Today I install a 240v electric wall heater from Cadet. Installation is actually pretty easy. This little thing provides safe, comfortable and expensive heat. Lets hope all the upcoming EVs force electricity costs to go down.
Thanks for the video. Great Job. Shortly after viewing I sat out and installed the double 240v unit by the same company. I’m handy but a little older and much slower. I was able to complete the install in about 4 hours. Had to take a few breaks along the way. Your video was instrumental in my success. Thanks again!!!
@@newenglandlife978 We absolutely love it. As you know it came with the thermostat already installed. We have yet to turn it all the way up. Just not needed. We have an 1890’s farm house with an oil burner in the basement. Having this installed keeps that unit from turning on often. I installed the new heater in the living room. This is the same room where our thermostat is located. This is also where we spend most of our time while up and about. Very good reliable unit. Was extremely effective when the temperatures dropped down in the teens and single digits at night. Great supplemental heating system. Thanks again!!!!
To be honest brother I don’t remember exactly what wire I used. I specifically used whatever the instructions said. It might have been the yellow stuff 12/2? I was sure to use exactly what they said. The instructions should hopefully say.
Cool video! Mice are going to eat your wiring if you leave it exposed like that fyi. Huge fire hazard if they do. Keep up the content, good efforts :-) How do you like the heater? Loud? I'm thinking of grabbing a few of these just as back-up cabin heat.
Thanks for the tip. Still haven’t thought of the best solution for underneath. Maybe just insulate and cover. The house was a hack job before. The heater isn’t too loud. Nice hot air right away. Just a little scared about the electric bill
@@mikewalko536 I think it stays off of you turn the dial down all the way but I’m not 100% sure. I’ll have to confirm that next time I’m at the cabin. I’m actually going to install a wifi thermostat for it soon
Thanks for making the install video. It’s about a 50 step procedure, without moving the video camera around. Hope you didn’t have to dodge any raccoon crap under your cabin. Now that you had it for a while, do you think the 240 is saving you some money for electricity versus the 120 V?
Too much mouse poop. Honestly electric is expensive any way you look at it. This heater is more of a secondary heat source. Before next winter I’ll have to probably put in a gas heater.
Dude -I don't want to die doing this. Can you install mines. I need 5 install in a two bedroom house. Do I need to up the amperage/watts? The apartment currently has 100 amperage or watts total. If I need 5 how many amperage/watts do I need total? Thanks.
One 20 amp dual pole (240v) breaker will handle 2 of these. installing 5 will be utilizing 60 amps at the same time on a cold day. If your panel is only 100 amp, you will be very close to maxing out your panel depending on your other loads, like fridge, microwave, electric water heater..etc Safe bet would be to upgrade that 100 amp panel to a 200 amp panel, it allows you alot more freedom to do this project as well as many others in the future without any safety concerns. Talk to an electrician, many of them will come give you a free quote, and along with the quote will be alot of answers to the questions you have. If you can wait, wait until spring, doing anything heat related in the winter is asking to be charged more than normal.
Haha. I’m available for hire. But you definitely want to hire an electrician for something like this. It’s a pretty simple realistically but always better with a licensed pro
HELP😭 please tell me its a way to put this heater on a iron pole with wheels so i can wheel it around the house???? A Cadet Com-Pak Electric Wall Heater The gas heat is not as hot any more😩
It's not a good idea to put the thermostat directly above the heater. You won't get an accurate temperature control. It should be on the other side of the room. The heat will rise causing the thermostat to shut down the heater prematurely.
