Thanks for the video, looking at installing this in my 2017 Mazda3. Looks easy enough but haven’t seen a video where someone has done it with an electric hand brake and the sliding draw
@DrivingProduction

Yes it's pretty straight forward. For the 17-18 I'm not sure if you need to remove more of the climate controls to get access to the USB. Hopefully it works out for you!
@amped12345

if you have the electric parking break. DO NOT .....I REPEAT DO NOT Disconnect the parking brake switch or push start button. the car will flip tf out. Or alternatively just disconnect the battery when working on the car . all will be well and it will be the same process

Done it this week and didn't have to change anything on mine. Just get the correct files on the stick drive and install it. A different video, though, nothing like this one

Thanks for the helpful video. I just upgraded my 2014 Mazda3. The hardest part for me was routing the wires. I would have liked to see a little more detail on how to do that. I ended up using a flexible rod and tape to fish the wires. At 1:30, it took me a while to notice you had removed the large lower panel.

Very common omission by YT uploaders especially with the infotainment upgrade. Content is usually incomplete and you have to be very astute and now in advance what's missing. Caveats and frequent problems are usually not mentioned too. Like in this video, dude does everything fast. 99.9% of the time the content is not for helpfulness but likes and 💲💲

Great video, thank you!! One question, what about the cable you pulled through the left side? How did you bring it inside the infotainment control section?
@DrivingProduction
@DrivingProduction Месяц назад
Thanks glad you liked the video! For the cables I fed them from the top, and guided them with gravity, you could also feed them from the bottom if you tape them to a metal coat hanger. Hope this helps!

@@DrivingProduction thanks for replying. So, in this video you have them duct taped or do u somehow fed them again from the inside on the side after grabbing them at the bottom?

Great video thank you. Do you by chance knows how much amperage the USB port is putting out? I've wired android auto on another car and it outputs 1A and doesn't really charge my phone.

Thank you for a great tutorial! I have a question. Why is that the OEM Mazda Kit USA only contains 2 USB cables without the HUB unit but costs $213? Can you share where you get the cables?
@DrivingProduction
@DrivingProduction Месяц назад
Glad to hear the video was useful! Maybe certain models don't need the hub from factory just the cables? I thought the OEM kit was around $500 (CAD), or maybe Mazda sells the cable alone as a replacement part. Not sure TBH but I would get the complete kit if I were you.

Thank you for the video! I followed your instructions after updating from firmware version 59.xx to 74.xx and installed the new hub. However, after installing it, I noticed something weird. I have no Apple Carplay or Android Auto options under Applications. They just don't appear there. I double checked the system version and it's running 74.xx NA, but something must have gone wrong. Luckily, everything works as before. In fact, the system just starts up much faster now, but this entire surgical endeavor was meant to enable AA/AC, but I have no luck. I've also had no luck finding a solution as I couldn't find any reports of users installing both the new firmware and the retrofit kit and not seeing the AA/AC options at all. Would anyone happen to have run into this? Any ideas on what I could do to fix it? Thank you in advance!

Glad you liked the video! Sorry to hear you are having issues with it, have you tried using different cables to connect your phone? Sometimes that can have an impact on it, apart from that sounds like a software issue not sure what it could be

@DrivingProduction

That's a great question, but I'm not sure to what extent Toyota changed the Mazda 2 to sell it as a Yaris. I would assume its the same, but you'd have to make more research to confirm.

I'm not 100% sure if that's possible the closest thing I know of is the AIO mod, here's a video that goes over it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-y77xS68pXds.html

@@DrivingProductionI'll tell you why, I had mazda 3 2011, someone carshed into it. now i'm carless and thinking getting mazda 3 2016, but my old mazda had android head unit that was compatable with the OBD2, I had my dashboard on my headunit, it was great for diagnostic and track use.
@DrivingProduction
@DrivingProduction 4 месяца назад
Ah I see that makes sense! I don't think you can mod the factory screen to that extent but I know you can replace it with an android unit like you had in you 2011 and have the same features. They sell them on eBay and Amazon.

@@ballarinc2123 I mean, my car has a Bluetooth phone connection built in as standard and you can receive calls and play music. If I want to put the Android Auto on, will I lose these wireless functions and it can only be connected via cable?
