Hey tribe,
Here is another skill sharing video.
For all you guys out there living in tropical places or countries where you can get your hands on, or make your own, fresh coconut milk. Here is a video where I explain how to make your own super awesome, best quality you have ever touched, virgin coconut oil.
Please note: There are many other ways to make coconut oil and this is just one way to do it. In my opinion though it is the best way as there is no heat involved and we don't lose any nutrients etc.
Quite the opposite actually because we use probiotics in the fermentation process and are actually adding beneficial nutrients and micro organisms.
Ok, the video turned out a bit long but stick with it if you want to learn something new :p
In the video we show you how to make your own coconut oil by fermentation with our homemade probiotics called LACTO.
BUT: you don't have to use the LACTO at all so you can leave it out if you don't know how to make it.
If you are interested you can learn how to make your own home made LACTO probiotics right here: • How to make your own e...
I want to stimulate all of you to learn new skills that will help improve your life. We can share our skills and all gain from it.
Here's some tools and necessities you will need:
- fresh coconut milk
- big measuring cup (s)
- measuring jug
- old school coffee drip thingies
- paper coffee filters
- nice narrow glass or plastic tubes/containers
- little thin hose for siphoning and plastic stick
- cheese cloth or any old but clean rag will do
- LACTO probiotics (not essential)

I'm in the UK and it is rather cold. But I watched you Lacto Ferment video and I plan to make some. Who knows, we might have a hot summer!
@healthyrootsstrongwings538
@healthyrootsstrongwings538 7 лет назад
In order to make LACTO you dont necesarily need a hot summer. It helps though but you can also just use warm water to start with and use a teacosy, haibox, duvet and/or hot water bottles etc to keep it warm. To make the coconut oil is a different story as you need fresh coconut milk. Here in Portugal I found a kind of solid coconut milk that is processed in the UK. It might be possible to make this into oil but I have no clue how it would work out. Always fun to experiment a bit :)

Yes do so and please let us know how you went! As said you don't specifically need the LACTO to ferment the oil but it has always helped me although as seen in the video sometimes things don't go as planned. Unfortunately I don't live in a country with abundant coconuts but I plan to experiment to make other oils with the same method at some point. ps: besides cooking and baking etc the oil we got from this method had proven to be exelent also for skin and hair. It is absorbed really quickly and doesn't leave a greasy feeling :)

Thanks for the video! Just for info., this is not the ordinary Coconut Oil but what is known as "Virgin Coconut Oil". It's called "Virgin" because of the non heating way of extraction. In the market nowadays, many sellers claimed that their product is the real deal. I've experienced using the pure unheated and minimal heated extraction of Virgin Coconut Oil. The different is miles apart. Try it on my hair, cut and burned, sore throat and many more and I can tell that the real virgin coconut oil is a good natural alternative. This guy is showing the simplest way of how to extracting it freely and in details.

+michaelandlucifer Hi there! Yes this is the real deal. Try on your skin on any application and you'll feel the difference. Not greasy but easily absorbed and so fragrant and wonderfull. Shame something didn't quite work out in this video but it's really life :) Longer fermentation usually does the trick. Good luck :)

Thanks for the rapid reply . I always been fascinated by neutral DIY remedies but since my sister was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 13 years ago and just had her second attack unfortunately about 2 weeks ago :( I am trying to search for all neutral/ chemical free life style for her. We live in USA where everything has become so institutionalize, food / products are almost poison to our bodies and environment .. Living clean and healthy is very costly where average joe who works 2 jobs still can't make ends meet . Videos like yours helps us to look for healthy alternatives with in a budget. Thanks again for taking your time and sharing your knowledge. Blessings to you and your family.
@healthyrootsstrongwings538

Sorry to hear about your little sister Hassina! That is so awfull. I hope you can find ways to improve her overal situation. My teacher finetuned this method of making LACTO and bundled all the information on his website after the Fukushima dissaster. His motivation was to find a way to strengthen our overal systems. I know what you mean. It seems that our method of working for continuous economic growth come at a cost and one of these 3 are always exploited: humans, animals, environment. Anyway without sounding like a conspiracy hippie: We can certainly do our part. It might be slow but I do think people are waking up. I hope you will succeed in making this brew. It is super easy and in the end cheap too: one batch of rice (if good quality) can be used many times. You can also soak your fruits and veggies in a dilution of LACTO to help get the chemmies off. Good luck and we are always here to help!

@healthyrootsstrongwings538
@healthyrootsstrongwings538 7 лет назад
+Divyani Makharia Hi Divyani, great question. The shelf life should be just the same as any other cold pressed coconut oil. It should at least a year or longer. At the moment I am finishing the last bottle I made on the day of that video and that was over a year ago. Last week I found another little bottle from a previous batch that is 2 years old and still fine. Make sure to store it away from sunlight and even more important: make sure NO water drops are left in the oil! Good luck :)

Appologies for the late response! I totally never saw it. You can warm it up a little above 25 degrees so it becomes liquid. Or you can just take the whole lump of solid oil out and scrape the curds off and then let it melt. If there is some moist present you can easily take this out. Good luck!

I'm fascinated...thanks for sharing this method. I have plans to make the lacto, just need to hit the store for brown rice. I like that this is raw coconut oil since no heat was applied. Normally we extract the milk and refrigerate so that the cream sits on top then we boil this cream until it gets to oil. Do you think possibly you got compromised milk from the market? You did everything the same, and we know the bacteria will do it's job like clockwork. The only thing that could have been a problem is a bad batch of milk or that other glass container was not sanitized well. Sorry to be so long winded but how long do you soak the coconut in water to get the milk? and are you using warm or cold water? I ask because we never soak, we just add the water and squeeze right away. Anyway, can't wait to try this. Thanks for the video.
@healthyrootsstrongwings538
@healthyrootsstrongwings538 7 лет назад
Thanks for the reply Ava Maria! Not sure what went wrong but if you leave the cream a bit longer it usually works. As far as I know they use hot water and then squeeze it out. Where are you based? Good luck trying and let us know how you go :)

@healthyrootsstrongwings538
@healthyrootsstrongwings538 7 лет назад
Hey Trishia, That is actually a really good question! At the moment we don't live in Thailand anymore BUT: When we did, we lived in an area with many mozzies AND frequent outburst of Dengue Fever (not fun). In the 9 years we lived in Thailand, the times I used (chemical) mosquito repellent can be counted on one hand. I just don't like it and just used mosquito nets and ceiling fan's etc. Now we are in Portugal and we have many mozzies again. At least they don't have dengue but the itchy bumps are pretty annoying. Once we are settled in I will go and make a natural repellent. Coconut oil apparently helps against ticks but I am not sure if it helps againt mosquito's. Time to do some research and experimenting :)

I used to work in on the chemical injection equipment for paper machines. its nasty stuff mate... find a better way to filter, like a stainless steel metal filter perhaps, or 100% organic non-gmo kosher vegan cotton or Hemp fiber filtration...

@@healthyrootsstrongwings538 We'll due to the pandemic, our country opted to conduct classess through online or modular. Our worksheets gave us the link to your video so that we are going to perform ourselves the process of fermentation. We are actually in the middle of distinguishing aerobic and anaerobic respiration from lactic acid fermentation. And I thought maybe it's fun to comment if other students really opened the link🙃
