At orientation they will walk you through how to book your ARC appointment (you’ll actually make your appointment at orientation) and what documents are needed. Your Co-teacher should also assist by going with you to the appointment (but not all of them do this). I had 3 days before I needed to start teaching, so I was able to get what I needed to get me by until the weekend 😋

Hi Abulele, you won’t need to quarantine anymore 😋 as for flights they reimburse on that. It’s not paid to you before arriving in SK. If you need extra help for your first month. Hi Nonjabulo, some other people needed to pay for a deposit when they moved in to their new place. I was watching a youtuber (Letty Maps) she had to pay a deposit of R3000 and all her other expenses were similar to mine. So she spent around R1000 on food plus R3000 gas for her first month (R4000). This exclude medical check fee, ARC fee. Let’s say you budget R2000 for food, R3000 (if a deposit is required) = R5000 month 1, in case you get paid after month 2, add another R2000 for month 2. So R7000 to be on the safe side. The R7000 will be food for the first 2 months and other little things you need to get (pots,plates shop at diaso for these things) and R3000 deposit if you required to pay one. Don’t forget the ARC fee, medical check fee is separate from this. What do you think ? Maybe you want to budget less for food ? Maybe you want to bring more than R7000 in case the unexpected happens?

Hi Fundile, the EPIK website reads: Original Sealed Transcripts Applicants must submit a sealed (in an unopened envelope provided by the university/institution itself) set of final (reports the completed degree/qualification) transcripts from each university/institution where a degree used toward EPIK program or salary qualifications was earned. If an applicant attended any schools where credits/courses were transferred to their final school at which they earned their degree, a sealed set of transcripts will be required from these schools as well only if the name of the transferred courses and credit worth of each transferred course is not reported on their final transcripts from the university/institution where the final degree was earned. For applicants who have yet to receive their diploma, if final transcripts are not yet ready from the university/institution attended, applicants may submit a set of sealed current transcripts as a placeholder document. However, a sealed set of final transcripts will need to be submitted directly to the EPIK office no later than 6 weeks before their expected contract start date. Those that submit a placeholder sealed set of current transcripts to secure a position but then fail to submit the sealed set of final transcripts by the deadline will have their position revoked for that term. m.epik.go.kr/application/required.php

Hi Mao, for South Korea I did not need to apostille my TEFL. But everything else your are correct on. Apostilled my original police clearance and SAQA verification letter. As far as I know there isn’t an expiration date on SAQA and apostilled documents like there is on a PCC but double check me on this point

Hey hun, you can do a TEFl course regardless if you are a degree holder on not. As for can you teach with out a degree - not with EPIK. A degree is one of their requirements. I’d say search on RU-vid and Google - teach English without a degree - and see which countries you could go to and the process 😋 I unfortunately haven’t done research into this

You can follow this link to start do your TEFL course and get certified through International Open Academy: ioa.pxf.io/DVM7Yd I know a couple of teachers that did there’s through Open international academy. Alternatively, you can also go onto daddy deals and search under online courses and you’ll find a list of TEFL courses to do on there that are also affordable 😋 I did mine through TEFL on the beach which I bought on daddy deals.

@@maomao2733 yeah they’re using covid as an excuse but really covid isn’t an excuse anymore, i think they have a deal with postnet specifically but anyway, it is what it is. You can use other couriers too, it doesn’t have to be postnet but it’s just more convenient.

@@xolibagithi9514 thank the Lord you don’t need to worry about that. Quarantine is no longer necessary when coming into Korea. In fact just the other day one no longer needs to wear masks in some public areas. You don’t need to pay for quarantine. But if it was still a thing, it was a cost you needed to pay upfront.

Pleasure 🌸 they don’t want your original degree. You need to send a copy of your degree to SAQA (who verifies your degree). After that, the SAQA verification needs to go to DIRCO who will then Apostille it. Korea wants the apostilled degree 😋 In short, you don’t send any of your originals to Korea. Other than your recommendation letters

Hi Zuzile, 1st application - passed the interview and sent my docs to Korea but at the time SA got the 2nd coronavirus variant and as a result of this uncertainty, EPIK then decided to defer all South African applicants to the 2nd intake 2nd Application - passed the interview, sent my documents but didn’t get placed. My agency advised first come first serve could be the reason so I guess positions were filled 3rd application- passed interview, sent docs then finally got placed 🥳
