Thanks for this! It's the best recipe for p.b. cups I've found. I tweaked it a bit & added a little brandy to the p.b., & used semi-sweet chocolate chips. Also very tasty to add some rice crispies type cereal to the p.b. . Thanks again -was a very easy & quick addition to the Christmas goodies!

Matt, Thanks for the great recipe and method. I've been making these the hard way. Your method of rolling the peanut butter into a ball and spooning the chocolate on top and on sides is MUCH easier. I did make some with Kahlua and Almond butter. Awesome.

They look excellent! I'm not sure of the combination of peanut butter and chocolate (tho I do like peanut butter); but you showed how very easy they are to make. Maybe one could improvise with perhaps a cherry in the center, or a small marshmallow... Of course, the cherry would have to be soaked in brandy, French Brandy naturally, but I would imagine that one's imagination could run away with them on ideas for the center of these cups. In France they make a rather delicious chocolate with Brandy inside them. They color the chocolate in different shades too, and give the chocolate a spiky rough edge to it. They are amazing! I so wish I knew how this is achieved, and how they put the brandy inside. Any clue on how that is done, Matt?
@inthekitchenwithmatt
@inthekitchenwithmatt 5 лет назад
Chocolate and peanut butter is one of the best combinations ever. I don't drink alcohol, so have never tried the French Brandy chocolates, although I have heard of them. I imagine they inject it with a syringe or something. Not really sure.

Been making these a long time now, use cooking chocolate same texture and tast as Reese cup, soft enough to complement filling as you bite into it TAST EXCACTLY LIKE REESE CUP, also, roll a ball of filling about a teaspoon (little more) Lay on counter and flatern with palm of hand to disc shape a tiny bit smaller than bottom of cup case, make before you melt your chocolate and lift with knife under disc into chocolate cup, One teaspoon chocolate, one heap teaspoon filling in disc, and one sooonfull of chocolate, done

Like I said in the video you can use whatever chocolate you want and whatever nut butter that you want, especially homemade organic peanut butter. Hi, Nutella doesn't harden the way chocolate does. But you can certainly try it. :) You could use Nutella and then freeze it. But it will definitely get really soft at room temp. But give it a try and find out for yourself, that is what makes learning fun, trying things out.

How do the get the actual reese's cups penut butter filling texture? I'm trying to match that
@inthekitchenwithmatt
@inthekitchenwithmatt 4 года назад
Adam that is a pretty specific filling it is hard to match the exact texture and taste because it is made in a factory, and also has preservatives to make the shelf life so much better. These homemade versions are much better in my opinion. You may be able to find another recipe that has a closer match to the store bought Reese's.

Hi, this looks great but i have a question. Peanut butter in regular Reese’s is very salty (thats why i love it). But you don’t put any salt. Instead of you add sweet. Is it really tastes like Reese’s or something similar with chocolate and peanut?
@inthekitchenwithmatt

Great question, I don't like the salt in the Reese's that is why for me these are "Better Than Reese's". But you can always add 1/2 tsp. of salt in with the peanut butter if you like. The best thing to do is to make them and try them yourself. And see what you think. :) Maybe do a side by side taste test. :)

Yo Matt can i use regular Sugar or Brown Sugar For This
@inthekitchenwithmatt
@inthekitchenwithmatt 5 лет назад
You can try it, but I don't think it will work very well, the reason why the powdered sugar works is it also helps to turn the consistency of the peanut butter into more of like a play dough, without making it too sweet. If you don't have powdered sugar, what I recommend is just put a layer of chocolate down first in the paper cup then put that in the fridge for like 10 minutes to firm up. Then just spoon normal peanut butter on top, without adding any extra sugar, then add another layer of chocolate. I just think it will get way to sweet if you use regular white granulated sugar or brown sugar.

Hi Matt, how r u ? I like to ask your opinion about bread making...why does homemade bread smell or taste too yeasty ??
@inthekitchenwithmatt
@inthekitchenwithmatt 5 лет назад
Hello Chua, it depends on the yeast you are using, and how much you are using. Also too long of rising time might make it taste yeasty. If the recipe calls to let the dough rise for 2 hours, or until doubled, if the dough has doubled after only 45 minutes or an hour, then it is ready. Also if you are having trouble with yeasty bread, try using a little less yeast.

Honesty, I don't get why everyone who shares this same store bought peanut butter and confectioners sugar recipe raves about it being "better than" Reese's. I was first taught this recipe years ago by my second grade science teacher. I found it mediocre then and still do now. Way too sweet and completely wrong consistency. Gave away all the ones I made. So far nothing rivals a real Reese's cup for my taste. Will keep searching because being able to make my own would be plain cool. In the meantime I'll continue to buy Reese's when the craving strikes.
@inthekitchenwithmatt
@inthekitchenwithmatt 5 лет назад
To each their own. Everyone has their own tastes. Reese's is too salty for me. I prefer homemade hands down. Plus you can use all kinds of different nut butters and different kinds of chocolate. Like a 70 percent godiva or lindt dark chocolate bar. Usually when I make these for a party I do an assortment especially of dark and milk chocolate varieties. Also Paul have you ever thought that people like making this easy homemade version because they know exactly what is going into them? That isn't my reason, I don't get too hung up with that stuff and don't mind eating store bought or processed food, but a lot of people are more health conscious then me, LOL. Anyways, if on your search you find a better recipe send it my way I will try it out. 👍

Look down in the description box the full list of ingredients are there. But you can make them without the amounts. @inthekitchenwithmatt
@inthekitchenwithmatt 4 года назад
hahaha, powdered sugar while made from granulated sugar is not the same as far as calories, etc. For example if you were substituting powdered sugar for granulated, you would need 1 3/4 cup for 1 cup of granulated. But at any rate, peanut butter cups are supposed to be sweet. :) You can reduce the sugar a bit, but then the peanut butter gets super sticky and his hard to work with. But if you are making them, they are your peanut butter cups, so make them how you like. :) :) You can't go wrong and are easy to make your own variation.
