I share 9 steps to make a marriage work. We find it shocking to learn that 70% of the problems in a marriage are unresolvable. Any two different people brought together will have conflict. But differences are what make a relationship, differences make each other relevant and interesting.
In this video I take you through 9 steps that will make your marriage work. Take notes on these:
1. Real Positivity
2. What Values
3. Humility Hack
4. About Forgiveness
5. What about Respect
6. Where Does Love Fit
7. Then Compassion
8. Is There Work
9. Recreation and fun
Watch and Enjoy!

1. Positivity 2. Shared values 3. Humility-give up your need to be right. Be willing to change. 4. Forgiveness 5. Respect 6. Love 7. Compassion 8. Work 9. Recreation/fun Great advice--thank you! I've read some of Gottman's work--what I took away from it is that much of marriage success comes down to generosity and kindness. I see it as: generosity is being accepting/tolerant of the whole person (even when they're crabby) and letting them be who they are/not trying to change them. Kindness is treating someone well/decently/politely. It boils down to good manners and being nice--like we were taught in kindergarten!

Forgiveness - giving up our demand for a better past. This is amazing - never heard it worded this way.

Awesome stuff! (now ya tell me...) Thanks Dr. Paul. Some of those nine principles sound vaguely familiar, btw. ;)

Yes Jeni, I don't think it would take much research for you to identify the original source. I'm reminded of a quote from Bob Proctor who said "I love to brag about my stuff, because none of it is mine!" Thanks for watching and for sharing.

This is fantastic! Do you have one that guarantees like this one but for parents?

You know what Michelle, these same principles apply to parenting or any "family" relationship. Beyond that, check out the new Parenting Power-up Audio Course that Vicki and I are releasing in the next few weeks - parentingpowerup.com DrPaul

How do you deal with the outing from one of the spouse as homosexual, transgender, kinky, asexual....?

Mackalay Yanssane, the other person would have to decide what they are ok with. Couples decide their relationship.

Nothing makes a marriage work if one spouse is a pathological liar.

Kathryn Carter, that does make it extremely difficult. I guess it gets back to we can't control another person, only our own self.

elvira Dlaton, no, it doesn't have to be. In addition to the tips I give in this video, you might consider watching "How To Overcome Insecurity IN A Relationship": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xM1MFnWppFM.html. It may not be an exact answer to your question, but pay close attention to when I talk about the Green Quadrant - that will help a lot when it comes to a successful marriage. We also have a lot of videos in our "Positive Relationship Resources" playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PLq2mRDkHEBPA410uJ9woXx9B9WiPyM7fX Maybe you can watch them with your sweetheart to get some ideas of how to create a successful marriage. Thank you for watching.
