He ended things because he wasn't in the place to date and wanted to be friends but I was too devastated to be around him so I sent him a polite message saying no thanks. I stumbled upon this video just a few hours ago and the advice you've been giving your subscribers are the best! I'm going through a recent (long distance) breakup. I talked to him on the phone recently - and he says he's planned to visit me end of Jan or early Feb next year. I, of course, don't want to bring my hopes up too much. I did the no contact thing right after that and funny enough - he texted me a week later asking how my day was. Although I made the silly mistake by texting him back and having a few more conversations with him & facetiming him once - He seems to be more open to me than before and has asked me about what I've been up to and the plans I've made with people! Mi ex wroke up with me a week ago. I was doing the no contact rule and a week after the break up, he texted me. I waited a day to respond and he responded very quick. He continued to say he is very sad because we are not together, etc. but, that our relationship is too damaged (jealousy). So, I just responded that I was giving him the space he asked for and if he wanted to talk about the relationship later on, it was fine. Then, he continued to asked me about my life, my day, he asked me indirectly if I was seeing anyone, he asked me who I went out with last weekend, since someone saw me and told him, etc. Afterwards, he continued to say he thought we should stay friends, continue to talk, etc. Therefore, after that text, I just ignored his following texts. Should I still try the no contact rule or is it a lost case?

Wow, I started to do all of these things before I had heard of you! I'd never been dumped in my life and we are talking a lot of boyfriends. Lol. Our relationship ended due to a terrible tragic fire at my business/home. Long story short he wasn't paying the insurance on the building, was worried he would get sued bcz he only cares about money and tossed me out. Lost my successful doggy daycare and boarding business, 9 dogs were killed in the most horrific way by suspected arson, lost all my belongings, my income, my bf of 6 yrs i thought I loved all in a matter of seconds. I had to live in my vehicle because I had a few dogs to take care bcz the owners were out of town so I didn't want to impose on anybody and lived in my vehicle for three weeks and then the motor blew!! So I've been couch surfing for the last four or five months trying to get my feet back on the ground with a broken heart and just the absolute hell of the tragedy with the news and Facebook and people saying horrible things about the dogs dying. My one and only answer for a long time with suicide, I think it would be the only thing that would make some of the dog owners happy.I wanted to call him so bad but I'd bite off my fingers before I would let them touch the phone. He would check in from time to time and get rude if he thought I was talking to a guy etc? I've had found out he's had a girlfriend this entire time, but has been messaging me now. She is literally a low rent version of me, I would be the first to say she was cute if she was, thats always fun. LOL Even when I'm miserable and depressed and feel ugly I tell him I'm doing so damn good and I've never been happier. LOL it's amazing how well that works. Now he's even sending me emojis with sad faces meaning he misses me. Coming from a guy that's never used an emoji. As much as I miss him and want to go back I don't think I could ever forgive him for many things. I will say though it is very very satisfying! I knew he would come back I knew he would never have anybody treat him as good as I did. Oh well she can deal with his problems now, I win!!! So you are right it does work if done correctly you need a lot of willpower! Many times you don't even want to bother going back like you thought you wanted to. Just having the satisfaction though it is extremely helpful to move on. I've got a long ways to go and get asked out plenty but no I got to deal with that headache. Not a lot out there at this age.😞

Hey Brad, my girlfriend recently broke up with me after 2+ years of being together. I have had issues with controlling emotions and self-confidence. I have caused fights and have drove her away many times. After a recent fight she decided that she had enough. I have had my wake up call and decided to deal with my issues and resolve them. We talked about the future together and loved me a lot and told me we had amazing times. But I think the bad outweigh the good memories. I was her first love and during our breakup she told me she needed time and space to trust me again. But a few days ago she wrote a letter, basically saying that she's proud that I am more controlling of my emotions and that I should keep my head up and be confident and I should continue to improve. She says she will never forget me and won't love someone as much as me. I asked my friends about it and they said that they think it was a letter for closure. I am unsure if this is just a way of her coping with not talking and hanging out with me. I am taking on the NC phase, but we have every class together and we sit next to each other (can't move). I don't think that she is willing to throw away what we had so easily. She wants to see me grow and make myself better, but I don't know if she wants a future with me or not.

Hey, I found your program trying to find salvation for a rough break up. My name is Walt and I went into a relationship with someone I loved and cherished and she loved me. We were doing very well having typical teen love with little to no issues for awhile, Then after 6 months in I made a few mistakes (not like cheating or abuse or anything really bad, just not taking her home from class because i had other commitments and she stopped being so happy. Then, during election night she tried to let me go and after texting back and forth about how much I love her she decided not to. About 8 months after we first got together she tried to let me go in a caring way (she said she still loved me and cared but that she wasn't happy and that it wouldn't be right) and offered to still be friends and talk all the time. You've probably seen a lot of these so you know next that I was so hurt I had to bring it up when she texted me how are you doing and things of that nature. After that she treated me like we never had even been in a relationship or even broke up which hurt so much I sent her a text saying that I didn't think she actually cared about me or how I felt and she said this was very hurtful and that's when I realized I fucked up bad, but it gets worse, she mostly ignored me and tried to get space and stopped talking to me and generally acted very distant. Shortly after this I tried to logic my way to help her emotions and maybe rekindle previous issues by talking about our relationship (Big mistake) and she said she never wanted to talk to me again and hoped I went to hell. That text sent shock down my spine and haunts me to this day. since then she's blocked me and then unblocked me briefly telling me not to bother her and said in that very text not to respond because she was gonna keep me blocked. I made massive efforts to apologize about this and even went to her in person (she didn't seem hostile or sad or even look like she disliked me but it was clear she didn't want to talk) and i apologized briefly and asked for a hug which she rejected and left and your test indicated i still have a moderate chance with her if I do something fast (and not like contact her I presume positive actions) today is going to be my first committed active no contact period (I tried before but my apology text i sent before was probably blocked and she probably thinks i tried to contact her or something during the week I tried to vanish from her life. I was going to at some point once we established positive feelings again a very positive emotional experience we had after a dentist visit or write her a letter or something. Any advice you could give me will be greatly appreciated because these last few weeks have been borderline suicidal, Thanks ~W~ P.S. sorry for the wall of text but this whole situation is not simple enough for me to boil down into 2 or 3 sentences.

A suggestion for the rekindling phase would be to try and arrange a meeting where you give his or her things back. If your ex refuses to meet up, then you pretty much know you don't stand a chance of getting back together.
