I have 1 that has been living in water only for 15 years. There are assorted other plants like spider, arrowhead, and numerous others. Love it and it's babies, also growing in water!
Hey Martin! Great video. Thanks for sharing all your tips. I recently got my first dracaena and was not very sure if I would be able to keep it thriving. I am going to follow your word and hopefully, I will be a successful dracaena owner. I also wanted to add the way you speak is very calm and understandable. Cheers!!!
I have one for 15 years and every 5 to 7 years in the winter it gives me beautiful flowers that smell amazing, like nothing I've ever smelled before. Also, the flowers open only at night which is when they smell the most and, unfortunately the flower don't last very long.
Great instructions Martin, thank you. I'm also glad to know this plant will help clean the air. I live in London, England and we don't have the best air here.
I am sorry but I don't think that you are right with the watering. I killed my first dracaena because i was watering it just when when the top of the soil dryied. Now I water it when all of the soil is dry all the way through and my draecena is 3 years old and it didn't loose any leaves from the moment i bought it. Now in winter I water it only once in a month. (sorry for my english, I am from Czech Republic)
Awesome video purchased 2 last summer and due to over watering both of them died from root rot within 2 months purchased another beautiful one from home depot around 2 months ago and my 2nd go round with this plant has given me outstanding results I primarily have it outside in bright indirect sunlight watering it every other week and with lightly used liquid organic fertilizer also my first 2 probably were not getting enough light now that I have learned from my first mistakes probably will purchase another one thanks for the valuable information
Very informative video. Thank you .My plant has brown tips no direct sun ,I'm fertilizing him in the winter I'm in the west coast winter are not extreme ...I've moved him thinking it was sunburn but it still has them I wait until its dry b4 watering..
@@dianakarenvelez9812 use diatomaceous earth, food grade! Sprinkle it on the bottom, it’ll kill everything. Or there’s also some granules called Triazicide! It’s safe for plants and it works amaziiiiingggg I love both. And you can get them both at Walmart! Good luck!
Thanks, Martin! nice video... I didn't know that Dracaena were good at cleaning the air, but it makes sense. I had heard that about Sanseveria, which are now reclassified as Dracaena, so maybe it's a family trait. I do not have any Dracaena at the moment, but I want to get one once we move... they are so classic and stately.
I have two pots with a tall and a short one in each. The pot with the biggest plant has several leaves with browning tips. I was over watering them and they were both invested with gnats. I used hydrogen peroxide and water to treat the soil and now I will start misting them regularly. Also was over fertilizing.
Thanks 😊from The Emirates! just now I bought my new drakeo! Lol! Livin' tiny in a flat for almost 10years and I decided to buy and to care as my home buddy/pet dracaena plant! Its about time! What a relief! Just moving on with my ex!!! God bless!
This a plant that my husband brought from work that was given to him. I live in Chicago. It’s was very very cold outside when he brought it home all the leaves now are turning yellow. but it does have some new leaves coming up. The yellowing of all the leaves means what?
Is there a way to dm you for help for my dracaena? I have been having a constant difficult time keeping it healthy and don't know what I'm doing wrong...
I have a rescue drozina from Lowe's and I'm not sure what to do with it I have brought it inside and I don't know whether to put it directly in the window or around the corner from the windmill six feet from the window I'm so confused but it's so pretty right now
Thanks for the video! My Dracaena roots are coming out of the pot... also what is the brown thing on top of the trunk? Is that to keep the size of the plant? Thank you!
I purchsed a cluster if these 2 years ago. Tall medium and short. I lost the mesdium last summmer becuse of sun damage but the tall abd short plant have been doing well. My only problem has been when new chutes start to grow they end up dying be ause o dont know what to do to nurture them. After about 6 inches of growth they just die off . A new chute has sprouted from the tall plant and i want it to grow nicely the main one.
I have a couple of Dracaenas. Unfortunately my apartment air circulation is not good. My plants have experienced white spots which appears to be fungus or mites; I don't know. Please let me know what I can do to rid this pesty problem away.
I love this plant, but I lost 2 of them last year for overwatering. Now my awesome neighbor gifted me 2 beauties she had and they are thriving, but it has some spider 🕷️ issue, that I’m trying to address with natural ingredients.
Having problems with my Corn Plant. Can you provide a way for me to send you a picture to see what’s going on? No matter what I do, it looks sickly. Thanks.
Mine also has yellow leaves with brown spots and I've tried all the techniques that have been suggested I water once a week. I even moved the plant into a different area. Seems to be getting worse.
My original D plant is about 6ft high. It had been doing so well until I introduced another D Plant w o treating it first. Now I have fungus gnats on my pride and joy. I’ve tried everything to get rid of them and they go away for a while but return. Have you had any luck with these plants outdoors?
Martin, my plant became brown after watering in the shower. I cut the brown leaves and kept the green parts. Was this a mistake? What can I do to help the plant in its current state? The plant trunk is a lot bigger, taller and thicker than your baby plant, Drake. it's more like a an adult plant. Help!
