Pharraway, You did the right thing, you recognized the problem right away and without a second thought, went straight to a second gun. Re-start without a problem. I saw that and the first thing, I thought “Air inlet restriction” on the cup. I thing we are guilty of looking at it only to make sure what direction and it’s on. We never check on a new one if plastic flashing still in the hole or never drilled. I love the extra long wood bench you have, it keeps it simple. Trucks! It might as well be a school bus. Exhausting for base, re-tape, clear. Wow, it should pay more as trucks keep getting taller. I am 6’3”, but you have to watch the bench, the hose, a spot for your hand then reaching, distance, speed, all while watching for dry spots as you plan your next wet edge! You are an athlete or a painting marathon! World Champ! Omaha.
That's a bad situation to have...gun problems in the middle of the paint job. I don't blame you at all for finishing the job with the other paint gun. Nice quality work Pharraway 🤝
SprayWayCustoms I always laugh at these people bragging about their harbour freight guns that spray as well as an Iwata or Sata and its $20.... Umm it is until it breaks after two paint jobs. Too many Gimmick guns, Iwata, Sata, Devilbiss and a couple others, the rest are just gimmick garbage. I have cheap guns and iwatas, you have to be on crack to think one of those $50 guns are better in anyway... The packaging isn't even better.lol. I gotta get me a 1.2 Sata 5500X with the I patern next... Bad ass gun!
@@fakegibsonssuck7755 ya I dont even use the harbor freight guns for primer. The only cheaper gimmick guns I like are the spray it33000 and w400 clones. Cartman's on amazon mp version sprays the best I've seen big large air horns like the lv2 aircap. And when it needs rebuilding or parts replaced I order offical iwata parts and it's a direct fit. But in all honesty the w400s and belleria versions can be had for around 170 180 shipped on ebay. The masterpro44 gun is actually a good gun. It's a prolite made for TCP global. Parts swap and it sprays just the same. Only difference is TCP offers full rebuild kits and 1.3 1.4 1.5 and 1.8 tip kits but only offer basically the hv30 equivalent air cap. The gun will use every bit of 16cfm stated with a wide open fan. For 130 for rebranded prolite with complete replacement parts priced properly or 189 for all 4 tip kits and the high flow regulator it's a steal. I wish I'd bought two more of them instead of a bunch of bs guns. Only lower priced guns that have rivaled any of my name brand guns. The cartman h-899 started out on amazon 28 it's now 45 and worth double. It will lay glass just as my name brand prolite or sagola. Its hvlp 2 technology and is a air hog. Beautiful gun, next is the cartman mp400 it's not like the 33000 or the k400 clones. It's basically the RP version great material transfer nice large even tulip fan pattern. The next is the playtu 5500 sata clone and the playtu 5000b rp clone. I'd rather buy 7 of them then one real one. Even the guys at my shop bought some. And all were stunned by the h899 performance. There are a few gems. The Chinese can make a good product when they want to. $5 of CNC metal is 5 of cnc metal a couple ld those guns are just like name brand with a different logo but all else about equal. Even packing and seals are good. Not cheap crap that breaks. I've left solvent in some of those guns for 2 weeks with no seal issues
Of course, the prep work is vital to an outstanding finish. However, the reward is when the clearcoat goes on and you see it for the first time. You’re churning out really nice work!
Thanks for making the videos, after watching, and re-watching several of them, I'm working on the courage to start painting a horse trailer project I started. Excellent work!.
I just repainted my hood. Posted a pic on my Instagram. I've learned a lot from watching your videos. I've still got a ways to go but appreciate you sharing your expertise!
for future videos could you please show completed project, you do great work . just want to see completed with all the trim installed and masking removed. you make it look easy for sure
That look sweet as awesome job hope my car turns out that nice doing it two toned black top with silver base, airbrushed sides with blood red candy over the whole car . Carn't wait to see more of your vids cheers from rednutts in Queensland Australia
That truck looks totally different, great job, I will be painting my first vehicle this week, I hope I’ll become a professional like you, thanks a lot , I’m learning a lot from you.. look me up I will be painting the black truck and I will be painting the 78 Monte Carlo sometime next summer. Thanks..
Love your videos. Awesome stuff. I have read a book about auto painting, been watching alot of youtuve videos and now I am close to giving it a shot. Your videos are very encouraging because you make it look simple. Thanks alot.
Came out nice! I started using Tamco for the clears and have loved the 4100, 9500, 2104 and recently the 2105 for hot weather. What's amazing about these clear for metal artist. They use a direct to metal resin and it works awesome. I've used the clear like a primer coat before spraying candy over the bare metal. This year I went full Tamco and found I love all the priners and custom colors paints also. Tammy will mix you up any custom color you want and let you name it.. lol.
My friend u have been given a great gift so take care of your health and wear protective gear and mock up a door with filters so nobody reports u cause that will suck but you do some dang good work.
You might be painting that truck on your carport but you ain't no stranger to a spray gun, if you are your mama gave you a gift. I see an experience painter. I was trained by a retired UAW painter back in the 80s, he was trained before the automotive robot painters.
Question, I am rewatching this video for the 4th of 5th time, getting ready to do the 2-tone on the VW truck, anyway I have a question about the way you spray clear just want to know why you don't start high and work your way down to the rocker panels, my thinking would be to paint the roof first then work down, but you work from bottom to top, except the tail gate you go top down. Is this just your preference or is there a reason for your clear procedures?
More then one way to skin a cat. Some people walk a vehichle some people leap frogs some start on hood some start on roof. It's the end result that counts. And also knowing your product. What someone can do with x brand might have issues with another brand. And the reducer for the conditions. Some conditions the paint will stay wet longer and you have a few extra mins and can paint differently. Other times like hot and humid conditions that may not work and dry spray can happen quickly. Just like with my method I use medium reducer in everything year round. I've learned how to compensate the amounts whether its 40 outside or 120 with heat index. We stay high humidity year round. Lucky if it drops below 60 70 percent even in winter.
Great video. Thanks. I'm new to painting and will be painting Matt over 2 different colours. I don't need to worry about the height difference on the line? There will be more paint on one side right?
I own a 2002 Infiniti I35 and the paint on it is called (Color Code: AX5Red Pearl Tricoat). I went to the local SW paint shop and asked them to mix the paint for me. They told me that that color is not a tricoat, but a simple base coat with clear coat on top. the paint they gave me already has pearls in it. I don't know who to trust.
Guess the video speaks for itself about the warwick gun q no i must say that base coat covers really nice good work as always my freind pero i came for the review on the clear aqui en vegas we are hitting tripple digit numbers as well pero no creo tan humid como in the big T ! 👍👍
Hey my friend, could you please do a video showing how to smooth the feel of a two or multi color paint job on say a flat panel, I know you hide it with the clear coat, but how do you get that "like glass" feel??
Awesome paint job you are a true artist, I'm very new to spraying. Iv'e sprayed 2pac undercoat and base coat, is there any difference using clear coat? Thanks for a great video
there are some differences with clear compared to base coat. One being ghosting. When wet clear overspray gets on clear that has already flashed, it will leave ghostly opaque spots. When deciding how to spray clear you have to do it in a way that you dont spray wet next to flashed (paint that has already started to dry, normally takes 5 minutes to flash) Also, a slower clear coat, reducer and activator helps. Also, clear coat will run, where as base coat won't as easily. But, you still want to spray clear coat wet.
Muchas gracias karnal I really appreciate you taking the time out to kick down some knowledge to us that are wanting to learn and gain this skill. You are one of the first videos that I seen and I've subscribed. Where are you located at? I'm in San Anto * TX
@@PHARRAWAY Órale homie puro estilo Valluco es todo! I grew up in Harlingen and been up here in the Tone since 2011. I look forward to learning more from your videos and am considering getting into an Auto Body apprenticeship program that Service King has and continue advancing from there. Nobody ever showed me nothing but you are and for that I am truly grateful karnal. Keep up the good work !
Hi. Glad to you get inside lip area of the bed. You did a video here you used this stuff from an aerosol can on your spray out cards. Instead of using clear coat. Do is not change the color to much? Do you know the name of that stuff or link? Thank you.
Do you think the tamco gave you enough film build to not have to flow coat where the tape line is? I'm using tamco 2104 and about to do a two tone truck as well and was just wondering. Great video rhe truck looks awesome😀😀. Your a great painter.
