Tip with ver.2 - When printing out the image, make the image on your computer/ipad/etc grey. So when you have the print out, and tracing over it with pen, you won't miss a line. Pro-tip 2 - Just like with tattooing, I trace/draw my lines with a very deliberate starting and stopping point for each line. Meaning I know when I'm going to press my pen on the paper, and when I stop. Don't stop in the middle of a curved line, try to finish the line to where it meets the next line (hope that makes sense).

I really appreciate what you're doing mate. I've been putting together my portfolio for a few years whilst working full time and training at night. I also have a family and I thought it wasn't fair to put my aspirations of tattooing in front of my kids welfare by getting an apprenticeship and dropping our income so I didn't know what to do. I just thought I'll keep drawing until I figure it out. My tattoo artist always helps out with questions when I ask and she said I can sit in the shop and observe any time but I thought, how much am I going to learn with a few days observing her here and there? This needs to be a full time gig in order to get good at it. I always thought doing it yourself wasn't the way to go as I thought it'd be frowned upon in the community but after watching this I've changed my mind. If you care about the standard of your work and the hygiene is on point then why does it matter? Sometimes the "rules" need to be broken. Thank you for your service as well👍

I really understand where your coming from Jimmy, it's really hard when you have a family that relies on you, so I feel you there brother!! I would absolutely take her up on that offer to come and watch and observe her work now and then, as it can help you out over all. I do agree that a full apprenticeship needs to be full time however as you know that doesn't work for everyone specially in situations like your own. Tattooing yourself is still frowned upon by the community as a whole but thats just a bunch of crap if you ask me. So many great artist came from home. I agree with you Jimmy sometimes the "rules" absolutely need to be broken. Remember its your life you do what you want and dont let anyone tell you no or that you shouldn't or whatever. If you want something bad enough make it happen. And it sounds like you are determined, patient and responsible so jump in and keep rocking!! you got this brother!! 🤘🤘

I usually lay the desing straight on the ink layer and then draw the lines.. and the stencil is directly on the other side of the paper, then just cut it in shape and transfer to skin.. and you will have those two thin papers still to cover up the remaining ink on the sheet 🙂

do you have a studio in home or do you work outside the home? I’m trying to figure out a set up. I personally get my tattoos done at someone’s house and I don’t mind because the work is so nice and he keeps it clean. He had mentioned he would rather work for himself and pay his own rent instead of someone else’s and I totally feel that with saving money.

Thank you for commenting this and saving my faith in humanity 😂 I'm like ... We are missing a verrrryyyy simple option. To be fair, the tissue paper is a bit easier to contour on the body, but I almost like the rigidity of the copy paper and making precise and controlled cuts (as opposed to wrinkles);n the stencil for contours

Yes you can apply it to the skin and no you dont need to run it through anything at that point. Just put some stencil stuff on the skin and put the stencil on hold down for a little bit and peal the stencil off and you should be good to go. Thank you Joel for watching appreciate it!! 🤘🤘

@ArtSomething

You can use the printer paper but the problem with using the printer paper for me is that it’s not as easy to make printer paper curl around the body. Wow the thin tracing like paper flex is a bit more it makes it easier for me to apply the stencil to the skin. I hope this makes sense and I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel keep rockin🤘🤘🤘

For the most part that's correct. Each artist may do things a bit different as far as aftercare is concerned. But for the most part just wipe it off clean it well, apply thin layer of A&D or whatever ointment you use, then wrap it. If you are using sanidurm or something like that then the process can be a little different. I hope this answered your question. And thanks for watching its much appreciated! 🤘

honestly I have no idea. They where just pens I had laying around. Some are better then others but a pen that glides well should work great. 🤘🤘

Just use a clipboard or a bulldog clip to hold everything in place, plus copy transfer straight to the copy its much thicker so can be used a few times, and last tip!! Use a coloured gel pen you can see the areas you have marked on the transfer much better, no missing small details.

Can you add both the stencil paper and ink paper to a printer and print it on there that way if you don't have the tattoo ink for a printer?

My coach told me to use hvs paper over the blue papper in stencil paper. They say u can use 2 times if using HVS paper.

Hey man I really appreciate your videos they've been helping a lot, I've got some decent carbon paper but when I try and transfer the design onto some Reelskin it's either smudged as hell or so faded it disappears with the first wipe. Could you give any pointers on actually transferring onto skin or fake skin? I can't work out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for all the great work Edit: just saw your relevant video

@@ArtSomething thanks again, I know you've been seeing this a lot in the comments (cause it's true) but you're honestly such a helpful source of inspiration, your lining video transformed my technique/results from just a short video, and you do all this free of charge off your own back. You're a breath of fresh air in what is otherwise a very competitive and closed off industry

Does it have to be applied right away? Can I have it on the side and when I got time put it / them to skin and it'll stay.?..

Hey if you end up not pressing hard enough is it cool to retrace a part?

First method is more time consuming . For second method I use a clipboard to hold the transfer and design paper in place .
