What I missed the first time watching the video was you saying that the two rows you are marking with the felt tip are going to be removed and re-positioned against the wall. This is at point 1:33. All was much clearer after I grasped that fact. I am going to lay a new floor in my house and will use your 'Cheater Board' technique. Many thanks!

You are a life saver! Your videos are so straight forward and detailed that I as a teacher have installed my flooring myself in a very small space (4 x 8'). I would not tackle a large room, but I know I can watch someone doing the job and know if they really know what they're doing. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skills!

took me a while to get the hang of the cheater board, but it makes sense to me now lol. This helps, almost done with a room and I will do my kitchen next.
Excellent videos. Consider myself a decent trim carpenter, but laying these new flooring types takes a whole different thought process. I am currently doing a large floor project and your video series is making the project much smoother and easier than I imagined. It just seems like he has alot of problems with his technique. He always has issues going through door ways, etc. And always has a lot of wasted material. Jobs are taking too long to be completed. I just want this trade to be profitable for him. I am starting from scratch with zero experience so I need to watch several times. Thank you!! You will need to use three cheater boards. one for each size plank. So, you would use the cheater board that was made for the size plank you are going to cut. Make sense?
With putting the male end of the cheater board into the female end of the scrap piece how does this end up working out with adding a 1/4 inch of the spacing needed ?
The laminate flooring that you are using looks like click and lock (maybe?) ....will this "cheater board" method work with the (i think its tongue and groove) Hand Scraped Strand Woven Sandbrook 1/2 in. T x 5-1/8 in. W x 72-7/8 in. L Solid Bamboo Flooring that i got from The Home Depot?
3/8 is a pretty big gap I know that's what your manufacturer is stating but a quarter inch is going to be plenty. Anyway just don't cut as much of the tongue love when you're making a cheater board that will make a cheater board a little bit bigger which will then take more off of your plank that your marking
