I think we mostly have too many laws, but I make an exception here. It should be REQUIRED BY LAW for cars to be offered with the choice of "classic" keys free of any chips whatsoever. There are other things to consider besides security, like convenience, like being able to make key copies without spending a week's salary on it.

Hyundai and Kia up until 2020 doesn't have this theft system installed in their car. A lot of young kids knows about it. And all you have to do is break the ignition to start the vehicle. A big Flathead screwdriver less than 30 seconds with a hammer and you've got the car running. I live in Denver and we're leading the country right now with car crime you have no idea how bad it is. We are all going to pay when the insurance prices are going to go up. And it's not going to be $200 to make a key with the chip it's going to be way more per year.

Afa the "kia boyz", Ive already seen a few of em layed tf out on the pavement, so they aint gonna be taking much of anything anymore. Anyone with a KIA that doesnt know how easy they are to steal at this point must be living in a well. Anyone who's actually conscious ought to have sense enough to take a few precautions....

Thank You - You save me heaps - instead of buying a new programmed key from dealer at $150 - it Cost me only $6.00 blank from ebay and $10 labour cost for cutting the blank. ow my new key works like a charm.

you are not actually bypassing, you are still using the transponder, just permanently mounting it in the car. What I want to know is how does one DISABLE this "security feature" on a vehicle that no one wants to steal?

Yes, i want to know which wires to jump so it thinks key is THERE all the time, there is 4 wires, if i grab wrong ones it may lock out ignition (anti theft mode)

@@martinfuller1387 If a vehicle is equipped with a transponder immobiliser system connecting/jumping the wires of the pick up coil around the barrel will not start the vehicle, neither will the vehicle start if the wires on the back of the ignition switch are connected to each other.

@@jimwheatley4314 There is no "right wires" to connect at the back of the ignition switch or on the coil of the transponder. The coil picks up the signal from the chip in the key and sends the info to the ECU, if the info is correct the ECU will allow the car to start, if the info is incorrect or missing the ECU will not allow the car to start. by simply connecting the wires on the back of the ignition switch will not start the engine because the correct signal of the chip in the key is missing. On old vehicles is was possible to start the engine by simply connecting the positive wire on the back of the ignition switch to the ignition wire and then touch the starter wire to the positive but a modern vehicle with a chip in the key cannot be started like that. From the video it is clear that the chip is still used (glued to the key cylinder 2:45) and that is why this video is not a bypass. What was actually bypassed? Nothing, the title is misleading and the video is of no value. Remove the glued in chip and you can connect wires till kingdom come and the engine will not start. Do not believe all nonsense videos like this. What do you think is the purpose of the coded key is if it as simple as connecting the wires?

n older GM passkey 1 and 2 system used 12 different resistors embedded in the base of the key. It wasn't even a special transponder. The resistance of the key was measured when the key was inserted, if it matched the preset resistance then it was allowed to crank and start. The system had problems as it aged and if the resistance was incorrectly measured the security would disable the car from starting for about 5 minutes. No subsequent attempts could be made during the 5 minutes or it would reset the timer. I had to deal with this, best thing besides a bypass that got me through was turning the key to the on position and waiting for at least 5 seconds before starting. Bypassing a GM system is fairly simple, google it.

...unless you have a BMW E46 which has a soldered-8-pin chip / IC transponder. Those style "diamond" keys do not have the separable 'legless' immobilizer, unfortunately.

Revisting my previous comment. After taping the the chip onto the antenna ring, I got some really wonky behavior out of my e36. Sometimes it would start, sometimes not. I sometimes couldn't lock the doors ( I guess the system saw the chip and assumed the keys were still in the ignition?). At any rate, I found a schematic using two antenna rings and a relay. The relay is wired to switch on the signal of the second antenna (with the chip taped to it) only when the ignition acc is switched on. The second antenna then "feeds" a signal into the system and allows the car to start but cuts the signal out of the loop when the acc is switched off, so the system thinks the chipped key has been removed from the ignition switch. So far, so good. No more wonky behavior. I built my system with junkyard savaged parts (second ring and a BMW Siemens relay) for about $8.00.

I would not have the transponder left in a car with a push button start. Some vehicles will not allow the vehicle to be locked if the transponder is in range of the ignition switch or push button switch.

Yes except that only one of the keys he showed actually has a transponder. On all other keys (even the one he opened) the transponder is integrated on the remote PCB so you would have to hot-glue the entire remote to the coil and thus not have the remote available to unlock the doors. Not an ideal situation...

I know this is an old video but the key you pulled out of the newer BMW fob is for the door and trunk. The whole fob goes into a slot on the dash and then you push a start button. If you put the transponder around the slot will any BMW fob start the car?

hey i have a 2000 nissan maxima and i had to change lock cylinder and tumbler setup. i installed it and it came with a key. i switched the transpondetr chip like u said. it was quite easy if i may say. so car dont start still. turns over but nothing..it ran real good before this. any ideas

So do the money issues I bought an aftermarket key with no chip in it. Opens up for my 2011 Sentra. The door does not start the car. I found that rather than cutting the chip out. Of my other key if he put it on the same key ring close to the ignition. It starts the car. Due to wear and tear. It’s nice having a back up key watch what they say. On aftermarket key websites. Some say they have a chip that you can program yourself. Luckily I’m able to use what I made.

Hi Nathan I've tried bypass module which you put key in a box have coil by time you'll loose sync between ews and dme so if you install push start button and try to crank one day it doesn't until I removed the key and try to crank by key and nothing tow the car to make a key or sync it with dme he resync it and it's fine Other thing that when you put the chip or stick it on antenna on e39 later model it'll not lock it'll force the car to unlock tried it before and it'll drain your battery even if you lock it manually it'll unlock may be after 10-20 time it'll lock but it'll drain your battery hope you do bypass for that transponder not transfer of it ;) Iam talking about e39 model 2002

Yup as Long as the programmed chip is with in the proximity of the RF sensor it will start the car. So that's why he says glue it near the ignition, where the keys transponder would be when you are trying to start normally. I needed a transponder to be able to be able to use my remote door unlock that I installed. Didn't feel comfortable leaving the whole key in the vehicle and no way to get in if the remote failed. I just went to a locksmith and 90% can cut and program transponder keys. I was in and out in 5 mins. Less I think about $80 but don't quote me on that price. And is CAD, USD would be a bit lower. Give or take 25%

I'm dealing with that issue right now. What i'm did was replace my ignition cylinder housing. Took my old key and open it up to take out the chip and mother board to put in my new key remote.

We repair PCMs and ECUs for some of the South African assembled vehicles. You cannot bypass the Immoblizer for the Ford Bantam Fiesta or Ikon vehicles. There have been people who have tried to jippo the EEPROM, and they eventually all come back to us.

So I've got 2 different Keys with 2 different transponders. 1 belongs to a jammed cylinder that I can no longer turn. The other belongs to a new respective cylinder that I've installed. I'm guessing that I'll have to rip out the transponder from both the new and old key in order to save myself from reprogramming?

Please please help me!!! What do I do if I lost the fob but have the key blade. 2001 Lexus gs300. It was the only key given to me when I bought the car. I can't afford 1000$ for a new ecu. I had a lock Smith come out and they Lazer cut me a new key but my car only cranks and doesn't start still. So I have that little chip you were talking about in the new key they made but I'm guess your video wouldn't work for me since the chip isn't programmed for the car to start. Which Is why I need a new ecu. Is there any other way around this? Anyone? Please!

The better way to do it is to buy the key then find out how to program the key while in the ignition. Lots on u-tube instruction available.

Tape the chipped key hidden inside the steering bezel near the transponder. Then go to local hardware store and have a bajillion steel keys copied.

I think I get it but it also means you bypass the whole idea of transponder keys which is to stop thieves hot wiring the car. Am I correct that if you do this the car is easier for non owners to start also ?

@@brackcycle9056 yep and then buy a heavy duty chain and padlock to wrap around the steering wheel and the under seat steel carriage....used this method for years . the chain and padlock is such a visual and physical deterrent your car never gets stolen...and you can leave your temperamental chipkey in your ignition all the time............

Are the chips themselves programmed to just that car? If you bought a used key(chip included)off another car , from eBay and replaced just the blade (cut it for your car) would that chip be operable in your car? Same make and model of course ... Would you need the ignition box along with the key for this ? Car is Porsche cayenne... Thanks ...Kevin

@@kevinduprey9326 yes, you need a key. My point is that all someone has to do to steal the car is get a copy of the key. The chip is already there. Otherwise, the chip key must be programmed. $5 vs $75.

If I just a blank off of eBay and have it cut to fit my car because I was trying to get another key but I already had one that was good and working why would I want to sacrifice the good working one just to make the blank I had cut work when the original idea was to have another key for my car even though I already have one that was good working?

if you only 1 key with chip inside , car and want another key or 2 then remove the chip from the key and attach it permanently to your ignition so an ordinary cheap key will work..seems pretty straight forward

Here is where I landed on this issue. I just bought a '95 325i 4 door that only came with one junk key. I removed the transponder from the key and taped it onto the antenna ring that surround the ignition cylinder. I discover that the transponder must be taped to the antenna ring at about the 10 - 11 o'clock position ( if your sitting in the passenger seat and looking at the ignition). I was hoping to tape the transponder to the inside of the steering column plastic cover but that puts the chip out of range of the antenna and causes a no start; likewise with any other position inside the ring other than 10-11 o'clock. I was unhappy with the visual of having the chip taped or glued to the ring and I worried that it might fall off and get lost. I landed on the idea of gently prying the antenna ring off the cylinder and firmly taping the chip down at the 10-11 position with electrical tape, followed up with two zip ties for when the electric tape fails. Instead of remounting the ring on the cylinder, I tucked in down the steering column and zip tied it to some wires. I got a second junkyard antenna ring and mounted it on the cylinder (unconnected) to restore the original look. Back in business and looks stock.

Well, BMW for example used the EWS, so you could get a new EWS... but getting the EWS or whatever theft system your car reprogrammed for the car by the dealer should resolve this issue, but it would be expensive. A you might be able to program the actual receiver and transponders and chips to work on your car with a programmer. Best bet is to google your car and check forums.

Ml 350 2005. I love my ml but need to find a way to bypass all security i only have 1 key that still works. Could you tell me what wires to bypass all these alarms Bs. The goal is to open and close with my key in the cylinder of door handle. Then put the key in Ignition turn it and go. I went to tje mercedes dealer today they can't make a new key with remote features working anymore. They said my car is too old. The only thing the can do is make a key that will open the car mechanically., to poen the door Then alarm will sound for 5 minutes tjen insert key in Ignition then start it. That is not cool. I want to bypass all for and alarm. Can it be done. I can read electric schematic s. If you can help that is cool. Lets say race mode no alarms. Baja 1000 mode!!. Can it be done?

you can use any transponder chop fron any car for your car tape it beside key hole on trght side of key hole-but how can a person have a nother key made without a key to copy its been lost only had one key any key wont work if you dont have a key to copy from same car i have had two keys one stoped working i never used the other one so i got the other key it worked what happen i list the good key caint make copy off key that dont work becouse the key on the end the cut groves wore down key used to much so i got to go to ford draler give them my V I N number they make me a key for my car no rigging for problems later it cost 150 dollars for ford key just put in car it starts vin number is on left side cornner between wind shild and dash you can see it fron out side look throw windshild take number to ford dealer closer to car if you lost key some times you turn key off and on tell locks on door locks and unlock then start key it works with remote program to turn key tell locks locks car and unlocks car then test remote see if horn blows that re sets remote to.

Thanks again Nathan I taped the key chip to the key insert ring on out side of key ring to get it taped tight and not come of key ring now I can use both keys the spare had no chip so I can now use both keys now TA TA I give you ten out of ten on that one

there are better cheaper ways to secure a car better . transponder chips just enrich the transponder chip industry...

If i take my trunk key (copied my ignition chip key onto blank metal key= no chip) and put it in the ignition to start my car, my car will fully start and idle for like 3 or 4 seconds and then die. I thought it wasnt supposed to start at all without a chip

just a note getting a transponder chip and gluing it to the ignition is not bypassing it the same way a e-z pass is not bypassing paying a toll, having a key and a way to use it without a chip is bypassing the system,

I'd avoid this on a push button start...... or any car that does not let you lock the doors if key is in ignition, car off and door open. it will not let you lock the car ever.

Lol yea push button start might get your car stolen, but most cars still need the key in the ignition to not lock the door, depending on the model
