I don't quite understand all these comments. I think it's smart. Everybody hear claiming he's gonna shoot up a mall. He's using his time by working with his hands. Whether it's weapons off a video game or being a gunsmith or even a carpenter. It's a good way to release stress or even emotions in a healthy way. I respect that.

Liked what you said about owning weapons doesn't mean you will harm someone. My friend was put in jail yesterday for bringing an unloaded makeshift cannon to school, because making them was his hobby and he wanted to show his buddies. Minimum sentence is two years. Backwards world we live in.
sadly, yes, i am totally serious. He was 19 too, so hell be tried as an adult. Our principal at the school lost his shit and called the FBI (yes the real actual FBI), a houston bomb squad, swat team, k9s, firetrucks, ambulances, and 3 different police squads. It made the front page of fucking yahoo, when im sure that all could have been dealt with without any legal action whatsoever, and just internal punishment. Now they damn near ruined this kids life for having a hobby. (still, it was stupid of him to bring it in the first place)
Nippledozer As bad as I feel for you and your friend, surely you must see there is a difference between someone being called a creep for making a weapon, and someone getting in trouble for bringing a weapon to a place that has a 0 tolerance weapon policy, like a school, don't you? Responsibility with weapons doesn't just mean not killing people, it also encompasses being mindful of the people around you, and making sure not to unnecessarily worry people. You know I love weapons, I'd love to live in a world where we could still carry blades at our sides, and you know I'd never bring harm to an innocent person, but that doesn't mean I can walk into a 0 tolerance shopping mall with a machete on my hip. All this stuff about 1st graders getting expelled for eating their pop-tarts into the shape of guns is completely retarded, I'm totally against that. But if it's somewhere that's told you specifically not to bring weapons, it's safe to assume you will get in trouble for bringing a weapon. Maybe your friend should've asked the principal first, that could've saved a lot of grief, whether because he would give him permission or because he wouldn't have, and your friend wouldn't have brought it and got in trouble. I'm sorry for you and your friend, I'll keep you both in my prayers.
Nonlethalbychoice thanks, friend. i definately know what you are saying and agree 100%. i know it was very stupid of him to do that, but i just dont find the level of punishment he recieved necessary. i miss the old america.
Nonlethalbychoice It wasn't loaded so how could it even harm someone? You take a machete into any class and that potential to hurt someone is present unlike an unloaded canon. It's just not the same and you would likely only receive a slap on the wrist if you immediately explained the machete was just something you wanted to show the class. I understand a 0 tolerance policy but this went far beyond. This is an example of when the government fights fear with fear. By punishing him in such an undeserving manner they are trying to set an example - a friendly way to say controlling with fear. Punishing this kid isn't going to inform other hobbyists of the dangers of creating something the law wants to suppress. It makes you question the aims of the law; whether it aims to populate prisons or is just incredibly paranoid. Either way the system is clearly flawed to its core. A lot of people are starting to realise and mostly because the system is expanding to include them in its big black list. If/when this happens to you most people will see you as crazy because fearing the fear of fear seems too confusing. Odds are they won't even think the system can be afraid.
Samuel Cright I agree that the system is flawed in big ways, but ways that if we delved into, would lead to a completely different conversation than the one I was originally having. The first part of your comment tells me that you seem to have missed the point of what I was saying. I wasn't trying to say that he was wrong because he would've (or even could've) harmed anyone with an unloaded potato gun, but that he got in trouble for the same reason someone would get in trouble for bringing, say, an unloaded AK-47 to school. "Responsibility with weapons doesn't just mean not killing people, it also encompasses being mindful of the people around you, and making sure not to unnecessarily worry people." is what I said. And I have no idea where you get the notion that anyone at all would "most likely" just receive a slap on the wrist for bringing a machete to school, this story on it's own is a rather reasonable amount of evidence to refute that belief. You say "I understand 0 tolerance weapon policy" but you then (with all due respect) go on to demonstrate that you really do not. They've basically said "Look, for the most part we don't care what you do at home, but you're choosing to be a part of this establishment so we're telling you now, DO NOT bring anything even weapon-like to this school, or there WILL be major repercussions.", so when you then go and bring a weapon to school, what would you expect to happen? Now do I think what the kid did was inherently evil? Absolutely not. I don't believe he had any intention to harm anyone. But every Highschooler is given the rules and regulations for the expected behavior one is to have if they would like to attend said Highschool, and are warned of what will happen if they commit whichever offense. If you'd like to dispute the actual reasonableness of those rules, regulations, and punishments, that's a different conversation to be had with a different person. My main point was that if an establishment (any at all, not just Highschool) that you have chosen to be a part of gives rules and warns of what will happen if you break them, it's not the establishment's wrongdoing to act on the penalties it promised if the person breaks the rules.
dude did you beat cancer? why are you so up beat and wise sounding? bro your like a boss and way to go bringing God into things people dont do that enough good job man keep it up
That speech at the end was very inspirational. Alas, the furthest I've gotten into weapon crafting is making microserrated blades, screwdriver throwing darts, and attaching a couple feet of shoestrings to the lanyard hole of a pocket knife to make a makeshift rope dart, all dangerous objects, but all for the purpose of learning how best these tools work. I thank you for being such a great person, even during these days of your life.
Great work, man! You make such oddly beautiful works of art! I'm currently designing a sword based off my own katana, called the apocalypse katana which I hope will combine the traditional aesthetics of the sword with the drab of a junkyard. It's looking great!
Something about a saw blade. Years ago my son asked me to design a weapon for a movie he was filming with friends. Character needed something she had thrown together using only garage items. I looked around and saw a 12" rip saw blade and a youth size wooden baseball bat. Easy enough. Everyone was blown away at how wicked it looked. Stumbled on your video and had to check it out. Great job, and very artistic.
I really like this kid. he's respectful and down to earth and he seems like he really cares about the viewers. BTW I love the weapon builds. keep up the good work 👍.
Love the bit at the end where ya talked about making weapons!! I would love to teach you about knife and tomahawk throwing/making let me know if you are interested!
man i got all nostalgic rewatching this, I'm so glad your living the dream, I know its hard now with all the demonetization and crud but still, congratulations! you're actually doing what you love for a living! whether its tomahawks or coffee tables i've loved every video and i cant wait for the new ones!
I really like this kid. he's respectful and down to earth and he seems like he really cares about the viewers. BTW I love the weapon builds. keep up the good work.
I made something similar to this, but instead of using sheet metal as the backbone of this build, i used some pipes, fastened with bolts. In order to make the sawblade extend outward like the one on your tomahawk, i used sections of aluminum, also fastened with bolts to the main pipe. I really appreciated what you said at the end of the video about people like you and I making stuff because its cool and fun, its really great to hear that from someone who already has such a huge footprint on youtube so far. Love the vids and content. Great work as usual
You are by far, my favorite RU-vidr Eli. No joke. You are such a great guy, and you do pretty freakin' cool stuff. Thankyou for being you, and not caring what, as you say, 96 pound prepubescent boys hiding behind a keyboard and computer screen think about you. You are truly an inspiration to me, and many others.
Nice! Good work young sir. Small tip for you.... when cutting a bolt, thread the nut on before you cut (if space allows). This way when you remove the nut (prior to install) it will clean the threads up for you. It makes for an easy re-thread. Keep up the creativity.
Chris Murphy lol he was censoring himself for the little kids who watch this. because as he said. he was making things like that at 12 so in his eyes some 12 year olds may watch this and might wanna build this
I like your philosophy on not giving full, step-by-step instructions. The biggest part of learning in my opinion is puzzling some things out for yourself. Learning a thousand ways something won't work just makes you that much stronger at making it in a way or in ways that it will work. By just following "the correct way," you may never learn WHY it's correct, you may never come up with improvements on it, and you may never really be attached to it. But if you have to design it yourself it becomes more important to you which motivates you to make it better, and it makes you know WHY you ended up where you did. Anyway, sorry for rambling. Thanks for the cool videos, keep up the good work.
I like this guy lol. He knows what he's talking about... aside from calling a nut a bolt, but I did that for years tbh. And that's just terminology. Sounds like a good guy
LOL! Yes, I think you're weird, but I love your creative artistic talent! Thanks for the inspiration- I have a 5-gallon bucket full of old saw blades and never knew why I kept them, just knew I'd eventually meet a cool guy like YOU who would give me a reason for not throwing them out. Thanks, and best wishes your way, my friend!
CheeseGraphicsHD K as in the shortened version of 'Okay'. You say the letter and it sounds like 'Kay, which is something people do find themselves writing and saying, as opposed to 'Okay'. If you fail to grasp something as basic as that, you may want to go back to school and learn a bit more about thinking outside of the box. And before you make a wiseass comment about how you were being a wiseass, I'm being one too :^)
i know this is an old vid but i just had to comment i like the talking at the end you hit alot of stuff on the head. it dosnt matter what others think as long as you are safe and happy that is all that matters
you just made me think that if I stop playing games, sell my Xbox 360, and get into the real world, I can be helpful to others and help them bring out their creativeness and help others. keep doing what you do.
Sawblades aren't reversible, there would only be blunt edges if you flipped it backwards. Lesser chance it would snag, yes, but only because it wouldn't cut into anything.
ZNA Productions Well if you put an idea out there on a public medium you can only expect it to be analyzed and criticized. Hey, if they want to waste their time, energy, money, and the resources of the rest of the sane public because they watched too many horror movies and can't tell the difference between verifiable science, and fiction: have at it. Buy a bunch of crossbows, and slime green tomahawks, and swords and tell yourself that it isn't just a silly obsession. Who am I to judge? Just someone tasked with defending this country and it's majority of insane inhabitants from real threats. I have yet to be trained how to decapitate a zombie, or survive in a Walmart off of beef jerky and cat food.
Blueshirt Or not. Bit of a stretch to try to Spencer Reid up an analysis about an inability to hear differing views from my 2 words spoken. Here's a revelation: Maybe after a couple thousand comments like yours, you learn to stop paying attention to people trying to change you because they believe their way of thinking is supreme. They all blend together. It's nothing personal, I just wouldn't be where I am professionally or personally if I changed every time someone wanted me to. Have a cool day.
Amazing craftsmanship and awesome art. Yes these are weapons and yes they do have a bad persona for violence but this is truly art. Taking objects and making your thoughts and feelings is amazing. Thanks man
Right, I've been watching a few of your videos now, and I'm done hiding. This was awesome, what you do is awesome. Most of my time searching videos are either of cats or people's creations. Creative people are awesome. :P Also, nice speech at the end, that was pretty chill. Have a subscriber. I can't wait to see what other awesome stuff you come up with. :D
The end is so true! I like to make gadgets like flashlight watches and flashing bow ties and some people think it's weird, but most people just think it's cool :)
also to help with your drilling you can get a set of center punches they come in a set of various sizes you put it in the place you plan to drill and tap it with a hammer then you can drill with out the bit wandering
Looks cool, makes me think of the saw-axe from Borderlands, probably less usefull in actuall combat, BUT, would be a thing you could put on a wall with the other things and say "I made that"
im subbed to over 200 youtubers and you are by far my fave, i found your channel a couple years back but i didnt have a channel so i couldnt sub you. thankfully i just came across your channel again and i am so impressed with your weapons, vlogs, armour and your physique man you have got dench! i remember when guys used to troll you for greasy hair. but you have become an awasome guy. respect man keep it up! so glad i found your channel again today
the holes in the sawblade is to stop it from cracking when it gets hot. since everything gets bigger when it gets hotter and the blade will get diffrent temprature in the middle and the edge it needs some space to ''grow''
Seriously dig your stuff Eli. Love how you challenge and encourage people to do their own thing and use their creativity. Means a lot to see someone creating and using their gifts. Keep it up bruv!
Clever design, well-executed. Not sure I would like this as a defense or survival tool, though. Even though it would unquestionably do much damage to a person or animal, it doesn't have the penetration of a regular hatchet or tomahawk, and can't be used for the multitude of tasks they would also be good for. Though it might be a great deal of work, I'd be interested in seeing something like this made without the saw teeth remaining -- maybe using a wider blade, like an 8-inch diameter, and grinding the teeth off, leaving a very sharp circular blade. It would still be a scary weapon, but could also be used for chopping branches or kindling, or preparing a camp site. Just a thought.
cant tell you how much i liked the last couple minutes there. your absolutely right and im sure you will one day be a professional youtuber. im going to share your channel and recommend it in my vids from now on. keep up the good work man.
Hey im 13 years old and i really like the stuff you do,your so cool and you probably wont read this but i watched this video and the speech you said at the end gave me the inspiration .thankyou.i like armoury and all stuff like that you gave me some good tips thanks again.:)
@ 14:40 and the whole vid, yea i am on your side ! guys, of course weapons are not only made for destruction, they are: tools to fix things, works of art,a reminder of an individual or group's creativity, something to make, something to apply math, science and history with and to ,think about the maxim gun and the math that went into making it in addition to how it changed history
Really good video. Even though a nut is a nut I still liked this and think that you are wise beyond your years. Appreciate the fact you went over safety concerns and no swearing. Keep up the good work.
Tomahawk is awesome, but I subscribed/shared because of the last three minutes. That is deeply inspiring, and sounds like you had a LOT of time reflecting on yourself and others to make your conclusions. Kudos!
The glove thing - It is good to use high quality thick gloves. Couple of times a skin on my hands was saved by those, when grinding on a table grinder.
Yeah i made one. This was a great video and an even greater help in my build. Plus i got more ideas due to the inspirational creativity you brought. Thank you my good man.
I need to show my dad that speech at the end. I've tried to explain to him I just think the weapons are cool. And when I'm older and working full time, being a prop maker for movies would be an awesome side job.
Very cool Eli this has the aesthetic similar to the game and it’s honestly cool as heck glad you made this keep up the work man I know the memes have been dry recently but you’ll pull through
The hose clamps (embellishments) give you sharp edges close to your hand and all the other embellishments make it have things that stick to clothing, pack pockets, etc. your weapon concept up to that point was fine.
I liked your philosophical breakdown at the end of the video about expressing your own creativity while living a sensible life, and giving no consideration to the haters. Live and let live. It takes every type of person to make the world turn. You are a likable person, and seem like a very cool dude. I had to subscribe to your channel. You should see the homemade chain whip that I composed. I used a front vertical rifle grip for the handle, and merged it with a self defense kubaton keychain so the handle has knuckle spikes and a skull crusher pommel. I used a relatively thick dog choke chain for the whip itself and added a .50 cal round as a weight for the tip.
Oh my gosh thank you so much for the ending of this video, the whole creation cycle of this build had me laughing every two minutes. That's better than my brother in law falling down stairs. *clap clap*
This video inspired me to make my own version kind of like this except using a bicycle sprocket and the handlebars off a scooter and it could split a log I was very surprised at how effective it was and it was completely free Thanks @zednoughtalpha your videos are awesome
If you're into ASMR I would definitely encourage you to make an ASMR video doing this:) The tinkering is relaxing to watch and you also have the voice for it.
i think your message at the end was awesome. i have been creating weapons and just stuff for a long time. it is fun, and it helps you learn to create other things just by getting ideas from trial and error. then through error you do research and learn even more. keep inspiring people to create. good work.
im a welder by trade, and you are right on about the gloves. if you get cut by a grinder its gonna rip your skin and be pretty nasty, however it will not be as bad as it could be if a glove gets caught and and traps your hand next to the grinding wheel.
instead of a lock washer (btw the washer technique you use gives some "bind", but it isn't sprung like a lock washer), using a nylon insert nut eliminates the washer need.
dude mad respect, im a creative type and i do stuff you do plus anything els you can possibly imagine, and iv been thinking lately what i needed to do with my life and that i needed to be important or recognized and my gf talked to me and told me a lot of what you just said and made me feel better and what you said made me realize i just need to do what i love be myself and follow my heart, dude thanks so much ! -Dom
Also a trick for you a lot of times you will mess up your threads when you cut a bolt in half like that, put the nut on the bolt all the way down before you cut it and when you take the nut off it will restore your threads
Hey, you probably won't reply or even see this comment but I just wanted you to know that I really enjoy your content, I've been watching for almost 2 years but I'm coming back and watching your earlier videos I haven't seen yet. I'm a huge fan and have made some of my own weapons because of you videos: (pvc bow, spear, hunting arrows) with my own modifications and some other stuff like ninja stars. You've inspired me to start a hobby I now really enjoy. Just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do and I'm a huge fan :)
Yes this weapon does look cool and from a cosplay POV I give this props it looks good and I would use of for decoration but not for practical use, this is because of all the little ridges on the saw blade it would not slide very well also it would most likely get suck due to all the ridges on the saw blade but again cool design good job
