Honda changed the entire supercar definition when they released the Acura NSX in 1990. The NA1, NA2 and even the NC Honda NSX were the perfect balance of supercar, and street car. Reliable, fast and cheap, the NSX took on Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche, and WON.

I have little faith there will be another NSX worthy of the name. Honda is run by bean counters nowadays and their engineers are either required to tame all their creations down to the masses or simply lack any creativity unlike their predecessors.... The new Civic Type R in their current form should have come out in the early 2000s. Can you imagine it doing comparisons with the likes of SRT 4s, Mazdaspeed 3s etc???

Affordability, practicality, lightweight is not about electric cars at all. They are as hell expensive, because of battery, they are damn heavy, and it still requires a lot of time, charging them, and they have much less mileage compared to i.c.e. cars. Technology is developing, but it would require a huge amount of time making EVs, especially sporty EVs competitive to i.c.e. cars in most aspects. Plus no engine sound. Concluding all I have mentioned before, honda EV nsx won't be comparable with the original nsx at all, not even close, even if it would be a good electric sportscar (probably).

EV cars CAN compete. I’m born and raised on gas powered coupes. I was brought home from the hospital in a 65 Mustang with a 289. Took my drivers test in a 83 Thunderbird with the 5.0 V8. Just about every carmaker has an EV or a Hybrid car. Porsche has an EV, Ferrari has hybrids, Ford has the Mustang EV,and the Lightning pick up, GM has the Volt and the Hummer. They ALL work. They have decent range and you can charge at home or at a charging station- which are becoming more and more available. You couldn’t say that two years ago, now… EV has come and there is NOTHING we can do about it. Like I said above I love gasoline,but I’m starting to like EV. They even sell the pieces a la carte so you can build your own.

That's my midnight purple NC1 in the middle there at 8:07. I've heard and read enough commentary and opinions on the NC1 and really have to interject. People have said, "If it was only $110K or $130K, that would be a sweet spot." To be honest, the original NSX was unobtainable to most in the 90's and well into the early 2000's. By the end of production, in '05, the NSX was a six-figure car. I don't think it's necessarily too overpriced because the NSX has never been an entry- to mid-level enthusiast car. The original NSX was tested against the F355, 911 Carrera 4S, etc., so if you compare the new NSX to let's say a 570S or 488, then it's still a bargain in comparison. The NSX DNA to me is a practical, everyday supercar, and I think in that sense they hit the mark again. Test driving a car for a day or two isn't really truly living with the car to learn it's underlining characteristics. I have drag raced, road coursed, rallies, roll raced, canyon carving, grabbing groceries, date nights and daily errands with my NC1 NSX for 2 years now. Went on to add 26,000 miles on the odometer in that same time. It's the most practical supercar you can daily drive without hassles. The original NSX was innovative in a lot of ways, and I think Acura tried to do this again in the new generation. Yes, it's overloaded with technology when compared to cars in the same class, but really it's like a 918 Spyder but for a third of the price. I think as time progresses, more of these types of features will trickle down to middle/entry-level cars and the second-gen NSX again will be known as a car that brought supercar technology to the masses.

Great video. I love my na1 and won't ever sell it unless I'm too old to drive it comfortably and it's worth a small fortune. Best and coolest car I have ever owned. I have lots of fun talking about it with people when I'm out in it and letting people sit in it and watch them light up and smile. It is a car that makes a statement without being a typical "latest and greatest " shiny sports car. The latest nsx, like most of the new stuff just isn't that exciting to me and personally isn't worth the cost. I miss the 90s jdm manufacturers, but at least I have a gem to remember it.

You know trashing the newest NSX is a disservice to Honda/Acura. I have owned a 91,92,95 (NSX & NSX-T). All were great fun cars. The 91 fastest, 92 a little slower and the 95 ate clutches. Orig dead at 18 K miles, second at 35K. My 2017 is almost perfect. Actually it is perfect. Valencia red paint, big polished wheels, carbon ceramic brakes , ELS audio, Navi, Alacantra interior bits and V1 radar system. There is nothing H/A could do to make this much better. Most folks except R/T or C/D don’t care if the 2019 tracks in Japan one or two seconds faster around a race track. We don’t do that daily with our $100-200K cars.The NSX is so much more entertaining than my previous two Porsches, both 911’s. It’s easy to get in and out of and I am over 6’ tall too. @@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA I have to disagree. The original NSX was a more groundbreaking car when it came out. All aluminum body, twin plate clutch, 8000 rpm redline, Honda reliability, titanium connecting rods, an amazing intake sound, one of the greatest shifting transmissions of all time , great visibility and ergonomics and Ayrton Senna gave input and helped to test it. When Gordon Murray was testing all the supercars to help him with ideas to apply for his McLaren F1, he drove an nsx and forgot all about the European machinery. He had his new benchmark and owned one for 7 yrs. The new nsx is very impressive with all its hi tech features, but its simply not as grounbreaking. The problem with 2nd gen Honda NSX NC1 is that it's too expensive. In some countries like Australia, the price is even the same as based stripped Ferrari 488 and Lamborghini Huracan. Sure the NSX with same price is generously loaded and not bare stripped but most customers and sales numbers proves that price is definitely one of important aspect if you're not a prestigious brand Honda NSX 1st gen NA1/NA2 know this and offer 90% performance of Ferrari 360 at 50% price which is totally bargain. That's also the formula followed by Nissan GT-R when released 12 years ago and it succeed by offering 90% performance of 911 Turbo (997) at 50% price, making it known as Giant Supercar slayer (IMO that honor should be for Honda NSX NA1/NA2) When your brand is not prestigious and the performance is not top of the game yet dare to ask price that high, the result will always the same, very limited customers. Just look at Lexus LFA and Nissan R390 GT1 And no, just because their current used resale price is shooting through the roof now doesn't mean it succeed. The automakers receive little to no benefits if the current used resale price is even more expensive than original MSRP. What counted as success is when customers buy it BRAND NEW from dealersand the cars are sold out with long waiting lines. A good example of this, just look and compare at how many years Lexus LFA need to sold all 500 units while thousands of Toyota's own in-house GR Yaris was sold out in most countries for less than 2 months

Expensive to who? People who work minimum wage jobs hoping to someday save enough to finance one of these cars by living in a 1 bedroom apartment with 5 other people and living off of Top Ramen just to be able to make the car and insurance payments every month? $157K MSRP for a technological breakthrough of a twin turbo hybrid supercar that is 100% practical for every day use and with 99.9% reliability is a fucking steal by any standard measure. People will cry when then see what McLaren and Ferrari will be charging for their TT V6 hybrids (Artura/296GTB). Try $225K-$350K base MSRP for a V6 that is only a 3.0L from the big name companies. I bet no one will even complain about that because the cars will have a kiwi and my little pony badges on the hoods. Ha!

@@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA Sales Number will shows, no matter how you sugarcoat it. The problem is they have more prestigious brand, especially Ferrari, that's why customers will still flocking to their dealers despite treated harshly. Else NSX will be commercially successful since at the same price or slightly cheaper, you can get fully loaded NSX while you can only get stripped version from competitor brands. That's what happen to both Lexus LFA and Nissan R390 GT1, despite their excellent products, most customers still see it as Lexus and Nissan brand And no, even if in the future the used price of NSX NC1 soars like 1st gen NSX NA1 / NA2 or Lexus LFA and you say "Hah, I told you so". IT STILL NOT COUNT as success for automakers. It's count as success if customers flocked to dealers and buy it brand new from dealers, just like current GR Yaris which sold out in most countries and still have long waiting line to buy 1 also that engineering marvels you talk about, while cool but most important is how it runs in real life. What's the point of those engineering marvels if it's only slightly faster than GT-R (which is much cheaper) or still lost to competitor with same price such as 911 Turbo. I don't need to show evidences for this one since you can search it easily especially when NSX was compared to several competitors in several car review channels If I'm what you say "People who work minimum wage jobs hoping to someday save enough to finance one of these cars by living in a 1 bedroom apartment with 5 other people and living off of Top Ramen just to be able to make the car and insurance payments every month" and I decide to spend $157k MSRP for reliable mid-engine sportcar then probably Porsche 911 Turbo, not to mention it's also faster. OR I can just save more than $50k and get Corvette C8 which offer 90% performance for literally half-the-price of NSX NC1

@@taiminsen8069 Nissan never sold the R390 GT1 to the public Ha! (face palm) Nissan built one street legal car for homologation. If a music album doesn't sell a million copies does it mean the band wasn't a success? R35 GT-R are known for several issues with their GR6 trans, bell house issues among bent rods with any power over 600awhp and the DCT forks as well as a few other mechanical failures. How do I know? I have owned 2 R35 GT-R. The NC1 NSX is a far superior platform and is 100% reliable. Porsche 911 are not the same price as an NSX they are $100K+ more or higher. The 2022 992 Turbo S are going for $270K-$300K right now and a 2022 GT3 is over $300K. You are out of your mind comparing 911 Turbo pricing to an NSX. Christ on a cross! C8 Corvette? They are junk. I've seen a few at the drag strip snap stock axles on bone stock cars. They run high 11's low 12's in the real world and they have an outdated pushrod V8 that makes the infotainment in the NSX look as fast as a Plaid by comparison LOL.

@@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA Nissan was trying to sell it, some media such as Road and Track was tested it at 1998 (by Sam Mitani). It was written "Now Nissan is keen to to keep the ball rolling, announcing plans for another Le Mans effort next year (without the help of TWR) and officialy making the R390 GT1 road car available to costumers for the cool price of $1 million". My personal opinion is due to its prestigious competitor such as Porsche was selling 911 GT1 at cheaper price for $912,000 and it's just a "Nissan" for most customers might affect it Don't change it into Band and stick it into cars. And yes, it matters especially if you want to support this kind of cars to exist, you need to buy it brand new from dealers, not buy it as used cars Why you compare it to recently release 992 Turbo S when most car reviewer and journalists compare it to 991 Turbo ?? A simple search will shows it has the same price, for example: autoexpress in UK quote as tested 137k (991 turbo) VS 143k (NSX), while in Australia NSX cost aud 400k VS 991 turbo start at aud 385k. Even at USA, caranddriver quoted 2017 911 Turbo price as tested for $168k (base at $161k) VS 2017 NSX NC1 price as tested at 200k (base at $157k), while motortrend also quoted 991 Turbo's baseprice at $161k. Do you see the problem ? at some countries it even more expensive, just as I stated before. Now I ask back same question to you, are you out of your mind ? Yes you said GT-R are crap and NSX are reliable, but the fact that you owned 2 GT-R said it, unless soon you gonna sell both and buy NSX NC1. Yes, you said C8 corvette and GT-R R35 are trash, I got it. But the fact sales numbers says otherwise is hard to argue. You want to support Honda to keep building NSX ?? then do buy NSX, if possible two NSX just like how you own 2 GT-R, and no, buying used is not count. If you want to support them to keep making it then buy it directly from dealer The fact NSX NC1 total sales numbers is just 1/3 of NSX NA1 / NA2 says a lot. The fact that Honda can only sells 10 NSX in Australia while Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren can sell similar price 911 Turbo, 488 GTB, Huracan and 570s more than NSX says alot. The fact that even they stop selling NSX at japan since 2021 also says a lot I repeat, you personally satisfied with current NSX NC1 ? Good for you, now go gather all people who want to spend $160k for mid-engine sportcar, bring them to Honda dealer and buy those NSX brand new to support Honda automakers
@ELECTRICEYEMEDIA

@@taiminsen8069 Again, Nissan never sold the R390 GT1 as a street legal car to the public. A 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo had a higher MSRP than the 2017 NSX did. Acura also offered $20,000 (USD) rebates as well offsetting a fully spec car at around $149,000 (USD). Why are you comparing the sales numbers from an NA1/NA2 to an NC1? The NA1/NA2 were in production for 15 years and Acura/Honda made 18,685 NSX from 1990-2005. This means they averaged 1,245 cars per year. The NC1 was only in production for 5 years 2017-2022 with only 2,908 cars ever made. The average made per year was 582 per year, making the NC1 by far more rare and exclusive than it's predecessor. Of course it sold less, because there were less cars.

Wait. You said that the last NSX was in 2007. I’ve owned 3 of these 🚗 cars. 1999, 2002, and what I believed to be the last year of them the 2005. Every dealership I had a dealing with said that it was the last year!! So was your statement wrong or???? By the way, my 1999 was the best year I’ve owned . It never had any kind of problem. Best handling. Smooth, fast, well as fast as a v-tec could be. The new ones are a basic POS. I would eagerly give that 165,000.00 for my old 1999 over the new super car as they call it. Better yet, I’ll just stick with my Mercedes Benz & my BMW X5 50i AWD.

I would say, we are missing the RX7 and the Supra and ZX before NSX came in. Problem is, if the price tag is not out of reach, people don't believe its a supercar. I would say, NSX was the best. Wish they had listened to Senna and given it more power. NSX R with 400 was limited but the sweet spot. The new NSX V10 was cancelled because of bad design. Of course they had to give the design to a woman whose previous designs didn't sell. And Honda stopped that car's production. Seems being connected helps even with failures.

Am I missing something? Formula 1's power to weight ratio is insane. The NSX weights maybe 2700 ibs, so the power to weight ratio would be almost 50/50. A formula 1 car weights waayyy less than that with like 800 hp. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's no where near the same power to weight ratio as an F1 car.
