Philippines is a melting pot way way back pre-Spanish era, but the influence of Spain is practice even till now.

We pronounce “ll” as “lya” like Padilla as Pa-di-lya Bobadilla- Bo- ba-di-lya, Villar - Vi-lyar, cigarillo- si -ga-ri-lyo, mantequilla is man-te-ki-lya. Another color that tends to be switched from Tagalog to Spanish in the Philippines is Verde/green (berde) -the correct term is 'luntian.' 9:35 We use the term 'negro' to refer to people who have dark skin. on occasions we do use negro to describe something black and blanca for white.

Actually we also call couch- sofa We only use the world silya if it's like a chair. We use the word Kamiseta for Blouse too and we call the plates plato and platito for small plates. Some elderly people here still use "agua" to refer as water too infact we call holy water "agua bendita".

Even in counting it's just the same. 1 is uno,dos is 2 ,tres is 3, quatro is 4 and so on. The difference is how we spell it, but the pronunciation is similar. It is my understanding Las Filipinas was colonized by Espana. In matter of similarities... there is about 900+ words using inserted within the Tagalog language. After 1898, and again The Philippines became a colony of the United States ergo the English language was inserted into the Tagalog along with the Spanish. Modern day Tagalog is a combination with English & Espanol words inserted combination of the regional most used the Tagalog. There isn't similarities just words insertion within the Tagalog.
