In the third part of "Airbrushing with Aaron", FineScale Modeler editor Aaron Skinner shows you how to take apart your airbrush and clean out all the nooks and crannies where paint might be hiding. It's important to wipe all of it out so stray paint does not affect your next airbrush job.
Aaron also walks you through putting your airbrush back together after each cleaning.

Those small wire tooth cleaners work well for cleaning the tiny pipes.

I use the dispoable baby wipes to clean lots of things including my air brush. They work great cleaning out the colour cup and i usuaaly have little or no paint left in there before i disassemble. I also use them to wipe the tip of my needle during spraying if it gets dryed or to much build up. I find paper touwel or rag doesnt work as well as the baby wipes. Good for giving the whole brush a wipe over as well. I use a lot of lacquer paint so after cleaning with thiner i also use a tattoo squeeze bottle to flush every thing out on my air brush then let dry before re assembly.

Thanks Aaron! Good useful video 👍 The only part unknown for me was the needle lubricant: VERY interesting! 😮 ¿Where selling that "super lube" of the video? 🤔

What if you are shooting two or more colors in the span of an hour or so, do you need to break it down after each color? I notice that water based paints dry inside the airbrush much faster than enamels, so I have trouble making it through one color sometimes without having a clogging issue, any suggestions? Also, I've got a pair of single action Badgers from the 1970s and need spare parts but don't have a good source. They are siphon feed 200s, but have the bottle feed issuing straight down from the airbrush, not on an angle like the one in the video. I did much better work with those than my double action Pasche, but hundreds of disassembly, reassembly, droppings and wear have taken their toll, hence the need for parts. Any idea's? I've not had much luck on eBay or Amazon and don't have any good local Hobby Shops in my location. Thanks for the great video's. I essentially stopped modeling during college and now 40 years later am starting back up again and am apparently a little rusty as my results haven't been as good as they once were. Beat up equipment doesn't help either! :-)

You shouldn't need to break down your brush between paints or even after each use. Doing so is hard on the seals (o-rings and packing). For the water-based acrylics (e.g., Vallejo) I use 95 percent of the time, I flush thoroughly (and immediately) between paints with water, then IPA, and then my branded airbrush cleaner. No tear down necessary. For primers, however, I break down the brush and clean thoroughly after every use. You do not want primer curing inside your brush. I don't use enamels much these days, but if I did, I'd probably err on the side of tearing down after each use.
