Cool video man I just saw the full one. Are you just shooting with af-c center focus? your shots are all in focus, i have trouble with that sometimes with nightclub videography. We have the same camera too. Cheers.

Thanks mate! Ultrawide footage was actually all manual focus because I use a cheap canon lens with an adapter - just put around infinity focus and it's all good - also I didn't use/rarely use wide open iris (F2.8) for these types of nightclub videos - more like around F5.6. Looking to upgrade ultrawide lens soon to native Sony for AF, so less hassle for my vlogs too! Which ultrawide are you using, maybe some recommendations? :) With my Tamron 28-75 I rarely went 2.8 as well, gotta particularly shoot those types of close bokeh shots - like mixer closeups or drinks ;) But with Tamron if you're more zoomed in and at around F5.6, the background still gets perfectly enough blurry. And yeah, for video always used 'Wide' focus area option - sometimes Spot Area M, Steadyshot option is Standard, AF transition speed standard 5 :)

@@rannovisualsWow, I didn't expect you to shoot at f5.6 in such a low light setting, what are the iso values you usually use, do you expose with the histogram with plus one overexposure step for less noise in the shades?

I need to get that sound effect of the crowd screaming, where did you get it from? By the way, very good color grading, do you use luts or do you do it from scratch?
@rannovisuals

Hey! I don't remember where I got my crowd scream sound fx, maybe Epidemic Sound back in the day, but now I use Artlist. For free I think you should check mixkit.co - and under sound effects search crowd, cheering crowd. And yep, over the years I have collected a collection of LUTs from where I find the best fit and then have to modify a little bit.

Cool stuff bro! Did you shoot in 4K 60 fps? Also how do you like the a7iv overall? And have you had any overheating issues?
@rannovisuals
@rannovisuals Год назад
Thanks man! 4K 50 fps in PAL mode. Sony A7IV is truly my first camera pick that made me not interested in any future camera releases, it is currently just perfect for my needs. Overheating issues - when you let it record for about 20 minutes in default settings it should power off because of temperature, but there is a setting to make it last longer - Set Auto Pwr OFF Temp. to High, with high temperatures it is also advised to use a tripod, but for myself the warmness has always been tolerable. But then again I haven't used it in hot temperatures like 30-40 Celsius for a long period.

Great video! Have you experienced this horizontal flickers that occur in low light? I shot with 60fps with 1/120 (60hz here in Canada) but still noticed a lot of flickers😢
@rannovisuals
@rannovisuals 8 месяцев назад
That sucks. Once back in the day it happened for me too. There are some methods and plugins to help fix this in post production, but eventually for my case I remember taking a creative route decision to glitch/vhs effect the bad "scanning" light scenes. And since then I have kept in mind and paid more attention to play around with the settings inside camera on the spot to get rid of the flicker or minimize it, but luckily since then the native 50 setting has worked for my cases.

nice man! Which settings did you use on the camera? Always shooting in manual mode?
@rannovisuals
@rannovisuals 10 месяцев назад
Thanks! I use SLog3 10bit 4K 50fps, manual yes. As it crops in 1.5x with 4K 50/60fps - Tokina 11-16mm which I used for ultrawide shots, I can still have it recording very wide after the crop and slow down those ultrawides at 4K - a nice trick :)

Thanks man, appreciate you! I'm shooting a similar type of venue this saturday so you're video is really helpful! One last question :D, did you need an additional light on your @@rannovisuals camera or are the lights of the venue enough (I think it's gonna be very similar like in your video). Cheers.
@rannovisuals
@rannovisuals 10 месяцев назад
@@franzkano8851 Awesome! That time I didn't use one, but I would most definitely recommend some constant small portable light just to be safe, because without it you have to filter much more of the clips where there is a good moment and the stage lights hit the subjects at the right time and when there is no light hitting on a good moment you are just sad :D - Thankfully Sony A7S series and my A7IV are very very good at lowlight so I had the possibility to recover shots with very minimal light, but you definitely want light for it to be perfect. I also have a right example to show you where I also had no light with me and I got like VERY minimal lighting from the stage lights and then I used A7iii and was really struggling - this example video on my channel: MAZE MUSIC FESTIVAL AFTERMOVIE 2021 - at about 3:15 mark. So if you can not get any info before how they set up the lights then definitely get some portable light.

would you use a gimbal for nightclub? or rather not? :)
@rannovisuals
@rannovisuals 6 месяцев назад
For dolly shots of the DJ and if there is enough room, some wide crowd shots from somewhere far behind or from a balcony with a nice long forward/to the side movement. Inside the crowd and bar I would go handheld :) According to the music genre you can feel it out as well. For music festivals outside, gimbal mostly all the way!
