This is the most honest and told people that surgery is required when the eye bags do not disappear for a long time. I have tried expensive cream and lighting products. The money that I spent on those products can fund a fee to do surgery. Also I tried the face yoga but it only create more wrinkles on my eye and other parts of my face. I made a good decision to do an eye bag surgery this year and it went well. I don't need any expensive eye cream to make me feel better.
Did you try changing your diet and checking your health? Vitamin deficiencies that are associated with dark circles include vitamins E, D, K vitamin, A, and B12. In addition to that, iron deficiency is also a root cause of dark circles. --The three biggest culprits for fluid retention that shows up on the face are sodium, excess carbs, and alcohol." If those are part of your regular diet, you may want to pay attention to how you consume them. -Anemia or an iron deficiency can result in dark eye circles as not enough oxygen reaches the body's tissues. Liver problems can also be a cause.
Shoot no wonder why i have bags i eat lots of bread. Salt and alcohol in my diet. Cuz its not genetics my mom doesn't have them nor any of my family members.
As an "older" woman, I LOVE this video!! I can attest to the vanity of youth & how much genetics plays a part. I don't normally have "skin issues"! Just have a few dark patches...... but bags under my eyes that you could pack for an overseas voyage!! Calling my dermatologist tomorrow!!! THANK YOU!!!
Dark circles are def my problem. I've tried a gazillion products and NOTHING has made a difference. Instead, I focus on moisturizing and finding a concealer that works. I love your videos, intellect, beauty, and your gorgeous skin! Tx for sharing these priceless tips.
Nothing does work I am a young 69 but noticed 2 dark circles last fewcweeks I thought what the he'll where they come from tried loads concealers to hide them just bought a peach corrector to use first then concealer not tried it yet
I am using the roller ball first depuffing and cooling I keep in the fridge best ones are with caffeine and peptides in recommended then I use a gel then concealer matches skin tone it saying g it can be an Age thing I only noticed dark circles last 12mnths I 70.in few weeks I have nevervever had them before
Yes but they a lot younger than us on the videos so can't compare under eyes with an older person I never ever had any issues of creypiness dark circles or lines only recently I 70 in 2 wks always nice skin because its in your genes from parents mine both had nice skin
For us gals with not alot of $, mix egg whites only and spread thin layer above eye on hood and thin layer on eyebags. Rinse in 5 minutes. Or little baking soda and water, put thin layer on eyebag, away from eye socket. Let dry 5 minutes and rinse with cool water. Then moisturize. Worked for me, my Mom and Grandma.
What does baking soda do for under the eyes? It seems better to skip right to the baking soda, since it's so much cheaper and easier than using egg whites for eyes.
I love that there's actually a professional out there that's willing to share some thoughts and knowledge to us (ignorant me specifically) and actually not spouting some nonsense to like sell their stuff and all thank you so much doc. I think I might be able to find something close to the products that you've said that probably has similar ingredients in it since I live in the southeast asia the products here are different and the products that came from the western doesn’t really work since it's more humid and hot here but anyways! Thank you so so much for making this type of content for us, I love you and please keep on making it I'll always be your subscriber ❤
The skin tightening procedure, the PRP procedure, as a GenX with a little extra cash to work with for under eye bags, that's what I need to hear about. Will you do a video about those procedures since you actually use them yourself? Please.🙏🏽💯❤️
Doctor you are awesome and for being informative how to care for our skins and also all the best products to use. You have a such a beautiful skin for almost almost 40
The ordinary has a caffeine + Egcg (green tea extract) serum as well for like 10 bucks and Beauty of Joseon has a Retinaldehyde eye cream for like 12/15 bucks. Dr. Idriss - I bought and use your depuffer serum and really like it! However, can you do a little more to incorporate cost effective items into your recommendations instead of 100 dollar eye creams from Kate Somerville? I know you mentioned some hacks at the end, so props to you there!
See my post above. If it's blood vessels, peter thomas roth has a sale on his Vitamin K which can work wonders - on his website it's buy one get one free. There is also his retinol microencapsulated eye cream at 1.5% which may or may not mean .15%. I use Cerave' resurfacing retinol because it also has niacinamide and I think licorice root. Per google, the Cerave' resurfacing retinol cream (you can use this for the face and around the eyes), has 0.3% retinol.
Thank you so much for this video! It’s the first one that I watch from your channel while searching “puffy eyes and fine lines”. I was surprised that a lot of The dermatologists I follow don’t tackle this subject. But you explained it perfectly (broken down by each problem and what to do about it) and I really appreciate it! Looking forward to watching more of your videos! 😊
I like how honest and straightforward you are. I think I'll need surgery for my puffiness. My eye specialist recommended that he remove the fatty tissue from under the eyelid. What do you think is the best surgery options?
Good morning, Dr. Idriss! First, thanks for adding (a few weeks ago) the link for your pretty pink ‘sun’ glasses. I’m nuts about the look they give me! Also, that Sol De Janeiro Beija Flor body cream is so dreamy but treat yourself to the Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait, too. The combo is out of this world! Always enjoy your content but it’s your delivery that makes you so special!✌️🫶
I appreciate your video and all your recommendations. I personally love neutrogena retinol eye serum & face serum with retinol and spf 30. I also use the hydro boost fragrance free gel lotion for my eyes and top with Avene spf 50 tinted mineral sunscreen in the compact. This sunscreen is a little tan colored for me and a little peachy however that helps correct my dark circles. I think it helps fade sun pigmentation & I have not experienced any issues with irritation.
Thanks for this great video. Sometime would you make a video on removing little brown spots on the skin? Practically no one seems aware that they are easily removed with cheap anti-fungus creams that you can buy on Amazon or at a pharmacy. My family and I have used them for years. There seems to be a million species, and some are resistant to particular creams (but not other creams with different chemicals). Some disappear in a week, others longer.
I learned to make peace with my dark circles. From my maternal line, I inherited pretty substantial ones. On the other end, we don’t get eye wrinkles until much later in life, so it’s give and take.
Lucky you 😂 I got really dark circles, so much that people think I am sick, and they the thinnest, driest skin. I've been moisturizing since 20 but I can already take my around eye skin with my fingers and shape it 😂 and it will keep the shape for a tiny moment. It's getting worse. Luckily my wonderful mum has it and she's such a roll model 😊
Thanks so much! I need to work on my puffy eyes and I do use a spoon from time to time that lives in the freezer. I noticed how you placed the spoon on the under eye area and you didn’t drag it around. I’m going to pat the spoon under my eyes from now on.
Sounded good to me. I didnt realize that "black" tea was "actually" black. I got black eyes from it, so I changed to green tea.....funny lol! It works good though.
I like the mac fast response eye cream, use it everyday as part of my morning skincare, It’s thin and comes in a small squeeze tube. It has caffeine in it I believe.
And what does castor oil do and how do you apply? I hear castor oil is very viscous and even a little staining. if we have oily skin already, it might be too oily and heavy as well.
Can you please, please bring back the visors!!! I was not at home to purchase when I finally did they were all gone 😭 I have followed all the information you have ever given. I’ve made some improvements to my face and I don’t want to be set back. My sister booked a beach vacation at the end of July and don’t want to go without it. Please bring it back 🙏🏼
Thank you dr Idris for the valuable information and hacks! But, shouldn't we also mention that a possible cause of puffiness is kidney malfunction/disease?
I used to obsess over my hereditary deep tear troughs and herniated fat pads as a teenager. Then I made peace with them for some time, while still wearing concealer every day of course. Now that my 5 year old has them ☹️, and my MIL keeps telling him his eyes look tired (the most dreaded words!), I am obsessing again and looking into creams I cannot afford. Thank you for the reminder that no cream is going to fix them. I will, however, look into caffeinated creams for those days when my bags are retaining extra water.
I bet you your child is beautiful and I don't think there's anything wrong with having tear troughs and herniated fat pads. My dad has always had "raccoon eyes" and it has never taken away from his appearance. I know all of this seems preachy and you have probably heard this and know this but I just wanted to say I'm sorry society has made you feel bad for something that you shouldn't feel bad for. You and your son are beautiful
@@paige3180thank you for the kind words ❤️. I do want to get surgery one day...The plan is my 40th bday. I do not want to pass my insecurities onto him though because he has the most beautiful blue eyes, and is the most precious handsome little boy. I think men can be a little more rugged and still look great, but society definitely puts pressure on women to be flawless.
Great timing! I JUST noticed that I have dark diagonal dark sunken lines under my eyes. It almost seems like a lack of volume and I was considering fillers. I'll try some of your suggestions first! (I'm 52!!)
Hi Dr. Shereene, thanks for the video - very useful topic! I have had dark/blue circles under my eyes since my asthma got hectic in childhood. Would that contribute to "hollowness" under my eyes? (Been annoyingly baggy the past 8-10 years.) I'm 34 now. I also have generally dry skin, sometimes it flakes around my eyes, especially on the upper lids. I'm guessing the correct eye cream should solve that. I am not a good anti-aging skincare maintainance person, btw. Basically clueless 🙈
sometimes dark circles can be from venous pooling due to lack from oral myofunctional issue/ over 30 percent of people studies show have myo issues/ lack of nasal breathing and airway issues. / i am a OMT.
I have had dark circles my ENTIRE life. (My son has them too. Sorry Honey..) Now they are also puffy. I caught a look of myself in a store CC camera at the checkout the other day. OMG! I thought I was doing a good job of concealing them but not so much! I used to use an undereye tightener. I needed to use a concealer. I found that using a mineral/powder type concealer worked. I did need to get the tightener on just right (there is a learning curve there) so I didn't have too much powder settling in areas where I didn't get tightener on smoothly. I liked the effect, but it was an expensive product. (The product was a Peter Thomas Roth product).
Peter Thomas Roth's under eye serum tightens, but it's very difficult to apply it without getting filmy and it cracks not long after applying it. Also, you can't put any concealer over or under it because it pills.
Hey Shereene! Im 24 years old and lebanese and I have really bad dark circlkes (thanks to genetics) - i always look tired no matter what i do and I have been considering getting a treatment done but im scared of ruining my face - on top of that my right undereye circle is more prominent since i was involved in an accident where the area got severly burned but thank god healed. Please help me figure out how to stop looking tired at 24😢
You are my new best (virtual)friend 🙂. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us. I was about to waste a lot of money on the wrong products (again) .. but now, I’m going to dig out the tea bag’s and Vaseline ❤. Loving the clear and sensible advice. X
Thank you for sharing your expertise with us! You are totally priceless! Is long term use of retinol going to dry out the eye area? Do we have to take breaks from it?
Some years ago, I bought so many pounds of green zucchini and stir fry it every day. After a week, my under eyes bag started to show up and make me look like I've crying for 3 days. The eye bag would not go away after that. My conclusion was zucchini has so much sugar that cause skin under my eyes to loose elasticity allowing the fat pad u der the skin to show.
Thank you for the video :) would be nice if you could say a bit more about festoons/malar bags. My malar bags are constantly red and puffy, and indeed nothing helps with it enough (I use caffeine for puffiness and azelaic acid for redness). Sad to hear that the only thing that might help is surgery or fillers when I'm only 27...
My grandma’s skin in her 90s looked 25…I asked her what her secret was, she said she used a J & J baby lotion…this was in the 80’s when there were not the multiplicities of products today
I used to have dark circles then started taking kidney glandular and herbs as well as adrenal. This almost took it all away. Maybe it’s just something to look into. Maybe food allergies can do some of that too.
Hi Shereene, can you give advice to those of us who have visible sebaceous glands under our eyes? I’ve always had very dark tear troughs and the little whitish bumps from these make me look textured and feel self conscious
I think that thickening the skin there will help, I can see it on my own skin (I have the same problem), I'd also love to have her to comment though 🙏🏻
Hi Dr. Shereene, thanks for the video. Please could you do a video for eye bags in older women. I have eye bags which are not dark circles, puffiness or crepey skin. I am in my mid fifties. I am told its due to due to loss of collagen. i heard the alternative is surgery. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Iv have this and it started with hrt one off my patch made it worse and dry eye aswell, well i changed my patch and stated using castor oil eye drops and ice roller and it much better dont put creams under your eyes for one it dont work use castor oil for ur last step to ur skin care. Oh and i forgot mandelic acid 10% from the ordinary this was a game changer for me 😍♥️
A 7 day fast removed my bags completely. I was shocked, I have no idea why. Maybe my bags were from inflammation. I would recommend a fast before paying a fortune for surgery.
Dr.Drey- Why would you put moisturizing eye cream under eyes? It causes more expansion of skin & puffyness. I bought a bottle of caster oil, put a little bit on at night before bed. It took about a month for me to really slow down the puffiness under my eyes!
Did check your cosmetic line but for now it's only shipped to USA 😢😢 I did unsubscribe from the mailing list, feels frustrating until you can ship abroad ;)
My puffiness is due to mistakenly applying an exfoliating cream on my face and didn’t know I shouldn’t have put it around my eyes. I’m two days, my under eye bags, which had never been too much of a problem, expanded wider and became baggier. I hope it will get better with some gentle treatment.
I love your videos and shorts. I'm definitely learning a lot I'm 45 and I only knew a little bit about skin care I have super sry skin amd now aging akin lol. I recently lost over 100 pounds I was wondering what products would be best used on stomach and on neck and under chin. Thank u so much 💓 💗 💯🤩 thanks for your answer in advance. Keep up the great work
My undereye wrinkles don't like simple products 🤣 Theramid (Spanish brand) cream with retinol, vitamin c and peptides made huge improvement, while others did almost nothing. Did you by any chance tried retinal eye serum from Beauty of Joseon?
You are amazing. I’ve been binge watching your videos and I thank you for debunking some products in here. One product I wouldn’t mind hearing your thoughts on is the use of melatonin? I thought it was crazy at first but then I starting hearing it more. Would love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you so much Shereene! Always my go to for skincare info. Do you have any videos on home radiofrequency devices? I'm especially concerned about my under eye wrinkles and wanting to prevent sagging in lower jaw
Any other hard core tretinioin friends who also put 0.05% tret under eyes like I did 😅 it went well actually, now I don't buffer with Vaseline anymore, but with CeraVe moisturizer. Fingers crossed 🤞
I don't have a sensitivity to Tretinion. I have been using 0.5 percent under my eyes and a heavy sealant on top like petroleum jelly. For two years... I still have wrinkles, dark circles, and a slight sunken look around my eyes. Maybe I would look worse if I hadn't been doing this.
I watched a great video the other day on a product that you use on freshly washed skin before a concealer. It's opaque color corrector. It seems to help alot with dark circles. Problem with a make up regimen for me is the time it takes and layers of makeup to make dark circles go away. Half my problem is sun damage. Next is lack of sleep and some from poor diet. I don't have puffiness, just dark circles. I was a sun worshiper for years, I used to vacation alot to the Caribbean, get a beautiful tan..tan in tanning beds off season and went to the beach during the summertime. I had a perpetual tan all year around. Thought nothing at the time of the dangers of it I was young, felt great, never wore makeup. Just heavily moisturized. I only wore makeup from about 16 yrs old until my early 20s. Then I started my "tan" look. Now that I'm 62, I haven't traveled as much because I own a business. I don't wear makeup because I don't have time in the morning prior to going to work. But the dark circles are really getting bad because I don't use anything on my face. Just a daily moisturizer. The tutorial I saw was amazing but again, the step by step of products seem to work. The model showed her face and did a step by step application. Mostly too much for me, but her eye dark circles looked fabulous when she was done. For certain color skin and color of under eye bags, there's different types or color corrector..You use that, then a concealer, then foundation. My problem is choosing the right shade of concealer and shade of foundation. Lesson learned from me to other young women out there, don't tan without sunscreen, protect your face at all costs because when you get older, your face will show aging AND the sun damage from when you were younger.
Dr Idriss what would you recommend for volume loss under the eyes but closer to the outer corners, not in the tear trough. I've heard that due to its vascularity you can't inject filler there. You've mentioned PRP - would you mind making a video on it and similar treatments as there's hardly any data to support its efficacy so would be great to hear if it worked for you
Thanks for all the tips and recommendations! Have you tried the beauty of Joseon revive eye serum with ginseng + retinal? I’ve been using it for a month and thought it’s quite good!
What about allergic shiners? My adult son has had undereye circles since he was about 4 months old… the pediatrician brought them to my attention and this was way before I was aware he would develop pretty significant seasonal allergies in his teens.
If you're tired of trying to hide dark circles, give Dermalmd Dark Circle Serum a try. It's been my secret weapon for achieving a brighter, more youthful appearance.
If you use chemical peels under your eyes, this will make your undereyes thinner as time goes on. This will increase your blood vessels showing = dark circles. Any hydroxides or acids (that are actual acids) are not placed under or around my eyes. I use niacinamide and vitamin C 10% - when I put them one, it is placed all over my face including my eye area but keep your eyes closed.
