I agree so much with everthing you say about the four main characters and the world building being explained through songs, I esp loved that way of letting the reader know more about the world. Tarisai did some truly amazingly dangerous things to protect Dayo and I RESPECT HER. I'm definitely rereading it soon!

Raybearer is the book that i started yesterday and im so in love with all 4 characters. Omg this book is the first fantasy book that i really love and looking forward to sequal this year... Highly recommend.... Ahhhhh I can't get over the cover and i have my theories abt it.......

I love both Raybearer and its sequel Redemptor. It might be my fave fantasy YA or fave YA in general. It's well-done and so comforting.

I literally found this channel today and have been watching it all day. My wallet is crying lol, I've purchased SOOO much fantasy thanks to Joel's recommendations. This channel is everything I wanted in booktube YEARS ago: A booktuber who actually demonstrates not only an awareness of race, capitalism, the dangers of fast fashion, etc. but also a willingness and drive to continue to learn and grow in his knowledge the world around us. I could cry. And he recommends great booktubers too! I hope for nothing but joy for Joel. May life continue to bring you blessings and great news!

I'm hearing a lot of good reviews about this book, but the comparison with children of blood and bone scares me a little, cause that book and its sequel were underwhelming the story, (avatar with black people) the characters development, the world building the magic system and especially the WRITING !! sigh, it read like a fanfiction book, I enjoyed your review I would still buy this book
