How to Get Perfect Gear in Splatoon 2 on Switch | Splatoon 2 Ability Chunk Guide 

For anyone (like me), who's late to the party, this guide is still really useful, but it requires a bit of an edit. Nowadays, Splatfest ttes work different than other gear; each new sub requires a constant 7500 xp to unlock. So, it's still your best bet, but nowadays, it's much better to grind your splatfest tee up to all 3 slots, and then scrub. It takes the same amount of XP, but is much cheaper. Plus, in the long run, playing with 1 or 2 extra secondaries on some rounds will be beneficial. Also, he kinds of glazes over it, but crusty sean's drinks are extremely beneficial. First off, they increase ALL gear xp by 50%, so for the next 20 battles, you get 50% more chunks. secondly, they make you more likely to get the corresponding sub. it's not much, but if you're grinding, it can save you a few chunks. Lastly, Whenever grizzco is open, play to at least 1200 reward points. This will give you all the cash you need, alongside being the best way to get drink tickets. Plus, you have a good chance to win a few extra chunks, especially after you collect some gear.

The chances of getting a particular ability is also determined by the gear's brand. Splash Mob gear is more likely to get Ink Saver for the main weapon.

One cool feature we now have is that once your Splatfest tee is full, all the abilities you gain are stored as ability chunks automatically.

or use a drink ticket to slightly increase the gear exp. Which can last for 20 battle before getting another.

First ability slot unlocks at 4000, second at 8000, third 12000, so you may as well fill the entire shirt before you grab your chunks. Takes basically just as long, but it's far more cost effective. Use the extra cash you earn to buy gear and such.

I notice most players put three of the same kind of secondary on one piece of gear, and as stated in the video, the cost to place a new chunk is proportionate to how many of the same type is on the gear. So what's stopping me from putting one ink resistance (for example) chunk on each piece of apparel in a loadout? It seems much more cost effective.

you can get a chunk for free first, get the special shirt from the Salmon run. Then fill up the slot of the shirt A as much as you want. Then play the salmon run until you get another salmon run special shirt (shirt B). If you chose to take shirt B, you should have a chunk that you filled up from shirt A. repeat this prosses the con is that it isn't really efficient and you can only do it when salmon run is open

So how exactly does having the same 3 ability chunks help? so if it was the one that reduces respawn time does that mean it takes less time to respawn with each one?

I decided to go for Mayo, because whenever I have ketchup I always mix it with mayo(It's called fry sauce. And I know it sounds weird, but just try it. You won't be disappointed). I almost never have just ketchup on my food. But you haven't lived until you mix ramen with mayo and cheese and put it on slices of bread. (just don't try to mix it while still in the juice. Drain that first. Maybe do something else with it.)

If there's anything mayo is good on, it's tuna. Added with some tomatoes and onion as well as jalepeno, and it becomes the best thing I've ever tasted!

I've had a weird thing happen.... whenever i lost internet connection, it took off my splatfest tee and put my basic tee on.... and i couldn't even find it in my inventory until i reconnected to the internet...

if you go in the news section of the switch, then search up splatoon 2 there will be a bunch of ability info click on the onethat has unfo about the chunks you want, at the bottom press play splatoon 2 and when you go back in you should have is 20 of the chunks in a box edit: i ithink you can repeat this with other chunk types

Scrubbing after the first ability isn't something I had considered, but seems like a good idea (since I don't play enough to earn that many per day, but am not really low on money). By the way, the third slot requires 12000 points.

I use monthly clothing in Grizzco and scrub them every time I get a 2nd one.

What's more beneficial? I want 3 perks, placed 3 times each. It's cheapest to put one of each on all three pieces of gear. But, do you get even greater benefit if you put 3 of the same thing on just 1 piece of gear?

You could also get ability chunks from salmon run.

All three of the extra abilities on my Splatfest tee are Ink Resistance and I didn't even use this method.

It's easier to just play as the gear you want to have the abilities, and if you don't like one of the abilities, scrub it and start again. This way, you only have to get 3 good abilities in a row instead of 10 of each ability you want.
