Raised on a farm, we have fried eggs. I never had a poached egg. Here I am at 11:30 at night, come across you video and think I got to try it. Being we get about 35 eggs a day. I had a few eggs only hours old! 1145 I poach 2 eggs, Delicious! This is definitely top of the menu now in the mornings, or a midnight snack😂

Fried eggs are so good, I love crisping up the edges of the white and still have a runny yolk. But when it comes to Eggs Benedict poached eggs are the way. I bet your beautiful farm fresh eggs were perfect for this. 🙂

discovered the ladle method a few months ago, brushing the ladle with some olive or veg oil, parcook it for literally 10 seconds, then dump the egg in. works every time and looks perfect!

Crack 1 egg into a shallow cup filled with cold water so that the water is a finger level above the egg. Add a pinch of salt. Microwave for 1 minute (approximately). Done. Sorry to be a spoil-sport but this is not rocket science.

In a perfect world we would all just go to the backyard for a "Farm Fresh Egg" whenever we wish or drive to a local farm and have "Farm Fresh Eggs" gathered that same day. However, the vast majority of people purchase eggs at a grocery store because that is what is most available. Draining an egg in a fine mesh strainer for a few minutes works smashingly to deal with the watery stringy whites. It is appreciated when the reality of getting food is recognized by chefs and professional cooks.

Try this. Get a small bowl, and some saran wrap. Lay the saran wrap in the bowl, add your egg, and then lift up the saran wrap around it. Hold it there with a clothes pin or elastic band. Toss that in the water. You can also spray the saran wrap with some cooking oil. You get a very decent shape and no lost bits of egg.

You don't really need vinegar, you're right. Once you've poached a few eggs it becomes so easy. I actually use more water than that and create bigger whirlpool. I also watch it, vs. time it. The slotted spoon is key - I'll ease that under when I'm sure it's close and it allows me to lift and look and slowly put back in until it's fully cooked. I also have some paper towel where I'll leave my slotted spoon for a minute to let the water drain off. I usually only make 1-2... so I have no tips on mass production lol!

@andrewm8463 Месяц назад
Make sure the egg is at least room temperature, not cold from the refrigerator. If necessary, warm it up a bit in a bowl of warm water. Cold eggs need to absorb more heat from the boiling water, leaving more time for the whites to spread out.
