Had this exact issue, but I didn't want to spend time taking it apart, so I managed to clean that exact part by unplugging the machine, pushing the water tray so its upright, and getting a toothbrush + alcohol wipe back there to scrub that probe.
The new ones are way easier no. It’s literally two screws now. Tbh they need to do something else for detection because they all have this issue after just a couple months
Oh, thats so awesome to hear! Theres also something else I ran into. The pumps jam! Last time I removed the whole pump but I think sticking a pipe cleaner down the hole probably would have freed it up enough to run some descaler solution or whatever people use. Vinegar probably works. Hot vinegar, gross. Lol
Thanks. This worked and now my icemaker is filling. The only thing I'll caution is that the metal piece that you remove has some very sharp edges. I realized it when I saw a nasty cut in my thumb that I hadn't even felt!
Very happy to hear a positive result. Yeah, that stamped metal looks and almost feels dull enough until you realize that it is indeed razor sharp. Sneaky sneaky metal
So is it just the little metal pin that needs cleaned? Or the little hole behind it? I tried to clean the pin the best I could but it was like, hard water deposit so idk how well I cleaned it. It's still saying add water.
Wow, so sorry I’m so late. Apparently some comments only show up in yt studio. There is that pin, and then inside the hole where the water comes out is a screw. You may be able to add a wire or 1Kohm resistor between the screw that holds that pin on and the screw that’s drilled into the side of that hole. Both will have a wire coming off it. If there is still an issue it may be a bad microcontroller or a broken wire.
