I had terrible brain fog. I talked to few doctors/healthcare professionals and I really wish you were my doctor because they did blood work and told me to get more sleep.. I started a keto diet and my brain fog is completely gone! It only took about 4or 5 days. All that time I was complaining about it and I eliminated it on accident by removing sugar from my diet. By the way, I've never felt better than I do now since going keto. Much more energy, no sleepiness, no cravings for anything, and lost a lot of weight. Only problem is now I need to buy new pants. Love all your videos
Hello. I stumbled upon this quite late, but I wanted to ask: were you feeling like you were stuck in a dreamlike state? Did you have difficulty recalling things and making memories?
Great video! I have so many patients that eat a "healthy" diet but when they sit down to calculate their sugar grams they're very surprised. Thanks for making this video we all need to look more closely at our diet and lifestyle when we are having brain fog.
So i didnt realize my fog untill adding berberine/ cinnamon and chromate for blood health gave me clear headedness Like being very awake!! Thank you dr B!!!
When I drink over 100 ounces of quality water daily, I'm astonished about how much better I feel. Increased energy and motivation. Reduced pain. Headaches are eliminated. Improved mood. Improved brain function.
Hope someone is still reading this comments: male 40, 6', 175 lbs working out everyday, doing intermittent fasting (16/8). I have been experiencing brain fog on and off for the past year or so, especially after I wake up in the morning. I am not too sure what too blame for this: too much sleeping (9pm to 6am), working out in the evening, IF (no meal from 7pm to noon), dehydration, or lack of nutriments. Been trying to cut on sugar for about a year and eat lots of salads, avocados, nuts, fish, meat, fruits. Overall, I wold say my diet is a cross over between keto and mediterranean. However, I noticed that when I carb up a little more than usual (like eating a nice plate of pasta) before going to bed, I wake up more fresh. Would it be possible that I am riding on a fine line where my body still rely on carbs, yet I am not fueling it with enough carbs to get my energy?
I've had brain fog for years but I need to go back to this because it helped a little. I know it's probably something underlying as well but can't find out I plan to get rid of my brain fog for good had it for almost half my life bad
I feel the same way, too... btw do you often get bloated from certain foods, and then your brain fog accompanies that, too? or is it just a random brain fog that happens regardless?
*Avoid* high glycemic carbohydrates (processed sugars and white wheat products), sugary foods and drinks in general *Do* complex carbohydrates (whole grains), legumes, vegetables, leafy greens, walking / cycling / aerobic exercise If you go completely plant-based, take Vitamin B12 and maybe Omega 3 supplements
Does brain fog get increasingly worse week by week, and do the symptoms also get much worse in the evenings, and involve erratically wandering around at night scattered and nervous for no apparent reason, severe psychotic episodes that can last for hours, and night terrors that keep you unable to sleep and afraid to go to your bedroom? Is it a bit better in the morning?
In my case, we believe I am (coincidentally) in early Alzheimer's as well as having CFS. Brain fog I can handle...I was sundowning. Only ketosis works on that, and works very well indeed! The keto diet can reverse dementia - thank heaven. When I "carbed up", the symptoms returned. Never again, LOL!
Same with me and I’m 16. It could probably be the combination of brain fog and anxiety and/or depression. Brain fog, depression, and anxiety can impact each other making all worse over time.
Heather, would you consider trying an emf blocking hat? I have started wearing one at night to block the emfs. I am feeling calmer and sleeping better.
Editing: "Huge salads" & "Healthy Fats" need to be listed Under the word 'Avoid' Otherwise the meaning is: Avoid huge salads & healthy fats. I found that to get rid of my hypoglycaemic brain fog last year, I had to eliminate grains altogether for a few months, while increasing healthy fats, including bone broth. I could have some sweet potato with lots of Cooked green vegetables.
The way you've written out the words on your board makes it look like you're advising to avoid huge salads and healthy fats! I couldn't believe huge salads gave you brain fog!!!??😯 😂 thank goodness they don't!!
The Positive Mind: What you're observing could be true to those in specific circumstances but in general above all with any 'good' advice... one should be always doing is moderation and balance in eating food. Each being unique, one size fits all is less than the right approach. Have a great positive and harmonious day with Nature, the Universe, and withing yourself.
Keto is not a fix all for everyone, I would highly suggest doing your research and maybe even talking to a practitioner before starting keto. Yes, it has helped some people, but it has also hurt some people. Everyone's body is so different and we are each dealing with different things. Just know what you're getting yourself into, because it seems simple and innocent trying something new, but it isnt that cut and dry. Speaking as someone from experience who tried it and it didn't go well. You live and you learn.
I started getting brain fog right after starting Keto.. I increased my electrolytes to try helping with it, but it never went away. After about a month of Keto and constant brain fog, I decided to take a step back and return to my regular diet. However, after doing that for a bit, the brain fog still hasn't gone away. Trying to figure out how to get rid of that. Anyone else experience this?
@@Shriddar I'm sorry to hear that! I unfortunately still have brain fog. I'm currently working with a natural health doctor to detox. She found that I am really low in vitamin D and I have a potential parasite we will work to get rid of. Maybe it's something like this with you, and keto just aggravated it.
Dr. Berg - Next, can you do a video on foggy headlights? Over the years a scratchy translucent film has developed on the plastic lens. Not sure which cleaning solution is recommended to clear up the fogginess. Thank you.
Hes a doctor I think your question in about an automobile.I have heard take toothpaste and rub it all over the plastic lens and rub it till it clears they say it works.I have never tried it!!
Same here .. I had brain brain fog after drinking alcohol in the past.. after getting covid I got brain fog as well.. maybe because I could not sleep at night stood up all night.. and ate too much sugar.. smh
How about a cup of 1% organic milk, is it the reason for sugar shoot up from normal to 232 max and then returning? Is sugar shooting up from normal the reason for brain fog?
I have brain fog on keto. My weight has stayed the same after losing 13 lbs. Having issues going to sleep. Get hungry at night. Eat 2x a day. What am I doing wrong?
TAKE IT ALL AWAY DOC waaaaa😭😭 both no -more honey , and my favorites yogurts 😭😭😭😭 okay it's what's got to be done thank you @Dr. Eric Berg DC I'm currently connecting to thc cbd
Hi dr Berg, thank you for your tips! However my diet is very healthy(no sugar )but I still experience the brain fog & fatigue, especially right after my meal (I eat small portions) Do you have any other ideas besides that you explained in this video , what might be a problem with? Thank You in advance!
I have chronic brain fog, fatigue and poor short term memory. MRI reveals no medical conditions and doctor says i need to focus more🤔 dazed and confused.
Start paying attention to daily habits. Make sure you keep sugar low stay well hydrated go walks outside and drastically reduce phone use. If you have time lift weights and get plenty of micronutrients into your system (most of which can come from fruit and veg). Try to keep stress levels low and socialize with friends. Sometimes what's causing it is staring us right in the face without us even noticing. Also try a phone/TV detox an hour before bed. Instead either read or go for a walk outside without the phone. Hope this helps and I wish you the best ! :)
Plain yoghurt has barely any or no sugar at all. They list the nutritional info of the ingredients on the lable. So that means the milk. But the actual stuff you eat is fermented milk. The fermentation makes it so that the sugars are consumed by bacteria and turned into fat and some protein.
Doc are you saying that honey is bad for the body? First time for me to hear that. I thought honey is a super food loaded with amino acids, multivitamins and minerals
mefreee2 i have heard the same, but it is really not needed in the diet, the sugar content makes it bad to eat regularly, you can get all of your vitamins and minerals you need from proper meats and green veggies
alexandros valassidis vila i got even more brain fog from keto, i dont belive its optimal really, carbs have some benefits just as keto has, but i want to enjoy my life too, enjoy meals, also your mood isbetter on carbs, i got depressed on it and was suddently bad in video games, feelt like i was on my way to alzemiers
@@TheJimmyswe150 Your brain literally runs mainly on ketones, and the absurd minimal amounts your body actual needs in glucose are easily created by your own body, there is no way you did keto for over a week and felt like this. It's like a heroin addict saying he felt better on it.
Low carbs will cause brain fog...but to reverse insulin resistance...I did next to zero carbs...for 8 months...then went organic...which gets rid of the lead etc. Afterwards...I reintroduced carbs under 150 a day but just with 2 meals a day. Still completely eliminating sugar. Mental sharpness is increasing!!
Eat plain yogurt AND blackberries as a Remedy for acute diarrhea. Not as part of your usual WOE. If that distinction in uses is confusing to you, you may have brain fog ! 😀
Dr. Berg - what are your thoughts on daily vitamin supplements? I had one family doctor tell me they are a complete waste - another tell me to make sure I take them every day - that taking them will help with things like this (brain fog, sluggish feeling, etc). What's your take on vitamin supplements?
I’ve struggled for so long with brain fog. Tried keto for a few days but psyched myself out of it. (Really bad stomach cramping/palpitations) As soon as I started eating carbs again I felt so spaced out and anxious. I’m assuming that means I need to try sticking it out on keto. Maybe low electrolytes was the reason for cramping and palpitations? Or too much fiber not enough water? Kind of confused atm
@@chrisrichard3723 yes I did. Started taking magnesium, omega 3 and pinpointed which foods make me feel sick. I can eat carbs but it has to be the least processed and in smaller amounts. (Like Protein pasta, oats, organic seeded breads, potatoes) the goal is not to have such a sharp glucose spike and to avoid added sugar.
I believe with the astronomical amount of people complaining of brain fog has to do with the government spraying the chemtrails in our sky's poisioning the population with aluminium particles! The evil aganda is to be walking zombies to control the population! Reality!
hey dr eric berg! i have Hashimoto what can i best eat? is wild rice oke because it's not really a grain i have heard? And as you have a auto immune disease is it for whole your life of can you heal it?Thanks alot!
If not Oats. What healthy thing can I eat for Breakfast? Im running out of options. I don't want to wake up in the morning and cook, Im looking for something simple that I can just poor in my milk and Eat. Looking for recommendations. Thank You
Great video as always! Have you had any experience with lithium orotate? I'm hearing some positive things and I'm just wondering if you'd consider doing a video on it and if it helps the brain in small doses. Thanks for all of your great knowledge!
For me I just get rid it if I take b vitamins, why is that ? Sometimes I noticed it gets triggered after eating onions but of course after sugar, and I get hyper and sweat kind of like a lymphatic drainage exercise.
i feel drunk for no reason and always have dull sharp pain kinda weird blockage type feeling behind my eyes , can't think or concentrate ,is it brain fog or what ?
If I don't eat some type of carbs during breakfast (e.g., oatmeal specifically) with my main protein/ fatty dish, I would feel tired afterward, as if I haven't eaten at all. To me, I feel like I need this tiny bit of carbs oatmeal during my meal so that my brain cells have easy fuel from oats carbs until the rest of my protein meal is converted to glucose. I tried to quit eating oatmeal, but then I still didn't feel satiated right after eating my protein/ fatty meal.
By the way, my BMI is in the normal healthy range, and I eat very, very, very clean. I don't follow the ketogenic diet because of the high caloric content. I don't eat anything processed and never eat anything with added sugar. The only sugar that I use is stevia~ of the low glycemic index.
So should I try to quit eating oatmeal? Is this the only reason giving me brain fog? I would always feel that my brain was super foggy and my stomach super bloated... I sometimes think that the gas in my abdomen is slowly going up to my brain, making me hazy lol; for real, I'm not even joking lol..... I don't know why I would always get bloated with a severe brain fog
About 1 hour after meals starts my brainfog and after 3-4 hours it disappears. I have no celiac, but maybe NCGS (not celiac gluten sensitivity). My big problem is, I get this Brainfog from rice, corn and a lot carbs too but not from boiled potatoes. All medical surveys are done (blood sugar, gastroscopy, hormones etc). Does somebody have similar experience?
how can we cut sugar to zeroas each meal is done with cereals or rice these are sugar rich although being starchy and fibrous but yet sugary how to avoid them completetly any alternate???dr berg
