Michelle, from Virtual Hand Care, will show you how to make your own hot pack at home by filling rice inside a sock. Best of all, no sewing is needed!!
Simply pop it in the microwave for 60-90 seconds and apply it to your hand or wrist for 10-15 minutes. And feel the relief...aaahhhh!
Moist heat has so many benefits including increased circulation, decreased pain, and stiffness relief. So if your hand and fingers are stiff and painful then give this quick DIY rice heating pad a try.
✅ EQUIPMENT to make your own hot pack:
2 Socks without holes

You can also heat a cotton sock up on the stove top in a pan flipping constantly.

Better than buying one, for sure!The ones I saw on Amazon catch on fire after several uses.. Will this happen with the homemade rice heating pad too? Also I saw people on those videos heat up the pad with a glass of water- how does this help? Thx!!

Great video but I’m wondering how this is a moist heat? I have done this but it is a dry heat not moist. Is the towel moist?
@VirtualHandCare
@VirtualHandCare Год назад
Great point! From my understanding rice holds on to the heat and slowly releases moisture as it cools.

Excellent! One webpage I came across mentioned using a mix of rice and flax seeds. Does anyone know any advantage of having flax seeds in there? Please let me know. Thank you.

I have seperate hot packs with rice and flax, but not both mixed together. However I have not found a noticeable difference in either one.

If fabric material is a concern then throw the pad in washer dryer could be a safest choice

You would have to dump the rice, wash the sock and refill with new or the dumped rice.

Good question. I'm not sure, but many hot packs you purchase online that go in the microwave are made of a variety of materials such as fleece or linen.

The rice has moisture in it and when you microwave it the water gets excited and it becomes dampish.
