Kudos to you guys! This video was the single most detailed how to I’ve seen on RU-vid lol. Shows exactly what he does and when he does it!

This video really helped me with my 08 Silverado; I'll add that the new clock spring comes with an orange retainer that should not be removed until the CS has been set on the steering spindle and the snap ring replaced. The orange rectangular shape to the right of the steering wheel spindle is the remaining tab where it was removed previously (and why he taped it). I did this repair about an hour ago, solved my airbag light and recovered my steering wheel stereo controls!

Pretty cool how you don't mention removing the 10mm bolt on the E-brake release being bolted to the lower cover👍🏾. Somebody might end up braking the plastic piece

This helped me verify a salvage yard replacement steering column with clock spring...working. Test and verify the drivers side airbag by disconnecting batteries, wait 20min. Remove airbag, disconnect the yellow plug down by brake release. With a multimeter check for continuity between the 2 contacts of connector going to column. It should indicate good continuity. Essentially unplugged it will short the 2 wires. Then insert 2 pins into the airbag connector and with meter check for continuity. It should be good and show a solid path through the clock spring, wiring to the plug, across the plug and back to the other side of the connector. So you know the harness and clock spring are good. Then I found the airbag plug was missing the plastic retainer that goes over the plug. I have to find the part number but it's a few dollars. The 2 side locks hold it but there's a little grey plastic part that pushes down in. The replacement was not there so had to swap it from the old plug. That's required for operation...no more airbag light.

My uncle's 2012 GMC sierra 2500 HD WT had a few issues. Broken Horn, air bag light and check engine light. They charged him $190 to tell him that his rear o2 sensor was bad and another $190 to tell him that his passenger o2 module needed to be reset. He was quoted $750 for the o2 sensor, $1300 for the air bag module and $900 for the clock spring with the possibility that it may fix the horn. The criminals are Boulevard Buick/GMC here in Signal Hill / Long Beach CA. After finding that he wasted $380 for absolutely nothing, I had him buy a $90 o2 sensor from the dealer, a $50 dollar clock spring from ebay and a $99 scanner that can reset the airbag. I used this video to repair the clock spring and it got rid of the airbag light and fixed the horn, the supposed difficult to remove o2 sensor was possible the easiest as the truck is so high off the ground in it's stock form, you can easily get underneath and remove it using a free loaned tool from any auto store. I haven't even scanned it yet and the air bag and CEL are both gone.

When I replaced the boot at the bottom of the steering column, the upper part of the steering column spun around... if i just turn my wheel straight again and rebolt the bottom half of the steering column back on, it is okay? Or do i need a new clock spring since it spun freely?

Very good and detailed instructions, but just a bit suspicious how all your electrical connectors just fell open!

Why would you need to tape it if it's broken? The new one has a clip that hold it in place.

I imagine it would be an hour or two on the books. Places around here are 75 to 90 an hour. Plus parts. Hope that helps.

I feel like this video is severely down played and more warnings should be given throughout the video people who dont have training with airbags should never touch these as they may cause an accidental deployment if you do not know what youre doing also you should also have told people to disconnect the battery and wait a minimum of 20 mins to allow all stored energy within the airbag to discharge

Yes, he did tell people to disconnect battery. It was the first step.
