D Danger Days tells the story of the Fabulous Four, or the Killjoys (hence the album name and the name of the band's fans). in 2019 (which was basically in the future considering the album was released in 2010), California, there's this corporation, Better Living Industries, that brainwashes people and takes their creativity away, turning them into some kind of zombies (metaphorically speaking ofc). the Killjoys are a group of rebels living in the desert that fights against Better Living, since yk they haven't lost their "spark" as they aren't brainwashed. The Fabulous Four are a group of 4 Killjoys, they're the main characters in the album and they're based off the band members: Party Poison (Gerard, the singer), Jet Star (Ray, lead guitarist), Fun Ghoul (Frank, rhythm guitarist) and Kobra Kid (Mikey, bassist). they appear in the music videos of Na Na Na and Sing, and the guys were also dressed as their Killjoy characters at some of their concerts, so talk about dedication lol. also the story in the album is a prologue for the comic books Gerard has written about the Killjoys. there's a lot more to unpack about this entire universe but i don't know as much about the danger days lore as i'd like to :( but yeah this was for you to have more context on the sound and vibe of the album. all these interludes you're confused about, where Doctor Death is talking, have to do with the story presented in the album. also i believe that in Goodnight, Dr. Death he dies but i'm not too sure. now i'll go back to some of the actual songs in the album to tell you a couple things about them. Save Yourself, I'll Hold Them Back: so glad you liked it!! it's one of my all time favorites. i'm not too sure of this but i think this song is about/for the fans. you may know that a lot of MCR's fans are outcasts and people who struggle with mental health, as their music makes them feel heard and understood. the line "Get off the ledge and drop the knife" tells the fans not to resort to suicide and/or self harming (they talked about this at their concerts quite a few times so it'd make sense if this was the meaning). "Not a victim of a victim's life" i think this one means that even though shit might be tough for you, you don't have to be a victim of your own life, like you have a hard life and that kinda makes you the victim of your own life, but you don't have to be, you can choose to be the fighter, not the victim. "This ain't a room full of suicides, we're believers" the MCR fans were often thought of as a suicide cult (bc of mental health issues and also a lot of the fans were/are emo and you know what people think when they hear "emo"), when in reality we're people who've gone through shit but that are still here, we may struggle but we're fighters. there are so many lines in this song i want to address but the comment is too long already (oops) S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W: i was very surprised to see you liked this song so much, it's a very underrated song among the fans! again i am not very sure of what i'm about to tell you but i've heard this song is about a nuclear bomb going off, and the person singing is talking to their kid, making up some sort of game about hiding from the scarecrow, so the kid agrees to hide without knowing what's actually happening, because the person singing doesn't want their kid to be scared. it's a very dark and sad song, and i think it's a beautiful contrast with the light and chill instrumentation. Destroya: this song ties a bit more into the story of the album and if i remember correctly (i learned all this info 2 years ago and i don't remember it very well lol i'm sorry) it's about (or it has to do with) a sex android (that might be called Destroya), so that's what all the moaning is about (also you might notice that the first moans in the song are kinda mechanical sounding which i think is a dope detail) The Kids From Yesterday: idk much about this song but from what i know it's about the band maturing, and also about them kind of leaving something behind? as in a legacy if that makes sense, like the line "you only live forever in the lights you make" means that your memory will live on through the things you've done in your life, like if you did something to be remembered for, you'll live forever through that thing; it's probably a lot deeper than that but i haven't gotten into it too much cause it's a song that makes me cry haha (also yes, the focus of this song was definitely the lyrics and it's meaning) Vampire Money: so basically MCR was a big inspiration for whoever wrote Twilight and when they were making a Twilight movie they asked MCR to write a song for it; not only did MCR refuse (cause, again, they refused to be sellouts) they also wrote Vampire Money as a Fuck You to their proposal, i also feel like they kind of mock them in the song which makes Vampire Money such a cool song (also because the instrumental has such a rock n roll vibe you can't help but dance to it) ALSOOOO these guys are such geniuses that they wrote an EP called Mad Gear and Missile Kid that's basically the band The Fabulous Four listened to in the Danger Days universe (like how cool is that???); the whole EP is like less than 6 minutes, it's just 3 short songs but they're so fun and energetic, and in an interview Gerard said that that's the kinda music The Fabulous Four would listen to; you should listen to it, i think you'd like it but yeah that's about it, sorry for the rant haha i just like this album a lot. tysm for reacting to it!!! again, i'm really glad you enjoyed it. idk what else to say but you rock, keep up the good work :) edit: also i love how obsessed you are with guitars and how appreciative you are when it comes to guitar solos, I don't know much about music but Ray is way too underrated and I love to see people give him the credit he deserves, and same goes for Frank also, do you happen to have any recordings of Eclipse playing (that you're willing to share with us)? i'd love to see you play guitar :D (i'm assuming that's what you were doing in the band)

The second half of this album is definitely amazing, my favorites off of this would be summertime and save yourself. The reaction to Goodnight, Dr. Death was so funny, I don't listen to it as much due to the nation anthem at the end and it is really odd. Also you may get a better understanding of the albums meaning if you watch the na na na and sing music videos! A little bit of the story behind it: the album is in the perspective of the Fabulous Killjoys, as you will know their names in the Na Na Na music video, Party Poison, Fun Ghoul, Kobra Kid, and Jet Star. Its about them living in a dystopian future that's set in 2019. They try to fight against a corporation who brainwashes everyone, Better Living Industries or BLI. It's a really interesting story line and there's even a few comic books written about it by the lead singer, Gerard Way. Anyways that's it for my rant, I'm glad you liked the album! ❤

Songs like Jesus of suburbia and Letterbomb get slept on but I think you would really appreciate it

I used to not like this album when it first came out (yes, I am old) because I was used to their previous sound, but with time I see that its really not that bad, just not what we expected of them in the time it came out. I do agree that the second half is better tho. I really like the first album (Bullets) but you will see that the sound is much more raw and not as polished as their other albums which is to expect given that it was their first album... but still great, and my favorite MCR song of all the time is there :) They also released Conventional Weapons which is more like... a compilations of songs, but I don't like them that much (personally). HOWEVER, there are still some great B sides from the other albums that you MUST listen! Bury me in black, Heaven Help Us, Kill all your friends, My Way Home is Through you... to name a few. You will see that some of those B sides are HIGHLY regarded in the fan community. Okay, that is all, great video, see you!

Thank you so much! I’ll definitely look into their other albums! They actually released a single this year or last year so I’ll be looking into that too. I’ve seen you comment before so thank you for stopping by again! 😁💪

Loved this video and seeing your reaction to MCR's music of a different style than the other things you've reacted to. You should react to "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out" by Panic at the Disco, it's a great album and it would be super cool to see your thoughts on it

I know this is a lot of people's favorite MCR album. But for me, while it is good, it just didn't capture the same lightning in a bottle that they did with The Black Parade. Of course I am also not a musician so I missed a lot of the things you pointed out about their instrumentation and all. It is obvious that their skills continued to improve and mature. Still though .. the story to The Black Parade just resonated more with me.

I don't know if you are aware, but many people didn't like this when it came out as it was so different to their other albums. Someone pointed out in a different reaction that they made danger days different because the studios wanted a darker sound like their other albums, to profit on suicide and depression basically, so MCR decided to do something completely different.
@o5liviate

it's ok, if «dd» isn't your favorite. i personally love «three cheers» more, but at the same time think that «the black parade» is their best :) imo, «danger days» is just very special and it doesn't have to be better than the previous album

Oh dude no yes for sure! This album doesn’t come nowhere near close the black parade. The black parade tells a story and is extremely well rounded with wayyyyy more songs. This album is good don’t get me wrong, but not even close to the black parade😂 thank you so much for your support dude! I’m glad I see you again in the comment section😁❤️
