Made this for dinner last night, very tasty, will certainly make it again and remember the yoghurt and chilli flake finish. Took a bit longer in our gas oven to cook the veg, I'm guessing your fan assisted oven is more efficient.

Looks great! Chetna, you didn't mention rinsing the red lentils though yours actually looked pretty clean and not too dusty anyway. The ones I find even in the big supermarkets like T's and M's seem to need 2-3 rinses before the water runs reasonably clear.

The tastiest looking piece of art I've see, super impressive to the eye. Was at work earlier so managed to get harissa and we have cauliflower to use up, looking forward to this for dinner tonight. Just noticed your subscription numbers, that shot up quick, Congratulations Chetna.

Hi I’d just like to say thank you for all your videos . A quick question does the cauliflower get soft enough in the oven ? I love cauliflower but I’m not keen on crunchy veg , 😊

I am not a big cauliflower fan, I have to hide it with something so that I can eat it. I do like it roasted, I will roast some up and toss in with some tomato and Indian spices But when you took the pan with the cauliflower and onions out of the oven, my mouth started to water. I love watching your videos and making your recipes, but for me, this one was pretty much over the top. If you will excuse the expression, pure food porn. I have a chicken chili in the slow cooker for dinner tonight, but I think I might have an idea for tomorrow now ;)

Chetna a quick question - when my partner and I do our curry evenings she loves doing the Dal but the recipes more often than not include tomatoes. Would you say the tomatoes aren't the right way or a matter of taste? Thanks for all your videos 😋

Tomatoes are not necessary for lentils, there are hundreds of ways of cooking, try this and see what you think. Also try the tadka dal recipe from my channel, I highly recommend it

Roasted sweet potatoes would probably work well in this recipe. They hold up better when roasted and don't disintegrate plus the roasting adds a nice smokey flavor and brings out their sweetness.

I used to be a Huge Nigella Lawson fan as a kid (actually I still am).. used to come back home from school and watch her show nigella bites on TLC almost every single day... while watching you enjoy eating what you've cooked.. it just struck me that may be... you have replaced her for me.. you're like a warmer.. more relatable version of her (may be because of your indian roots, idk) anyway amazing recipe as always!!! :)

Hi Chetna! As always, your recipe looks delicious! I’m making it tomorrow for dinner. Do the lentils have to be soaked and/rinsed prior to cooking? Also, would you be able to share the brand of harissa paste you used? Thank you for the daily videos! Always inspiring me to cook new and easy dishes.

I would not handle food with harissa in it. The slightest paper cut and and the torture begins. Or one touches the eye and - boom! - one forgets all about dinner.
