One word, beautiful! Reading your comments to others about the joy, fun and passionate explanation shows your love for what you do but the icing on the cake is your commitment to creating loving family memories that will last forever. Yourself and Jim Burns make your restorations fun and fresh with explanation and depth with every project. It's helping myself understand the concept of vintage audio circuitry, ect, and not being a bull in a china shop and destroying history. Thanks for sharing with your subscribers as we also save little pieces of history and hopefully our families will cherish our radios when we are no longer around and pass them on to our grandchildren and future great grandchildren. Take care, Jay.

Joatmon, thank you so much for taking your valuable time to send me such uplifting message. I wished that I could video when they entered in the room seeing the radio for the first time as well as dancing with grandchild so they could keep it for the future. The first question they had “those this radio works”? LOL I had this radio for several months at our house and hiding it from them. I was fortunate be able to finish it on her birthday. As you mentioned this gift will be cherishing with them and their future family, the only gift that will reminded them of us when they look at them and brings back good memories. As always is great hearing from you my British friend. Have a great day! Best regards, JZ

Great step by step repairs demonstrated. I like your style Jay. I wish every restorer would do these kind of repairs and not take shortcuts that have to be undone. Do it right the first time with note taking like you! A labor of love your daughter will treasure forever.Really appreciate your videos.

Steve, thank you so much my friend. I was lucky to finish it and deliver it to daughter house on her birthday. I had to disassemble the radio so my wife and I could load it into the car, very heavy radio. Our daughter and granddaughter who is almost 4 years old could not see it until I reassembled it in her house. They had no idea what I was doing for a while in the other room. They were so excited and happy to see it for the first time, the first think they wanted to know if the radio works. I told them that is a good question.. LOL Then I asked our granddaughter if she seen anything like this or know what this can do. She thought about it a little bid and said no grandpa. Told her let me show you what it can do, then turn on the radio and she and I started dancing with the sound of the music. It was so good to see them that happy and excited. I told our granddaughter that someday this radio will be hers and she can pass it along to her children. As always is so good hearing from you my friend. Have a good day! Regards, Jay

JZ, I have learned so much form you. You explain things so clear and effective that the new person without electronic background can understand and not get overwhelmed. I watched other RU-vid channels and was so confused since their presentation is focused on individual with electronic background. Thank you so much for taking your valuable time making these videos.

I am happy and glad that you enjoy watching and learning. Thank you very much! I really appreciate your time taking time to send me such an uplifting comment. I am doing this as a hobby with no electronic background, trying my best to create detailed videos to encourage others without electronic background that are new to this hobby so they can understand and not get overwhelmed. So happy to know that is working for you. Have a good day! Regards, JZ

That front bevel for that radio came out perfectly. Nickel Plating the screws was different and makes a lot of sense. I don't see how you could have done a better job. I am sure your daughter will be thrilled.

For those not inclined to want to make their own, reproduction knobs for Zenith radios are available from Renovated Radios LLC.

James, you are correct Renovated Radios LLC selles most radio knobs and they look fantastic. I guess that I like the challenge and like to make as much as I can to see if is doable. LOL Most of the time I look around the house to see what I can use to fix the radios, it is lots of fun to figure things out. LOL. Please feel free to watch “Rat House Radio” on my channel that was the most interesting rebuild. I actually surprised myself fixing that. LOL Try this link to the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uMfL4Eakzng.html Have a great day. Regards, Jay

Good thinking on that glass extrusion. Saves some 💰. Extrusion is available from radio daze. That antenna system is very similar to the one used on the 6S439. Great anodizing job. I haven’t done that yet. Attaboy on those knobs 👍some don’t go there. You lucked out on those paddle switches not being deformed. Great looking and sounding radio J. ❤

Jay, I would really enjoy seeing your nickle-plating procedure. Have you tried a product called Restore a Finish? I think it is a universal solvent that dissolves most wood finishes and allows them to be spread out. I have had very good results with light scratches on wood items. It is just applied with a cloth.
@RadioFixer
@RadioFixer 6 месяцев назад
Hello Ian, is so good hearing from you, thank you for reaching out. I have used "Restore a Finish" products and dissolving solvent as you mentioned they are very good products and give a good result. But you know how I am, always like to use different method. LOL Still like to use stain since can control how dark or light would like to apply stain. Sometimes I max stains together to get different shades to blend in to old stain. LOL I used to have my own auto restoration business in early 1980’s so learned how to max colors to match the original colors. It is very fun to figure things out. Was lucky to finish radio and deliver it to daughter house on her birthday. I had to disassemble the radio so my wife and I can load it into the car since was so heavy. She and our granddaughter who is almost 4 could not see it until I reassembled it in her house. They had no idea what I was doing for a while in the dining room.
