Join us in Jingmai as we pick and process sheng puerh tea with the local farmers. We will take you through all the steps from picking to withering to roasting to rolling and then sun drying.
We even get to roast a batch by ourself! This is a long video, but we hope you find it educational. We apologize for the audio quality in places.
You can try the tea we made in this video for yourself here! crimsonlotustea.com/products/...

Amazing process! So much hard work that goes into sheng puerh. I will continue to reflect on the ones who work so hard to produce amazing teas each time I have a cup. Really incredible. I highly respect their hard work. Thank you for sharing! Very thorough video. Such beautiful country there too! I could hear baby boss in the background several times. 😇❤

The spiders are a natural pesticide ;)

That's true. They do a good job eating the other bugs and they leave the tea leaves alone.

Hi, this is very informative and entertaining, thank you for taking the time to make this video! :) What happens if there isn't any sun for doing to sun drying? Do you only pick tea when you know the next 2 days are gonna be sunny? Also I really enjoy Yi Wu and Jingmai teas, which tea from your website would you recommend as the best for getting a feel for your teas and their intricacies? I don't really like samplers as usually I'll drink the tea 5-6 times before I really feel like I know and understand the tea and how it's meant to be brewed. It's fine if the tea is quite expensive, I don't mind paying more for high quality tea. May you and your loved ones be well!

The question about sunny days is a good one. It depends. A lot of places do the sun drying under a transparent roof that still gets heat on cloudy days. That stretches the definition of sun dried somewhat. Most quality production is done before the season where the rain and clouds come. We have a number of Jingmai production teas on the site; Midas Touch, Jingmai LOVE, and Honeybomb. We don't have anything specifically from Yiwu at the moment. Let me know if you have any other questions.

@@CrimsonLotusTea thank you very much for the reply :) I’ve decided to pick up a sampler of the 2020 teas as well as 20g of altered state and 20g of KLQM Radio. I‘m most interested in slumbering dragon after checking out more of your teas and RU-vid videos. Are your samples a 95%+ accurate representation Or are they different than full cakes because of differing storage conditions? I am not quite familiar with how samples are being produced, are they stored as a cake and then broken off as they’re about to be shipped? Or are they taken from cakes and then put into a bag where they remain until they’re being shipped? Would that even make a difference in flavor? I just remember one sample from another vendor drying out and tasting quite a bit off (it didn’t even taste like Puer anymore) so I eventually stopped buying samples and just went for yolo full cakes from then on. I‘ll move to a new place in 3 weeks, so I’ll wait until I’m at my new place before placing the order, it’d feel a bit risky otherwise especially with German customs involved. May you and your loved ones be well, thanks for taking the time to produce all this amazing content :)

@@axmy1776 That's a good question. Our cakes and samples are about as close to the same as we can make them. We make new samples maybe once a month and we take them from the same cakes that we sell. They're about as close to the cakes as possible, but variations can and will occur.

Great video ! thank you for the hard work filming it. I think that sheng pu erh is one of the easiest type of tea to process, is that true ? So the amount of work to process hongcha, and yancha should be huge.
@CrimsonLotusTea
@CrimsonLotusTea 5 лет назад
White tea is probably the easiest to make. Hongcha and sheng are probably pretty close. Hongcha doesn't do pan frying as far as I know. Longjing is pretty intensive work by hand too. I don't know as much about yancha production.

@CrimsonLotusTea
@CrimsonLotusTea 4 года назад
@@joshtanjner4399 Most of the small clay teapots can work as long as you keep a cloth between the lid and the teapot. Otherwise the motion can make them break. For tea storage I would just use a ziploc type sealing plastic bag.
