How to repair a hole in a Vacuum Hose (Dyson Ball Animal)

Thanks! This helped a lot. It's hard to find a replacement hose for a DC28 animal, but this helped a lot. The only difference is that the DC28 has a rotating collar on the hose coupler making it almost impossible to screw the hose on. The coupler does have two notches on it, indicating you can use a spanner to hold the coupler still while screwing the hose on. I don't have a spanner, so I made one out of 12 gauge electrical wire. Put a small 90 degree bend in the wire, just deep enough to fit in the notch. (Too long and it will come loose.) Wrap the wire around the coupler in the direction opposite to the way the hose screws on. Keep it well formed against the coupler.Add a loop in the wire at the other end so you can hold the wire, and hence the coupler. Once you have control of the coupler this way, you can screw the hose on.

Some of the men we watched repair the hose did a horrible job trying to push the black tabs in and destroying them in doing so. Good job Just a Lady! The best part about seeing your video was I was able to do it myself and didn't have to ask my hubby! You go girl!!!!!

This video was an absolute lifesaver! I have a DC17 from 2008 and the hose recently cracked and the generic hose parts (Dyson no longer makes parts for it) just had so many poor comments about them. It took all of 15 minutes to fix. The vacuum is like brand new again. Thank you!

Thank you for posting this video! A piece of metal had gotten sucked up by my dyson vacuum and was stuck just below the tube. I popped out the hose using the red tab just like you described and voila! I got the piece of metal out.

Well shot video; no rambling dialog, long pauses or extra steps. oh and, DAMN what a strong grip, gal! You just ripped that wire right out with your bare hands! I had to use latex gloves for grip and garden gloves to get the wirecutters to close and pliers to get that wire out of the endcap... 😆 😁

mine is broken right down at the head inside machine nothing go up into cartridge ....I have hated this machine since I bought it. The shark is 100 times better at a fraction of the price. Why did dyson use such crappy hoses?
