Fantastic, just installed and was super helpful for the novice. Ran into same issue with water line. 2 trips to home depot is much improved for me, so thanks again!!
I purchased one of these yesterday after my old one took a crap ( no pun intended) on me , just wanted to say your video took me step by step on the install, thank you 👍 from a carpet installer who didn’t know how 👍🍻
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I just installed that exact toilet. At first i tried to do it myself but i screwed up several times lol 🤦🏽♀️. I then decided to see if a tutorial on RU-vid and voila 😁, their your were. Im proud of myself for installing this toilet. The next one i install will be a breeze🙆🏽♀️. Thanks a million. Im now a subscriber 🫡
@@efdcan I ask you a question. I installed the same model toilet but I'm having an issue where the water in the actual bowl slowly empties (3-4 minutes after a flush) but it doesn't refill. Basically it drains but the water in the tank doesn't refill it. It ends up causing the worst smell in the house and even mosquitoes come up from it but I can't figure out the cause and there are no videos addressing this issue. It's not a leak, not the issue that causes the toilet to constantly run, it just empties.
@@Carls_World that is really odd, I've never heard of that happening before. the trap is built into the toilet so it can't really drain on its own. could be a manufacturing issue on your specific toilet.
@@efd that's what I'm thinking. I think it's a defective toilet. So, I'm going to call the hotline tomorrow to see what they will do. It's so bad. I took a video but I would need to record the draining part separately. It's so weird, right? It's the Glacier Bay 215-583 . Unreal! Anyway, thank you for the quick response and for sharing your thoughts. It definitely helps.
This was great. I watched it prior to installation and while I installed my toilet. I did install the washers under the wing nut in the base per the instructions but other than that it was just what I needed. Thank you for losing all the bs animations and music. I just wanted to install my toilet, not dance while I do it! 😂
Love the video, very straight forward, however, I think you should have used some teflon tape for the connection between the two metal connections for the water intake. I think the plastic part is okay as there is a gasket, but metal on metal should have teflon. Only my opinion of coarse as I am NOT a plumber.
I used to put teflon on as well but found with some of the cheaper materials, the metal/plastic would flex and the gasket wouldn't sit right leading to leaks. Not sure if its common but since it happened to me a couple times, I put my faith in the rubber gasket. :)
Me looking here for an answer with the same toilet model, how to increase the water level in the bowl? It is very low. After installation, I found lots of bad reviews complaining about same thing about low water in the bowl. Great video of installation.
I really appreciate these types of straightforward, easy-to-understand videos! Thanks for sharing! I do have a question... Does your toilet have a flush adjustment where you can adjust the flush, say if you have a house full of boys and you sorta need the #2 flush side to flush things down and not leave unwantables lingering about after they've flushed and left the bathroom? I have two of these toilets that someone else installed so I don't have any paperwork remaining that might have clarified this possible function of this toilet brand and so I don't know where to look inside the water tank to visually see if there's some sort of manual lever I can adjust if one does exist.
I haven’t found a way to adjust the flush, the water level in the bow is based on the height of the p trap so you can’t adjust that. For the tank, it fills to the top of the overflow so you can’t add more water by adjusting the float. I haven’t had any issues with mine.
Right on brother this is my very first toilet seat ever putting in and I am replacing two toilets in my church I should say our church thank you very much I will let you know how it all turns out
Seems like with the fancy new kitchen remodel and looks like a bit of a bathroom refresh a slow close seat seems to be in order. Well done straightforward as usual!
the new "better than wax" is so much better than the OG wax ring. that being said, it sure is nice to watch a video instead of reading that installation instructions packet O_o !! by the way ...... the "new" glacier bay" toilets have a BLACK and GREY flap for the big and little flushes. THE BLACK ONE IS THE BIG FLUSH
I didn't install the toilet but it's new (5 months) and when you flush the toilet only drains, no water comes out of the rim, it never did from the beginning apparently so I'm assuming it has to do with bad installation. do you know what the problem could possibly be?
I installed it exactly as you said but once we tried flushing the water came out from on top where the lid. I’m not sure if the washer is too tight on on the water line or what’s going on. Please help
came out the top of the tank or from between the tank and the bowl? If its between the 2, could be the rubber washer didn't seat correctly or its overtightened which is causing a crease.
I just bought two of these toilets to replace my old ones, so this video will be very helpful. My only question is was there an older toilet there before and if so, did you use liqui-lock for the excess water in both the bowl and tank?
we did a replace a toilet. For the water in the old one, we flushed it, used a plunger to push as much water out as we could and carried it out outside. We have some water dripping but cleaned it up with a mop and towels.
Hmmm, that is odd, sounds like something might be blocking the water flow from the tank to the toilet. The flush is powered by the tank water pushing in the bowl at the bottom. Check the tank to see if there is any plastic or something at the bottom blocking the water.
Hello, I have this same toilet it was already installed in the house I recently purchased. The toilet now runs water intermittently. Normally when that happens you would adjust the float inside the tank. I have done that and it keeps running anyway. It will stop running once I adjust the float but then as soon as you flush the toilet it starts running again and you have to readjust the float again. Can you tell me how to fix this so it stops running?
The only problem I had with this toilet is that is a low flow toilet not everything goes down like is supposed to do. I’ve have to use the snake once in a while and get it to go down.
*Jay 949, I just left a message addressing this same issue! Well, I guess I really didn't "address" the issue, more like questioning this issue would be more descriptive. I wondered if there was some sort of lever or something that could be manually adjusted to increase the flush power?! And, since it was assembled by someone else and the inner workings are all in place, I wouldn't know where to look for something like that inside the water tank if there were! I just can't see there NOT being some way to adjust the flush. I'll keep looking and if I find something, I'll come back and let you know! Until then, be & stay well!
I bought a toilet like this, but the black plastic piece is not in the wax ring. I tried to return it to home depot and they told me that this is how they are manufacturing them now. Would it be a problem without the black plastic piece?
Hello. Your tank does not move around after you put it on and mine does a lot! I’ve tighten the bolts but the water tank still moves a lot. Any suggestions?
There is one in the Motel i'm staying at; Question, which despite 'All these videos on RU-vid' about this unit....NO ONE...explains!!?? What...do the two different push buttons...Do? Meaning, which one do you push...and ...'For What'? One is more water used? or...Push Both?.... Why does one button have a single water drop icon...and the other, 'Two?.....Somebody....explain the use... not just...the 'Installation?? Thank you
the single water drop is for number 1 and the double water drop is for number 2. Double water drops uses more water to fully flush down any solid waste.
@@efd OK I saw that in the instructions and I want to replace two toilets but one of them is 10.5 inches and the other is 11 inches. Is this going to create a problem?
Fyi if your bolts drop to low... tin foil to build up the space gaps worked for me. Just sayen. I hope this helps someone. If I didnt put rin foil down there for the bolts it would have been a nightmare to keep them vertically to get into the toil holes
