I really appreciate how thorough you were in teaching this stitch! Too many people forget to be thorough because it's second nature to them. The thermal stitch is also great for the sole of slippers 🤓

Thank you so much for your video! I suffered a stroke less than a year ago and have been doing crochet as therapy. It's been a challenge but gets easier over time. I've been so frustrated at both written and other videos of thermal stitch that I was about to give up. Now I am confident that I can do the projects I had in mind to do. I have saved your video so I can refer to it if I need to. Thanks again!

I've used this stitch for blankets,wristers/fingerless gloves and headbands/earwarmers. I think I will make some slippers next. This would also make a warm pair of leg warmers and boot cuffs 👏👏👏. Thank you for the awesome video as usual 😊. Have fun everyone!

I love this stitch because of its doubled up nature, you can’t see through it like many other stitches, and it creates a durable cloth with a clean finish

What really helps is the first fact is the clarity of the camera, and then you explaining, and last by least going slow enough so my brain can wrap around and follow through. Thank you very much

Ok Ashlea, so tonight I'm giving this a try... I haven't done any crochet in 7 years and wanted to make a simple square shaped sample that could be used as a mug coaster as my first "project". I tried to follow some simple double crochet stuff on another channel and broke down crying. I came here and tried THIS, despite that in theory this should be considered more difficult(?)... and THIS I was able to DO and figure out and understand... I have no other explanation other than the fact that this is likely a combination of me having a brain that's wired backwards, and you being an excellent instructor!!! I think for my little sample square coasters learning, I'm just gonna stay HERE on this channel to do the learning!!! Thank you so much!

The first few rows I was rethinking if I should continue. It just wasn't looking like it would turn into anything. Then that 4th or 5th row was like magic and everything suddenly made sense! It's about 10 times easier at that point as well, not having to struggle as hard to find the right stitch to pair up with. Thank you so much for your video!

Trying to learn this stitch left handed. Info for other southpaw's out there: when it's a chain 1 turn and hang down, WE SOUTHPAW'S NEED to chain one and let it hang up for correct orientation. Otherwise you're going to have fits. I spent 10 minutes fighting the orientation before realizing that, since everything is opposite for us, that includes the way it hangs. They go down, we go up.

Hey I have a question about the foundation chain! Let’s say for example my row is supposed to be 6 stitches would I be doing 6 chains, an additional 1 chain THEN starting row 2 into stitch #6 (because you said to skip one?) Or would row 2 start into chain #5 (again skipping the first stitch)? I’m just a bit confused on that part as every tutorial is doing something different and they don’t really explain that part 😭
@HeartHookHome
@HeartHookHome 4 месяца назад
Hi, yes you'd ch-7, then start with the second chain from the hook to make a row that is 6 sts wide. That's technically row 1. When you go to make row 2 you'll chain one and turn, then work into the back loop of the current stitch and the open loop from the foundation chain. After that you're just using the back lop of the current row and the open loop from the row below. The photos in the written tutorial may help: hearthookhome.com/how-to-crochet-the-thermal-stitch/ Let me know!
