This video will show you how to install a aftermarket radio into a 1996 Honda Civic. Parts of this install will work for other years, makes, and models. for future installations leave the metal cage or sleeve on while u install the trim kit so that way u save time and u can connect ur radio faster if connect that first before u put the trim but overall u did a good job not many ppl kno how too install radios

@Dean brown I didn't have a metal support with two screws. Only the metal sleeve. From what I could tell though, it's a simple remove two screw process.

I was having so much difficulty with that damn mount, I didn't know it was two pieces, wasn't even mentioned in the manual that came with it. I'm giving up on the damn factory unit

mary sorry for the late response. I picked up ecerything I needed from Crutchfield. Super cheap, comes with instructions and fast shipping. My car has the keyless although it doesn't work.

The rear support metal thingy, that were 2 screws screwed from the bottom, how would u take it the metal out of the original radio and screw it back on the aftermarket radio one, btw I have 1999 civic and the same aftermarket radio u have pioneer

Daniel the previous radio was not bolted in. I didn't know until after I purchased the car but it wasn't a huge problem since it was stock.

So the harness I got comes with one for the long white one, but not the green one, mine had keyless entry before, but not anymore(old owner took it out), I’m trying to put a Boss audio radio in it, but I can’t figure out what the green connector is for

what does the module does I got a civic 96 ex 5 speed and I want to put a bluetooth connected in the back and hopefully the remote for doors will work again

Lucky me, I don't have keyless entry :) You pronounce "solder" differently than I do, but some of the pronunciation dictionaries agree with you and some with me. Learn something every day :).

I have a 98 civic. Radio looks like yours with keyless entry but its a dx with Manual windows and no power lock. I tried pairing keyless remote but it didn’t work. Can i just use harness with one connection instead of the one with two conectors??

So I have a 1996 honda civic hatchback i think its a dx so no power locks or anything and I bought it with the stock radio taken out and all the harness wires cut so i have speaker wires and everything just cut sitting there and I was wondering how im supposed to get the wire harness to work? Would I have to rewire my whole car so that theres a wire harness conector? Please need help

Hi Nate, Even though I did this video, I am no genius at wiring. If at least part of your wires are there for the stereo, you should be able to connect them. You are going to need the vehicle specific harness so you can color code each wire to where it needs to be. You are going to need wire connectors to connect both ends of all wires. A second option is going to a junkyard, finding a car with a harness still intact, and cut it off but be sure to leave enough wire on the end of it. Then use those connectors to connect it to your cut wiring since it should match perfectly.

I bought a 96 civic with aftermarket radio. Headlight dinger is connected to stock radio so is done light.

on my 97 civic the radio is to wide to go into the dash. won't get past the lips on both side

Quindell Wilson The radio is too wide or the kit is too wide. Make sure you have the correct kit.

Sorry for the late response. Sure. You just need the correct install kit. Get the one for 7" instead of this double one meant for radios.

@villalobos anthony if you have keyless entry, you will have a led on the from of the stock radio. Also there will be a extra box above the radio that controls the keyless. You pull those cables out of that box and plug the new wire harness.

why did you take everything off? why didn't you just pull the stock deck, swap it and call it? pulling the glove box and other panels didn't make sense to me.

As long as people were able to benefit from watching this video, that's all that matters. Every car repair or mod I've ever made, I did the video while making the repair for the first time and just figuring it out.
