This is The Pond Liner Lady in Vancouver, WA! You guys are great and I have a fun idea for you and those watching. I raise Canna's and instead of just planting them as most people do, you included, did you know that a Canna can sit in the water in your pond? They love being submersed in bio pools and I could send you a picture if you like but not sure how to do it here. They want WATER big time!

Came across your video because I now have my first Coleus plant. It was just growing carelessly in the yard, not sure why, but I saw it and didn't want to kill it with the weeds so I dug it up, brought it in the house, AND now I have to figure out how to care for it. Your video gave some good advice on how to do so. I now know which Coleus I have, the Wicked Witch, LOL! You also gave some good advice on getting rid of those pesty bugs...keep up the good work...thanks!

Wow!! Thank you!! Very informative!! Clearly your collection is thriving because you know what you are doing. For my Critter Spray I use: 1 TBSP each: Peppermint, & tea tree, Castile soap (not dish soap) I use Dr Woods Castile soap. 1 TBSP Neem oil, 3 TBSP’s hydrogen peroxide (3%), 1/2 cup isopropyl (70% is fine), (buck.25 store) 4 cups distilled or reverse osmoses water. WORK AWESOME! Spray water on the leaves to blast any critters off. Then spray over and under leaves and the soil with the DIY CRITTER SPRAY. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse. Then repeat (if it’s the first time, if you have an infestation, or for new plants.) Be careful and test plants first. Especially thin leaves, they are sensitive. Spray under planter too and in the water tray. Bugs like to hide there. ESPECIALLY THRIP!! UGGHHH!! I have holes on the bottom of all my planters so that I can flush them out. All of my 70+ plants are in semi-hydroponic substrate, mostly PONS. For me this is easier to flush the plant. For my maintenance I just spray around the perimeter of the plant avoiding near roots or foliage. I also spray into the water in the bottom tray at least once a week, to deter critters. This spray is safe for humans and pets. I seriously irradiated my thrip infestation and have kept it under control. They are very hard to get rid of, especially if you have a ridiculous # of plants like we do. This works for all critters, even outdoors. I use it for ants on my balcony. For fungus gnats if you spray around the perimeter, like my maintenance treatment, that should work too. Happy plant growing!! 🪴💚🥗🍀🍀🍀🍀 BTW!!! I absolutely love Trinity!! I have always wanted an English Bull terrier!! She is an English Bull terrier right? I’ve mostly seen the white ones.

Thank you so much for the awesome tip. We usually always have Dr Bronner's peppermint soap on hand. Knock on wood, we have managed to eradicate our issues. And yes, Trinity is an English Bull Terrier! They are the sweetest dogs. She's 5 now, and we've had her since she was 13 weeks 🐶 🐾

Hi, great channel. My coleus are several feet, outside. I love that look and they don't seem upset by spidermites. Can I ask how I overwinter these? Cuttings?
@GardeningGays
@GardeningGays Год назад
If they are in the ground, I would say propagate the cuttings. If they are already in the pots, depending on the growing zone that you are in but we start bringing ours in once temperatures start dropping below 50 degrees. Here what we do with adult plants throughout the winter if they get too big ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wKmMKg3O570.html

What about spraying with Liquid Seven before bringing the plant inside? Are you just trying to keep it natural? This spray kills hundreds of insects and pests. Any opinion on this? Thank you.

So as long as they get enough light and care they won't die back inside over winter? Mine are all indoors from cuttings and I have them under grow lights. But I was told they would start to die or loose leaves until spring then grow back again.?? Can I transplant during winter indoors to bigger pots?
@GardeningGays
@GardeningGays 7 месяцев назад
Only time they start to die back is after they bloom. Just keep pinching off any blooms you see and you'll have a beautiful plant year around. You can transplant any time into the bigger pot. They just don't grow as fast during the winter

I love your videos and great job on your beautiful Coleus 🙂 I just planted seeds this summer and they are growing perfectly. It will be time for me to bring them inside as the temperature will be dropping soon. I did some cuttings and put them in water and noticed black spots on the leaves 😞do you know what can cause this to happen? They have roots now which is great, but the leaves are not. I appreciate your feedback. Also, where did you get your pots? I love the tip for watering from the bottom, I will definitely be trying this method as I have the worst gnat's issue and it's driving me crazy!!! I did put the Vinger in cups as you mentioned and will see how that works, fingers crossed.
@GardeningGays
@GardeningGays 9 месяцев назад
Thank you so much for watching and your comment. As for the black spots: are your leaves touching the water? You want to make sure that with your cuttings your leaves don't touch the water. That can create this problem. As for the pots, we got them from our favorite unsung hero the Dollar Tree! They usually have some amazing finds during the spring. Glad the other tips are working in your favor 💚
@Ms.L.1030
@Ms.L.1030 9 месяцев назад
Thank you so much for the response, no, I made sure from previous propagating experiences, can it be the water? I will have to check my Dollar Tree for the pots 🙂Also, you guys are the best, love the videos and I am a subscriber 🙂@@GardeningGays

Water from the bottom, keep top of the soil dry. Gnats need moisture and nest in first inch of the soil. We talk about it in one of the videos
