My snowblower crapped out, so I built something I have wanted to build for awhile- an engine stand!

I built one out of an old Poulan Pro Tractor It’s shortened and wired for all different engines, I also kept the steering so it’s portable.

the nose section that you threw out the door should have a brass gear been a few years but last time i priced one it was over 50 dollars .. check out a push mower self drive unit might have the gear in question ,, they love them gears in mowers and snow throwers and love too make you pay for them also ..

I kept the gear. Might be worth something, some day.

the new snow thrower .. the clutches where the turning cables go by the wheels .. if it's the unit I think it is ,, 3/8 or 10 mm bolts take the side covers off .. snap ring pliers the clutch cover comes off there should be 3 gears in there .. factory is cheap on the grease ,, it's been over 10 years since I worked on them .. think there is bearings in the gears they will get rust or eat them self being dry .. under the belly cover the hex shaft ,, clean dirt / rust and lube the shaft light on the lube don't want grease thrown on the rubber drive system ,,check the bolts that pinch the rubber in the drive they have come loose and the rubber pops out ,,

I would love to see a series of videos where you mount that snow blowing section to the front of a mower. Its something I have been looking at doing but everytime I find a blower my family finds another member who needs one....which it's more important grandpa has a snow blower then I play with another project

I have the same blower and had the same problem. Mine lasted only about 10 hours. I live about an hour south of you so I get much less snow. I use the blower maybe 2 hours a year. Its a very poor design. The two tapered side drive plates align the bronze gear to the worm gear when fully engaged. But when released the worm gear is literally milling away the bronze gear teeth when disengaged. As you found out parts are not available. I did buy a new axle for just over $200. This is typical of what's going on today with all types of equipment. Cheap low quality off shore products for max profits with a made in Canada price. I've been turning wrenches for 50 years and have seen a steady drop in quality due to corporate greed. Profit before quality.

Hey great vid on making something useful from a pile of dump, I love small engine stuff (started rebuilding small mowers at @ 10 yrs old watching my dad) and I also love RC stuff, the first thing I noticed hanging on the wall in the vid was the ugly stick logo and was thinking (I wonder if he's into rc planes?) That is so cool, I started my first plane back in '82 or 3 and taught myself how to fly and now I'm in to helicopters too, looking forward in to checking out your other channel!

Would you believe that I had to go back and LOOK for that Ugly Stik tag? Heck, it's been so long that I forgot I stuck that on the door! LOL Thanks a bunch!

I should point out, though- that Ugly Stick references Shakespeare's line of Ugly Stik fishing rods- I swear by them.

I got a question about my Murray wide body LT it will not start. I'm a bad person it set out in the rain and the Ignition switch would not even work. I added some libercut And got the switch to turn my opinion is the switch is bad. My question is how can I Bypass it and run? I really need these thing right now to move things for me. boats to be moved.

Disconnect all engine wiring from the chassis. Now (making sure the damn thing is in neutral- apply 12v+ directly to the starter stud. It'll crank. IF your carb has a solenoid on it, you'll have to supply a constant 12v for fuel delivery. Note that when you do all this, NONE of the safety switches will work, and you'll have to ground the kill wire to the chassis or reconnect the harnesses to shut it off.
