In this how-to video, Justin shows you how to calibrate and level your Onewheel GT using nRF Connect, a mobile app that allows you to interact with devices that use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.
Follow along as he demonstrates the steps for both iOS and Android smart phones, so you can get the most out of your Onewheel GT riding experience!
Note: This process is not compatible with firmware version Cassiopeia - 6132 or above.

@@fixmypev yea I just did it today again to be sure bc the lights weren’t switching when I put those codes in but it came back and the lightbar changed for the Caca and it worked after that but just to be sure I redid it. Thanks again

I still have the old app not updated and its useless cant even connect to the board. I heard updating the app will still let you use it but just for a few seconds. But is nrf leveling still going to work with the pop up in the app?

@@nimaidj108i updated the app its the only way to connect to your board. Before you update app turn off cellular data in settings for the onewheel app and turn off wifi before you connect to your board and the app should work without the popup to update. I just releveled yesterday with 6109 fw and new onewheel app👍

So if I tilt the nose up a little and then calibrate the tilt, the board will now ride with nose slightly up and think it is level in all ride profiles? Am I understanding that tilt calibration correctly? Thanks in advance.

@fixmypev This is very helpful. However when attempting to do the factory mode setting, the ØW app showed the following message “your battery temperature is out of safety mode”. My firmware is current. Do I need to downgrade in order to get this to work?

I'm curious about hall effect sensor re-calibration. I'm at 3300 miles on my GT, and just did my first bearing and tire swap about 300 miles ago. Does the "caea" command from the XR video work here as well or is the process different on GT?

Unfortunately, there is currently no publicly known hall effect sensor calibration command for the GT.

Will this still be possible with the non updated (pop up saying to update) in the app ?

Yes. Generally, you'd just put your phone in airplane mode (keep Bluetooth enabled) to prevent the 'UPDATE' pop-up. No later than when the battery percentage displays on the app.

Hey guys, So I did this after unplugging my battery and it will go through but return back to an error 16 asking me to reboot and power cycle. When I try this the boar does not respond to the power button being pressed. Just continues to blink red with a error 16. Is there anything I can do?

Sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, Error 16 is unrelated to this. Error 16 means that the BMS and Controller are having trouble communicating with each other. If all of your connections are secure, you could have some damage to your wiring harness or even a failed component on your BMS or Controller PCB. Hope you’re able to get things sorted out.

Thanks for this. I have a GT with a broken controller, I just swapped it for a friend's controller that isn't updated for haptic buzz and was rewheeled. But apparently I need to pair the BMS to the new controller. Do these steps do that too?

To answer my own question: yes they do! Ran it on Android, worked perfectly. Note to anyone who comes this way: took a few tries before the OneWheel appeared in the app, not sure what did it, some timing thing maybe. But worked on the 3rd try. Thank you so much! Crazy that this is no longer possible though. Edited to add: this isn't possible if the controller was updated to haptic buzz though. Eff FM!

You're welcome! And glad you were able to figure it out (and that your board wasn't updated). Factory Mode was blocked as of the release of the new firmware versions, with the XR being the only exception to that.

Have you seen that ChiBattery is now offering a Samsung 50S battery for the GT now. They put on their site that you have to Rewheel, rescale state of charge when installing that. Could you do a video on how to complete that process? Thanks.

We just saw that! We’d been familiar with the other part of things due to the TLGT battery that has been being manufactured. Same process. We’ll look into doing a video, but it’s kind of a gray area for legal reasons so we’ll see.

@@bleedsblue05esk8 Might be worth checking in with Conrado directly. I know he’s just a solo guy/community rider building these batteries by hand (they’re very high quality). He’s got up to 15 he still needs to sell and then he’s done manufacturing them. ChiBatterySystems is already forcing him out of the market. 😞

Lightning rail user here, did you use an actual level? I've got a race in a few weeks, and looking for this to solve my problem. (Winman Enduro) heard some ups and downs are problematic, but not un do able with the lightning rails, looking to digital tilt) What did you use to suspend the board so it would be level? Just asking some dummy questions, but hoping to try your walk thru this weekend!

Hey! We have used an actual level before, but generally just set the board on something that levels the tail and nose equally (a plastic bin in the case of this video). You can probably get away with using a number of things to achieve the same result (two chairs, garbage can, etc). Ultimately, it’ll be about feel. So, calibrate it, give it a try, and adjust/re-calibrate as needed until it feels comfortable to you. Hope this helps! 🤙🏼⚡️🛠️

@fixmypev thanks for the quick reply! Another dumb question, since your leveling the board, does the after market rails matter still? ( I imagine the rails still change CoG for a smoother ride, reguardless of "level")

@@MQT.OnewheelYes. The rails still impact the center of gravity as well as the angles at which your feet are planted. The primary leveling takes place with the controller and clearance on some aftermarket rails is different from the nose to the tail due to the differing angles of each design. Basically, not all angled rails have the same degree bend at both the nose and the tail.

When I type cbcb and press write my board flashes yellow and the Onewheel app says there is a temperature problem w my battery.

My best guess as to why that might be happening is that you may have a firmware version that is too new to respond to the commands. To confirm, take a look in the video description to see if your firmware version matches that or higher. If it does, there is a workaround, but you’ll be best off emailing us for assistance. You can do so on our website; under the ‘Contact Us’ tab/link.

The GTS is not compatible with this process due to lockdowns implemented by Future Motion in their newer firmware.

Hey man, everytime I try this I get the flashing yellow lights indicating battery out of temp range, instead of the green flash, any idea why this is?

Hmm. We haven’t run into that before. Is that the exact error message you’re getting on the app? Are you calibrating while the board is level?

Yes and yes, I did just send my board into FM for repair a week ago,maybe they put some new component in? I've tried both iPhone and Android as well as the webbler app, all with the same result.

If you accidentally sent commands to the F301 service of the Onewheel, it is possible that no significant consequences occurred. Generally, when a peripheral device receives unrecognized commands, it tends to disregard them and continue with normal operations. Have you noticed any unusual or abnormal behavior from the Onewheel after sending those commands to the F301 service?

Unfortunately, this does not work on the GTS. This video purely represents the standard GT. As an FYI, FM blocked compatibility of this tool as of Cassiopeia - 6132 on the GT (which was released prior to the GTS).

Unfortunately, no. Future Motion blocked the compatibility of apps/tools like this as of the release of the newer updates. Per the description of this video: “Note: This process is not compatible with firmware version Cassiopeia - 6132 or above.”
