Thank you so much for uploading this video. It is well explained with the correct tools and shows everything you exactly need. I have managed to fix my own top LCD of my classic NDS. This video is perfect well done! So happy I did not have to go and buy a new one.
I was looking for a video which shows how to do that, because my screen is totaly destroyed. The reason why I've put it in cold storage but thanks to you, it will come to live again !
Thank you. I’m not a handyman at all and I recently picked up a original Nintendo DS that had some rustmarks behind the screen and I was told eventually the whole system would shut down if I didn’t replace it thanks for your in-depth video I was able to fully understand how to install the new screen so thank you
okay so I did it! it's not anything really difficult but i'm proud because of how clumsy i am with this stuff, if you have it like me, new unit with no glue, just use the double sided tape, give it some frame-like shape and it will work the same way, i cut it with the hobby knife and it was pretty easy
@EvilResidentXIII The LCD might be starting to worn out. You can send your system for repair. The cost is a flat fee of 54.99 for parts and labor. This would cover both screens if they needed to be replaced. Thanks for viewing!
Will there be a lower screen replacement video sometime? I'd like to order a lower screen, since the one on my NDS died ages ago, but I haven't found any sources on how to replace it. Does anyone have any know-hows? For some reason I feel like it's not as easy as replacing the upper screen...
@AndysRandomVids Thanks for the positive feedback! We try to give people what they need if they want to try to repair on their own. We also have all the parts you will need for just about any DS, DS Lite or DSi repair you need to perform on our site. Search on google for nintendo repair shop. Thanks for viewing!
You seem like the right person to ask this, my top screen works, its not cracked or physically damaged, but it will occasionally start to blink or freeze. when it freezes however, the screen will slowly start fading to white. do i need a new screen or just a loose ribbon cable?
@sadythefate Is there a green or orange light coming from you're system? You can also try to check you're connection first and let me know if it works.
@Squeak2693 We actually just loaded a hinge and shell replacement video to our youtube channel and website. Be sure to visit Nintendo Repair Shop.com for more details and to find inexpensive Nintendo DS parts. Thanks for watching, and happy gaming!
very nice video! I want to ask you that my upper shell broke on a fall, should I replace upper and bottom shell or can i replace only the upper shell without opening all ds system? ty for reading :)
@hall0fgamez We just uploaded it, and have corrected it. Thanks for being our first viewer for our new line of DS repair videos! We have several more on the way in the coming weeks. Subscribe to us or check our website for updates.
Is there any eaiser way to get dirt out of the top screen without dissambeling all those cables ? Is the glass that you can see usually the same one that's inside or are there layers to it? Would the dirt be between layers or just behind the screen
Does your shop sell the Wi-Fi and Sound/LCD cards? I need to buy parts for my broken NDS Phat (Top and bottom screen broke apart and when it did, the Wi-Fi antenna cable also ripped with the top LCD ribbon cable.) I can't seem to find it on the site.
I'm trying to find a video on replacing the bottom LCD. I've disconnected the ribbon cables and lifted up the PCB, but I'm not sure what to do from there. I'd like to get the screen separated, but one of the cables is underneath that adhesive foam thing. I lifted that back, but then noticed it's glued or something to the back of the screen so when it wasn't coming up I stopped.
@RaggaeOfFunk Hey Raggae, hopefully you checked out our channel page and saw that we actually have a DS Lite bottom LCD replacement video. That video will show you everything you need to know to finish the bottom LCD repair.
wow some people tell you to use all these tools yet all you need is a tech deck screwdriver scissors to pry the ds open and posibly tweezers so much cheaper anyway Great video im gonna try to convince my mom to let me replace my lcd screen myself :) ya man so great vid looking forward to more :)
Our DS is only a couple of years old & I'm seeing on review ratings for the replacement upper lcd screen that everyone comments about having to solder the speaker wires back. Is that the case for the newer DS lites?
I got a question , so my nintendo ds(fat) was kinda broken but when i turned it on it was working except for the top screen it only showed the light so i bought a new case and a screen connect cable , now when i try to turn it on the touch screen flashes and it turns instantly off , the top screen doesnt even show anything , what should i do :S
This is a nice tutorial, could you make a new update with the focus set correctly? Also it killed me that you placed the shiny new screen into the unit without cleaning the inside and removing any loose dust or debris. lolololol
I did the exact steps.. but when I turn it on, it turns back off... any sudden movement with the ribbon cables plug in, makes my system turn off... how can I fix that? pls help
