This video shows how the remove the air suspension pump compressor on a Land Rover Discovery 3 / LR3. This is the same process for the Range Rover Sport from 2005 -2010. The part number for the Hitachi compressor is LR023964
Your videos are so helpful! One of the many things I like is that you do not gloss over the difficult bits, eg seized bolts. Please keep it up! Thank you!
I used this video as a baseline. My lines didn’t stick within the air compressor. I actually let the compressor hang for a bit as I pulled on the larger hoses to get them out. The replacement took me about 3 hrs with a few breaks here and there. Thanks for the video.
Another great video. I could not find the 3rd bracket to chassis bolt, ta. Until I had Range Rovers, i had believed consumable parts were, tyres, pads and zorst. But the RRS. “consumable” list keeps growing
Fantastic job dudes, my LR3 06 compressor just went out. You can't drive that car without it apparently, that's the most uncomfortable ride you'll ever experience.
Interesting , would like to have seen the gallery pressure read out on IID tool. Recent experience with this fault turned out to be a failing battery. This was followed a few months later by the vehicle being unable to hold gallery pressure this turned out to be a leaking Voss fitting in the air dryer ( the nice blue one) . Was able to get a second hand lid from wreckers and was able to swap it out while compressor still in vehicle, in fact it would have been possible to change desiccant and filters while still in vehicle tho I didn’t bother any who new old lid sorted issue now all good
The difficult airline fittings I pushed on the plastic clip with side of a pair of needle nose pliers and then push pulled the air line and the pipe came away
I know Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot the password. I love any tips you can give me
@Marley Harper thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and im trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Hi guys, ive just purchased a new compressor, it says its a direct replacement on my 2005 range sport. Itn amk type, 2 pin, can you tell me if this is the correct one i need, as someone said i should check incase i need software reprogramming as its not hitachi brand. Do you know anything about it, find it a little confusing because ebay seller states its a direct replacement , "plug an play" . It looks the same too in the photos, so im not sure the difference now between hitachi and amk type. Other than price, which is why i chose amk type. Any help would be great. Cheers.
Thank you. Probably the most stupid design I have ever had to work on. Getting it out was awkward, putting it back in was almost imposible. And why is there so many wires somewhere so wet. You're video helped a lot.
I would replace like with like - all the compressors seem to work fine for around 10 years so although they are a pain when they fail the dont do a bad job really.
Yes this part is available with the rear "canister" as a complete unit - LR PN VUB504700 for around £70 but its worth doing as it has all new drying crystals inside etc
Hi, i need to replace the End Cap, Filters and Beads on the Air Dryer, can this job be done without the need of removing the whole Compressor unit? I am hoping i can just remove the screw which secures the Air Dryer and pop the unit off of the compressor. Please can anyone advise? Thank you
Hi team, do you have any opinion or thoughts on genuine OEM compressors V after market? I have overhauled my compressor in the past, dryer kit, orings etc. Eventually I replaced with aftermarket.. Worked great for 5 months and failed. I was given full refund as under warranty. Have now new OEM HITACHI FITTED and works fine.. So best to buy OEM or after market from reputable global reseller.?
Hello everyone! I have Land Rover Discovery 3, 2007 year. I had a problem with air suspensions, first I got that yellow indicate " Suspension fault", after diagnostic I was informed that my compressor's valve block is broken, they advised to change compressor. I changed compressor my self, did everything by you-tube video, but the problem is that Error is still showing "Suspension fault" and compressor is not pumping up car. Idea is to take car to service, make new diagnostic and delete error, and than maybe its should work. Does anybody had similar situation or can advise what could be a problem.
