Dude. You’re good. You actually take time to EXPLAIN why you do what you you do. I’ve watched over 300 videos concerning German Shepherd puppy protection training. You’re my go to guy. Thanks.
My thoughts exactly. It is very technical and not the entry level so not all dog owners will understand. Building up the puppy in bitework takes a lot of skills.
I don't know what I enjoy watching these videos so much. I don't want to own a protection dog or a large dog, yet here I am enjoying evry second of this video.
Recently discovered your channel. Have already seen most of the videos. As a previous dog owner, can already relate to a lot of things you say Huge fan already. Please keep up the good work. love from India!!
My medium size mix dog is now 1 year old and his grip increased significantly when we play tug with his deflated ⚽️ I will incorporate your tips into his training so he can improve biting. He’s not giving up on that ball, Just like this shepherd. I’m impressed.
hi everyone ,if anyone else is searching for puppy training tips try Sovallo Canine Lessons Fixer (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my neighbor got great results with it.
the level of detail in your training is unsurpassed in the industry... i can hardly believe i am aloud to learn from you and not pay a subscription... My family, and my GSD's will forever be grateful for all that you share. thank you Sir...
Shieldk9 is the best I've ever seen, when it comes to dog training. I am a German shepherd dog owner and I've learned a lot from this guy. 👍👍 to shieldk9.
Wow that is really a very very very good dog, drive channels seemlessly, despite having some nerve/suspicion she is still very confident in her aggression and the fact that she is flares up in arousal so rapidly means that she can be worked through stressors very easily. Really good dog, and really insightful training. Thanks for putting this out
I appreciate your videos! I'm teaching my Malinois to be a protection dog. I don't want anyone else training her but myself a my decoys. It's not necessary to pay a fortune to train your own dog, we just need good videos, like this one and repetition. I rather use that money for the protection gear and my decoys.
Hey, great videos!!! I’m wondering what the strap you use in the first video is made of or what it’s called. I’ve looked all over the web. Thanks in advance!
Not quite getting the calming bit and what you do before backing off... (you mentioned PSA, I can Google but might want to keep in mind we are learning...)
One question do you hide the leather from the animal until work? Or will the animal be able to distinguish work from relax time even with it in the open?
No. Take your time and pay attention to what your dog is telling you but this can really help build a bond. When it comes time to do the bite work with a body suit some dogs can work with their owners but a trained decoy will get more out of your dog. (All just my opinions)
i am a female college student and I really want one of your dogs but I can’t afford a 10,000 dollar dog I’d have to make payments☹️it’s scary being girl by herself in a big city.
You'd be better learning how to defend yourself without a dog than expecting a dog to be your guardian. Firearms don't care about size or strength, and small weapons generally don't either. I say this because if you get a dog with the expectation that it will be the one protecting you and you don't offer a higher level of leadership or extend your ability to defend the dog. It can lead to some of the dogs from those reality T.V. shows. Where they have a big uncontrollable dog and don't know what to do with it. Also most humans have a capacity to be much more dangerous than a dog, yourself included.
If you can't afford a protection dog and are considering firearms, please remember that a moving target is harder to hit. Consider buying yourself a shotgun for protection against a home invasion. A 12 guage pump shotgun is relatively easy to use and requires little skill to be an effective shot. Shotguns cast a wider shot pattern, and can take down an intruder even in the most inexperienced hands. Please use buckshot...do not use birdshot or slugs. Buckshot is a devastating round at close range, especially to thin-skinned humans. For home defense, I recommend selecting a model equipped with an 18.5-inch barrel. Your shotgun should be loaded, with the safety on and stored in a secure location that you can easily access. Research whether your state has "Stand Your Ground" law or "Castle Doctrine" law because those are the laws that may help protect you in court if you ever do shoot an intruder. However, hopefully the situation never arises!
Awesome vids great stuff. Just got a leather wedge to pair it with the jute. I have a question, my pup is 6 month so far in protection just building his bite and targeting with the wedges and some intro to the stick as in this video. My pups sister has another trainer, today he started assaulting her with the whip, a tool she had never seen. His idea was to get her mad, the pup was afraid and not atacking back. Is this practice normal?
@@kiksta3325 if hes actually smacking her with the whip yea its going to get her to back off. She's acting out of fear. You probs need a new trainer. Don't allow the trainer to physically hit your dog.
is there a book that you recommend? that will help someone learning to train a gsd into a protection dog that covers not only the training but the reasoning behind it.
Everyone let me ask this. If I keep training the dog, I will always hear the screaming and whip and attack. So if the dog is bad luck, I usually use a small stick to instruct the dog. If the dog hears the whip, will it rush in and attack its owner? I thank you all very much.
what do you do when your dog is twisting and jumping to try and get out the coller to get to the rag instead of just watching and lunging for the rag like in this video? Can anyone help please ?
Everyone let me ask this. If I keep training the dog, I will always hear the screaming and whip and attack. so if by luck the children scream or we sing karaoke, will the dog hear that scream, will it rush in and attack its owner? I thank you all very much.
I have puppies of working line german shepherd(guarding dogs) interested people can contact m by replying and i m not a breeder so its only for serious buyers
So much misinformation in training protection dogs The general public can be easily misinformed. Im not bashing this guys program but he’s more of a sport dog trainer not protecting... dont get it twisted
Not many people understand the difference. He is setting the dogs preference to bite equipment over the man as well as teaching the dog that it relieves stress by getting the object. Desensitizing the dog to weapons and petting the dog. Sports training
